The Footbag Shoe

This is something I have wanted to be able to announce for so long.

Today I was given the go-ahead from Queen's University (my school) to begin the formal design process of the footbag shoe.

This is it everybody.. I'm going to make our collective dream come true.

I have been proposing this to anybody that will listen and finally I got someone to let me do this. This will be the culmination of my scholastic carreer and the realisation of so many dreams of mine.

I know that some clueless arts school kid tried to design a footbag shoe before and it was all wrong. I think the source of the 'all wrong' was the fact that the project was approached by someone that wanted it to look pretty and not functional. A mechanical engineer with a raging lust for footbag is required to bring this properly to fruition, I get to be that guy!

I will make you all happy. I will keep updating this thread letting you all know of the progress I make on this.

Well, once you design it, doesnt it have to look pretty so that a company will decide to pay you to take it off of your hands? Or maybe you could sell it to the WFA and they could arrange for the production, as long as we all bought from them. . .

I think he means it will look like athletic footwear, and not some velcro strapped slipper.

Obviously looks will come into play eventually, but function always comes first.

I was just saying that the arts student had no concept of what the shoe required functionally nor did he have the technical know-how to design it appropriately.

The only problem I foresee with this is that everyone has a different opinion on what a "good" footbag shoe is. Some like walls, some don't, some like a brockut, some don't, some like mesh, some like canvas, some like bulky/supportive, some don't, etc....

I think the way to solve the personal preference problem would be give them all the questionable stuff, but make it so you can easily mod them off.

Although, personally I think you should make them come with stuff like the brocka mod, because there isn't really a down side; other than it makes your shoes fall apart a little faster, but that won't be a problem anymore because they come that way. Then, for canvas or mesh, just make it a thin grippy material; for support vs. lightness, just make them lighter and supportive, etc.
Although, I'm sure Tom has gone through all of this, and will make a rgeat shoe

After the design stage, how are the going to be produced? This reminds me of some guys who were making some new running shoes. They made the shoes in thier gerage and sold them out of their truck. The people who bought the shoes have said they were pretty decent, I forgot what the company was called though.

This is such a cornerstone. Other companies might find out about this and try to get started on their own shoe, causing competition, which is always better for us consumers and players.

Just make them better than lavers and everyone will be happy

If/When this is done, you will change footbag forever. You should name the shoe Tom Moshers. Or just Moshers. Soon everyone will be saying, "Ya, I got my Moshers in the mail today, they are sweet!"

its so crazy to think of the possibility of getting your bags and shoes from the same place, with the same name. (ie "i shredded my mosher today wearing my moshers")
why not just go ahead and design some shorts too?

Sarcastic bitch or not, a playable heel should be considered. In the shoes I had before lavers, I could do reversish rakes with my heels. They were pretty cool.

I promise that I have already thought of every little detail that you guys have mentioned 900.000 billion times AND MORE!

Come on guys, give me some credit! I am an engineer and a raging footbag enthusiast.

I have clocked many hours in lavers, climacool 1's, 2's and responses, ct 520's, ct 300's, barefoot, ... frigging sandals.. I know what I am talking about! But I guess that will all become evident soon.

I am way over the top obsessive, my brain has already been processing this stuff over and over and over and over for months now.

I am so excited to satisfy all your needs.
