Got to play footbag today!!!!! Huzzah - fuck it's fun to play, I love it and it sucks that I haven't had the time or the health to play the last few days.

I was still playing well which was good - some nice runs with flurry, pdx eggbeaters, pigbeaters all genuine plus some of my older moves (those stuff are all new). I felt on top of my game and even when I didn't play genuine, I always felt like I could have hit a genuine move out if I wanted - the bops weren't bails but planned - if that makes sense. I also hit high plains drifter>dlo into a run which was a nice link but I want one better

. Oh and I hit a new move - toe fog. Only too two attempts and I knew I would be able to hit it fairly easily, but still a cool move. I get the impression I know my game really well and immediatly know if a move is too hard for me or not. Played with Jorden too which was good - he hasn't been practicing and wasn't playing fantastically but that's ok.

Oh yeah last night QLD government passed legislation to protect 19 wild (ie. untouched by humans) rivers - which is awesome because my the enivronment group I work for started the campaign for this and have had somebody working on it for 5 years. It's not the end of the campaign and there's heaps more stuff to happen but it's pretty fucking awesome news anyway. I love my job...

I second Ken. Not just for hte Nestle gig but everything you do for footbag, with the IFPA etc. I applaud your work, this promotion will be a great thing for footbag in Australia, largely due to you! Good stuff.

I love playing footbag so much and I'm really prepared to do everything I can to promote and improve the sport (from an organisational side of things). My heros in footbag right now are not the best players in the world, but the players who make the commitment to do more for the sport outside of their own aspirations and personal achievements. People like Allan Haggett, Steve Goldberg, Daryl Genz, Colin Kennedy and Jochen Bauer - those are the people who really deserve the attention and admiration that people like Vasek get (not to take anything away from Vasek). Sometimes it really feels like the efforts of those giving up the time to put something back into the sport go completely unnoticed but certainly without those kinds of people there would probably be virtually no such thing as footbag. I am fairly confident that were it not for Steve Goldberg, I'd never have discovered freestyle footbag. I really wish there were more people like those mentioned - people who show the same persistance with the IFPA as they show with learning a new move, and maybe someday there will be.

Anyway in other news I am feeling physically fantastic. I can only think of one other time in my life when I've felt as good as I feel right now - and that was the drive down to a touch football game (Tasmanian Schools Championships) where I scored 7 out of our teams 10 tries (over 3 games - and set up 2 of the other 3) including the winning try with about 20 seconds on the clock (scores were level but had the game been a draw we would have lost overall). I finished that game with no skin on either knees, hips or elbows but still regard it as my best personal sporting performance ever. So yeah, I'm predicting that I'll play fairly well tomorrow

and I should because it will be my last Saturday in Hobart for about 6 weeks due to the Nestle demos taking up all my time on the weekends.

wow so yeah, as predicted I played well yesterday - heaps of new combos and stuff. No new moves though. Actually I don't recall trying any new moves either - apart from one attempt at a floating set (I think I could hit some stuff out of it but I didn't like the strain it put on my bad knee so doubt I'll try again).

I'm soooooooooo fucking busy right now though - I barely have time to check the forums beyond making sure I'm not missing anything really important. These demos should be awesome though.

One quick rant - some of you may remember a conflict I had regarding proposals for the Aus champs earlier this year. Well it turns out that the opposing proposal is completely false. The venue, the people organising the event and the sponsorship has all changed - the only correct part of it is the date. It's particularly annoying that the main selling point of that proposal - and in fact one of the reasons I was happy to not persue my proposal was because according to the proposal a significant amount of money had been promised in sponsorship.

What the proposal failed to mention is that that money had not been promised at all and in fact the event will get none of that money and that it was probably coming directly from the parents of one of the people who was supposed to be organising the event (but isn't). We are now in a situation where although we have a great venue and a fantastic amount of players attending the event, we have no confirmed sponsorship at all (although I'm working to ensure that changes), no media plans and the only person actually organising the event is going to China for a month just before the event starts. It seems that I'll have to take over the job of looking for serious sponsorship and contacting various media (at least if I want the tournament to be a serious and successful tournament). It's very frustrating that organising a tournament can get so seriously mislead by a person who has no credibility apart from their footbag skills and have ended up creating a great deal more work for everybody involved. It's now clear that holding the tournament in Hobart was an infinitely better decision and I regret the decision to withdraw (although I fully understand the merits of doing that). Anyway I think a good lesson has been learnt and considering how small and new the Ausfootbag scene is (of the active organisers - the most anybody has been invovled is about 4 or 5 years) - I think the lessons learnt make it a valuable experience anyway. Anyway basically my life is insanely busy - probably until mid January. I really wish I could postpone Christmas. Maybe we could celebrate Christmas and Easter on the same day and call it "Christian day" or something.

yeah, well condisering the awesome number of players at the event, the venue and the organising that is going into the event, I have no doubt it will be awesomely fun regardless of any problems that we'll have - so people going to the Aus Champs don't worry about that rant - I think things are largly under control and everything will be heaps of fun - it's just the professionalism of the event that is at stake - it may end up feeling very jam like like previous events, rather than feeling like other serious sporting tournaments feel like. I guess this is why we have a national council now and it should only really be a problem for this particular event.

