Mass produced footbags

Post by Si_iS_High »

Hey

You know how there's all these poor countries making footbags at like 2cents an hour or whatever: Pakistan, Guatemela etc

Can't someone teach them how to make them right?
Like if Richard Abshire could go over to the factory and teach them how to make smaller 32pannel footbags with better material and filling.

Well... I do believe that the design used would be because it's quick, easy and cheap... these companies are about making MONEY not quality footbags... Who needs mass produced anyway? With the amount of stitchers around there's not really a shortage of bags... And anyway, the workers would probably get lazy (who could blame them) and you couldn't really be guaranteed quality bags.

I laughed when I realized this thread was about making cheap footbags better, rather than abolishing sweat shop footbag manufacturers.

That would only marginalize the footbag community as a whole. It would take money out of the pockets of footbaggers, and put it into the pockets of manufacturing CEO's.

I don't understand the concept of a "wasted thread" - there isn't really a limit to the amount of threads we can have on the forum so I don't think you can really "waste" threads. This isn't a t-shirt...

I think Jim Fitzgerald or some representative of juice footbags actually did go over to Pakistan and teach them how to make footbags - that's where they got the pattern from too I think. I'm not 100% sure on this though.

If there were mass amounts of guiltless players in the world, then companies that mass produce footbags would have a reason to mass produce well made 32 panel footbags.

I think that most people who buy a footbag or hacky, buy it, kick it around for a few hours, get bored and almost never use it again. These are the people producers are probably aiming at.

I'm thinking about something... and there is a very high chance it has something to do with footbag.

And, what? 90% of the threads on this forum aren't a waste? What about the kicking circle?

I'm with the FFUBU concept!
Keep it in the family, I say.

First off, it's not good for our economy to be supporting that.

Secondly, they will never be as good quality as the ones made by experienced stitchers

And lastly, slave labor is not something we want to be encouraging

I'm not so sure about this. Aren't most 92 & 120 panel footbags made with cheap labor?

I don't think there is any lack of experience/skill among 3rd world stitchers.

pre punched panels. You can see the template flaw in the bags.

What does number of panels have to do with quality? Are 92 and 120 panel bags even any good? Footbag stitchers are not only experienced stitchers, but experienced footbaggers, and they know what a good footbag needs. They will be motivated to make a good bag. A third world over worked person couldn't care less about quality, I would assume.

Jeremy - I've got a mass produced 32p from the same box as a bunch of guatemalans so that makes sense.

I've got two mass produced 32s and IMO the facile would be the first thing that needed to be better, second thing'd be the filler and the third thing would be the stitching.
