I had a dream last night that I was flying up to Brisbane and had a stop in Melbourne. I then went outside the airport for a few minutes and when I came back inside I was told my plane had left. I was like "but don't I have my stuff on the plane - what if it's a bomb or something" and then it turned out hadn't left at all. The guy trying to tell me it had left was such a n00b. I guess all this nestle stuff is getting to me a little

I'll write a full report of the weekend soon - just wanted to say that the demos went really well although the temperature in the shade was literally 20 degrees C hotter than the average temperature in Tasmania and we were playing in the sun - ie. Jeremy fucking exausted.
Lots of cool stuff went down, I took some photos too. Hagsey told me to say that he played really well and asked people for props on that. Jesse, Garth, and Caroline were also impressive and did great jobs. We got the word of footbag out well and met one kid who was about 10 and a fucking superstar. I've been playing ok too - hitting some nice stuff. Some fearless combos and big moves and whatever.
Anyway I can't talk for long - I'll write some detailed reports soon

Guido is such a fucking cool guy. Footbag rocks. These demos are promoting footbag in Australia so fucking well. I think it's going to be a huge boost to the footbag scene here and I hope people take this opportunity to look at their priorities in terms of what is acutally important for footbag and what is completely irrelevant and a waste of time getting involved in. The Australian organisation scene is looking really fucking solid in my opinion.

About the bag I asked for..Would it be possible to make it pretty much exactly the same as Carolines i.e. size and wieght (except red and green)? If you have already started it then that is ok though. If is started my guess is that its the same as yours and that would still be freakin sweet.

