Which Big1 is the best?

Post by Davidr022 »

Hello everyone, like 6 weeks ago we had a tourney where we had to make a poll to see
which big 1 was the best. It happens that we had a tourney a couple of days ago, and we are not sure
of which Big 1 is the best :( , so we would aprecciate if all of you could help us to determine the order.
This time the tricks got a lot better(in my opinion), and they are:

1.Mullet
2.Blurry Torque
3.Fairy Ripstein
4.Frantic Mirage
5.Alpine Legbeater
I think the winning order was:

1st:Mullet
2nd:Alpine Legbeater
3nd:Frantic Mirage
4rd:Blurry Torque
5th:Fairy Ripstein

We think that the winning order can posibly be wrong, so please vote and if you want
to suggest the winning order, you are welcome. Thanks.

EDIT: i forgot to mention the alpine legbeater, surely on top3.
Ill have to make again the poll...sry

IMO, and I'm sure a lot would agree with me, Mullet is by far the easiest trick of those. I would place it:

Frantic Mirage
Fairy Rip
Blurry Torque
Mullet

i won't say mullet is the easiest, but surely the most common of them. i'd probably rank it the same way that he did as well.

Its hard to say without having seen how they were executed. Was the step on blurry torque slurry? Was the duck on mullet deep? I`ve seen fairy ripsteins where all 3 dexes were questionable. Without video, we can only give you our hypothetical opinions on the tricks.

I can`t hit fairy ripstein, but I can hit the other 3 tricks pretty consistently. So based on my experience and my tastes, I would probably rank the comp like this:

1. Frenzy
2. Fairy ripstein
3. Blurry Torque
4. Mullet.

Props to you and your friends for such a successful competition though... 4 different people hitting those level tricks is incredible. 8O

While to some degree I would base this on difficulty of the tricks, they are all very difficult and so that isn't as big of a consideration for me. Instead, I think the execution plays a bigger part, as Ken said. A really flowy fairy ripstein is a hell of a lot cooler than a jagged-looking blurry torque, and vice versa. Basing this entirely on which moves I would be the most excited if I hit (which is a measure of the difficulty and how cool I think they are, since really that's what I would base it on anyways), it goes:

1. Fairy Ripstein
2. Frantic Mirage
3. Blurry Torque
4. Mullet

If you could get the moves on tape next time you do this, that'd be awesome. And as Ken said, it's really impressive that you're all hitting that high level of moves.

How interesting that there are completely opposite viewpoints... makes you wonder if you really can judge a Big 1 like that? Possibly they're all just as hard as each other, but something like 'Mullet' could be viewed as easier just because it's more common? It just seems that we have completely polarised views from what I think of as very experienced footbaggers... :?

I think you need Alpine Spinal Tap in there somewhere.

my vote (without seeing execution) would definitely be:
1. frantic mirage (pretty rare imo)
2. fairy rip (styley)
3. bl torque (common 6)
4. mullet (very common 6)

You have to bear in mind that difficulty is completely subjective... Some people are good at certain moves. I'm sure a lot of players would find mullet a somewhat easy 6, but fairy ripstein much harder, despite it being a 5. At any rate, here's my ranking:

1. frantic mirage
2. fairy ripstein
3. blurry torque
4. alpine legbeater
5. mullet