oh yeah, I totally forgot this. I've decided to never play another video game again unless it's a multiplayer game with other people who are actually in the same room as I am (ie. I still play the odd age of mythology lan game with my brother and my other housemate or have the odd all night intoxicated console game night) because I've decided playing video games is a complete waste of time - you get virtually nothing out of it apart from being frustrated and aggressive when people try and talk to you (this is my observation of my brother and his girlfriend playing games - not me) - what is supposed to be fun becomes some kind of serious thing that you care about more than things with much greater consequence. For example today my brothers girlfriend spent an hour playing golf on the computer when she's always complaining about the fact that she has an enourmas amount of study to do and she'll probably fail her exams and always complaining about the fact that she doesn't get enough exercise and that she's too fat (which she isn't but girls are like that - maybe she want's me to say that she's skinny. I just go along with her anyway). Meanwhile my brother and I went down to the park and played touch footy - well threw a ball around. Worked out a cool move - early switch to early return trail hard hit dumper split. I wanted to call it blurtigo but my brother decided upon "show me the next little girl" - which is a much better name since the score on that is sweet

. Props to anybody who knows where that comes from.

So yeah - she wasted so much time playing golf on a computer and my brother is the same. Both of them would rather waste time then do anything constructive. So I'm going to make a point of not being part of it. Not that i have time anyway.

Awesome. Yeah I sort of figured that... whether it's well organised or not the shred will still be awesome

As you said a lesson well learned... I think once these champs are over we'll be awesomely organised and it doesn't matter so much if these champs fizzle a little. Again thanks for your time and energy to help make them great!

I also decided to stop playing video games. Not long ago I used to play this game called "civilisations 3" and it was one of those build-a-civilisation-from-nothing type games, that can take hours, and hours, and hours, and hours. When I first started playing, I palyed a single game all day for two days in a row and still wasn't finished. I reached exactly the same conclusion you did, but games bore me quickly anyway... they're still good occassionally when you just need to zone out. And anyway... Golf? Tell her to play a real game!!

On another note... isn't there a footbag move Blurtigo? What is it? What's the footbag move 'Bread'? I want to hit Fairy Bread

Slowsis gets props

So today I had a dentist appointment that was basically a look to see what work needed to happen. I'm looking at a bit over $2000 of work in the next few months

. Today I was charged $80 for having my teeth cleaned despite the fact that the dentist basically said they were fine (apart from the broken one, which is really sensitive and basically means I'm in pain whenever I drink cold drinks, or even any drinks).

It's cheaper to get a gold crown than a tooth coloured crown though. That's an important choice to make. I think I'd prefer coloured at this stage but there's definitely advantages of a gold crown too. I'll ask some girls and see what they think

Anyway I was abit annoyed about having to spend $150 on the dentist and on the shitty day and even the Hello Hello song from the Cat Empire couldn't put me in a good mood (although Mozart's violin concerto number 3 worked slightly) but I arrived home to discover that the videos from Freedom Footbags arrived today!!!!

These aus champs will be the best yet and I think the event will continue to improve from here too.

I had a really good session today - my first solo shred session in months and my first shirtless shred session in months too! I was hitting some sweet runs and stuff. Also flip mobius (finally!!). I hit pdx drfiter>pdx eggbeater on my flipside first attempt (having been challenged to bsos this by Ken in footbagchat recently) but dropped on my strong side

- it was just because I was too greedy too - my combo went pdx drifter>pdx egg>paradon>pdx drifter>drop. I should have boped from the first one to the next but didn't and was off balance on the pdx drifter and the pdx egg attempt out. I was annoyed but didn't want to push it and try again too much. Drilled torques lots to begin with (hence the flip mobius) and also hit pixie torque bsos first attempt (and neither started the run too). Some other cool stuff. Was hitting blurry whril>fog midstring like it was ripwalk>blur. Hit a nice symp torque too. Also found a red bull in the fridge (bonus!) and had a second short kick at a park on the way to work. Was hitting double spin osis fairly consistantly but couldn't hit anything worthy out. There were lots of other highlights from my session but I forget them. Oh yeah - bedwetter>smog>pigbeater>smog>pixie whirl>ps whirl>drop - gee I wonder what move came next

I guess I'm at least half as good as Vasek then... 3 years ago

Anyway it was good.

The only reason I say this is because Ausfootbag is becoming much more organised. This year's propositions came at a time when we were only starting to get organised, and has also probably taught a good lesson. I believe future propositions will come under much more scrutiny as a result, and aspects such as proven sponsorship dollars... will actually have to be proven.
I'm not just being randomly hopeful, I know just saying "We'll do it better next time" is empty... it's like me saying "I'll go to bed at a normal hour tomorrow night" it just doesn't happen

Anyway our internet speed has increased and is now about 4 times faster - instead of getting dowloads at 150 kb/s we get them at 500 kb/s - so the internet being offline for a while was ok.

I'm really busy anyway I just wanted to say that I spoke to Ken last night and he has a silly american accent but that everything is pretty well organised and exciting!
