Well, it certainly wouldnt be used by everyone ALL the time. For example, today wheile I was online, I saw Tsiangkun, Ted, Quantum Balance, and . . . one other whose name I forget all online at the same time. I wanted to say hi, but simply didnt want to say hi to everyone b/c thats 4 PMs. If I could have expended the effort of writing only 1 PM that was sent out to 4 people, I certainly would have done it!

Why not, I don't think it wouldn't be abused in too bad way.
I think it would be fun to get pm's from random people.

you could use it for things like "hey everbody check out this really good thread" or whatever.

okay, you know how people sometimes spam sections of the forum . . .

What about something where people can broadcast a message that scrolls across the bottom of the screen or something instead ?

[EDIT:] In fact - maybe we could get a fuction that when you open modified, footbag chat -window would open as well.
And that function could be turned off it you'd want to be an asshole and not social.

actually I think everybodies general negativity towards somebody who was clearly very keen on footbag managed to scare him away - it wasn't like he was hurting anybody - just excited and posting a lot. I hope you (in general) feel big about yourselves though. That's the important part

Anyway I often open a footbag chat window when I log onto modified and I think that's a good idea - just those who want to chat can open a window and those who don't won't. I don't think anything needs to be changed

This would seem complicated to do, but what about an astrik appears next to your name on the "who's online" list indicating your in a chat? I thought about making a new name like Bander(chat) but I'm too lazy to switch back and forth everytime.

Or, how about you automatically get logged on to the chat when you come on to modified, and if you don't want to chat, you just close the window.

That way people like me, who are too lazy to log on, or people who aren't intregued enough will be given an easy opportunity to check it out.