Ok so here is the full report!!!
Friday 7th of October
My housemate was giving me a lift to the airport so had to get up very early (about 7) since he had uni at 10. I'd been up most of the night arranging things too and speaking to Nestle people at 11pm so needless to say (but I'm saying it anyway
) I was pretty damn tired. Got to the airport at about 10. At this stage my plane tickets weren't actually booked so I had to wait in the main foyer until Kate called me to let me know the details. I made a new footbag and cut out all the panels for one too. Finally Kate called at 1:00pm to let me know she was booking the 1:15pm flight to Brisbane. I rushed to the check in and the lady said that she thought it might have closed but considering we'd booked the ticket that vrey minute, they'd have to let me on because I wasn't late and they chose to sell me the ticket etc. I'd also hit a little run with the new bag I made and drilled my torques a tiny bit while waiting so they were suitably impressed. The plane flight was fairly boring although we had some awesome turbulance on the way up. I slept some of the way. Caroline picked me up from the airport despite being sick, we went back to her place and chilled for a while. She made me an awesome lunch/dinner of bacon, eggs and sausage after I realised I hadn't eaten since 8am and it was now 4pm. Gareth arrived and Caroline went and picked up Hagsey and we all went and had a "light" session in the city. Jesse decided he'd rather go to his local church group than play footbag with us. The session went well. The highlight was definitely Steve - Caroline's boyfriend who used to play footbag in Calgary about 10 years ago but hasn't played since then who turned to me at one point and said "this is a jedi hack move" - stared right at me like he was about to knife me or something, flicked the bag over his head from a toe (still staring straight at me) and behind the back sole kicked it back over his head and to me. That was awesome. Hagsey was really impressive - some long runs and strong combos. Gareth and Caroline also impressed me. Caroline is definitely a lot better than last time I played with her, as is Gareth. I played well, mainly drilling my drifters. I hit a nice run with blurry whirl>flip blurry drifter and then strong blurry drifter>ps whirl later in the run. Also hit 5 fearless to start a run and blurry reaper for the first time ever. We then went and had a few beers and back to Gareth's where we pretty much crashed immediatly.
Saturday 8th of October.
I either didn't sleep at all and worried the whole night, or slept most of the night but just worried the whole night in my dreams. I woke up at 6 am with light poring through the window and I thought "holy shit, it's 10 am and we've slept way too long" Luckily it gets light in Brisbane a lot faster than in Tasmania and I still had an hour to sleep. We manged to get organised fairly well and get to the event. The first event was predicted to have 1,500 kids but there were more like 15 and although we played a little the other Milo people were annoyed and we left to go to the next event. Oh they basically had a tent and van and were handing out free milo to everybody. The girls were really really cute (especially Alisha). Hagsey ate some bad prawns and after contacting Jesse and Caroline we headed off to the new event too. The new event was much bigger. We played some silly games to begin with because we were early and waiting for the event to start. Hagsey kicked arse at footbag basketball (trying to kick the bag in the hoop) - but I destroyed everybody at the milo games - especially AFL (the stalling game). Actually I think I lost the soccer game. The demo went really well once it began - the only problems were that we were playing in a bad location on grass that wasn't at all flat and it was 38 degrees C in the shade (100.4 F) and we were playing in the sun. Needless to say it was too hot to play for long so we subbed reguarly with two people demoing and drunk huge amounts of water. I hit a nice run with ripped warrior and spike hammer on the other side but not much else I think - just going for length. Hagsey again really really impressed me with his long long runs and solid stuff. Jesse was also really really impessive of course, but is a punk. Caroline and Gareth also played well. Caroline's mirages looked really solid and Gareth was hitting some nice combos and links - as well as long runs when needed. We played with some talented kids too and I gave one of them a free bag because he was so awesome. (we weren't meant to do that). One thing that really annoyed me about this event was the fact that it was a public school fundraiser or something and Australia is officially the second fatest country in the world (after the US) and yet there were no healthy food or drink available - just soft drink and fried fatty food. How can kids be healthy if they don't even have that opportunity? After the demos we rushed back to Gareth's and I had a shower and then went straight to the airport. This time with more than 5 minutes to go before the plane left I did my best to stay awake until on my plane, then fell asleep almost immediatly and was woken up my a stewerdess reaching over me to adjust my seat for landing. Just in time to see Sydney at night - which looked fucking cool as. Guido and his girlfriend picked me up and we got some donughts before heading back to his place. We chilled and drunk beer while discussing footbag, life and politics and going to bed.
Sunday 9th of October.
Woke up early. Guido's girlfriend made us an awesome breakfast and we headed off to pick up Daniel and Phil and get to the demo. We got there fairly early and had some time to check out the event and warm up. As predicted it was enourmas (I think 15,000 people estimated) and a nice day although windy. Again we were playing on grass but much nicer grass and it was flat. I tried to talk to more people and get more people to play at this demo and that worked really well since it kept me fresher. Daniel's game was really really impressive - he has improved enourmasly since I last saw him and hitting really long runs. Phil had also improved a lot and impressed me. Guido impressed me the most of anybody for the weekend I think. He's only been playing a year but has such a strong game - lots and lots of long runs and good skills. He's learnt pretty much by himself as well. He said he gets home from work, watches a footbag video while having a few beers, then gets up and plays while having a few more beers until he's played for about an hour every day. He also has a huge collection of footbag shoes. So yeah - his game was really good. I played ok - again just focusing on long runs. After the demo was over Guido and I went back to his place and chilled out having a few beers and resting in the sun. We watched a footbag video "Fo Shizza" and his girlfriend cooked an awesome dinner.
Monday 10th of October
Woke up early again and headed off to the Nestle Australia HQ. Met Kate and Gemma (the people in charge of the campaign) and got some breakfast from the cafeteria. Dyalan arrived and we did our demo. It was really fun - we had some nice d n b pumping and I also did a 2 minute routine. The people all loved it I think and we managed to get them to have a kick too Kate learnt toe stall and was getting 3 kicks a lot (having told me on the phone she couldn't get one). It was a good demo. Next I was taken to the marketing hq while Dyalan and guido headed off elsewhere. I did a second demo for them - which was also lots of fun and they were much less timid than the Nestle people. I think the highlight was in my two minute routine when I paused and said "normally I juggle two bags here but I don't have a second one" to which everybody threw their free milo cereal bags at me. Predictable but funny none the less. After finishing up and having a really really fantastic pie, I met up with Guido and Dyalan and we headed off to Phil's work. We found an amazingly awesome place to kick and had a good session with Jason Po also turning up and playing . This was a really really fun session. Was pretty tired by this stage and didn't hit anything beyond a few long runs. Also pixie ss double switch first attempt ever. A nice run with pixie da da curve and pdx da da curve in it. Also sumo>pixie da da curve. Guido hit an enourmas 30 contacts or so run. Also his ducking was really tight and he hit pixie ducking osis and magellan>pixie legover repeat. He is really talented. Phil also hit some nice long runs and it's great to see he is more consistant than before. Dyalan was also hitting some nice stuff - including a nice nuclear set and some good shuffle. Jas was very impressive despite the fact that he hardly plays - hitting long runs, a solid torque and general good consistancy. However he has no idea how to pass the bag to the next person... After that we headed to the airport, I slept on the flight and then home
Some general thoughts:
Drivers in Sydney are crazy. At one point Guido pulled up to a red light and stopped. Then while the light was still red just turned left. I thought he just got bored of waiting and decided to go, but appararntly you're allowed to do that
.
The footbaggers in Australia are amazing - I feel so lucky to have them in the scene and they're all so much fun to play with. I really hope Sydney and Brisbane hold Aus Champs soon because they're such cool people and I'm sure they could do an amazing job of things. They're so friendly and generous too. So huge props to all the players in Sydney and Brisbane, especially Gareth and Guido for being superstars and letting me stay and Caroline for picking me up from the airport when she was sick. I feel very positive about the Australian footbag scene right now. It might be small but it's got the right people and it's definitely getting better!
I think we played with my footbag at every event and I also think that every single person who played with it, asked to buy one - including Kate from the marketing company. So yeah - as I said before, they're really awesome (we chose my bag over Abshire and Lonn bags...) and I'm pretty much booked out for all my spare time to be making bags
Overall I had an amazing time - I'm so stoked that this is all happening and it's really so much fun. In 3 days time I will be with Ken Somolinos in Sydney and doing it all again!!! - fucking awesome!

I fully plan on making every effort to seduce a celebrity - simply because when am I going to get another chance to do so? It's not about winning or losing - it's about taking part. Seriously if I get to meet any of the celebs at the event I want to have a good story about it. I think I'll print out that picture and ask David to sign it.
So it's now about 17 hours until I'm in Sydney and having breakfast or something with Ken. To say I'm excited would be an understatement. I think almost everything is under control too - which is a great feeling. I still have so much stuff I should be doing, but I spent today (up til now) sleeping and then watching futurama and I feel pretty good. I'm going to go into the city for a light kick before work too. I had a small session yesterday and played really really badly so I want to have another quick one. I also need to burn a cd or two for ken to use at his demos. I really should have asked what music he liked. Oh well - d n b it is. I think the pixies have swearing in a lot of their music.
Anyway I feel slightly excited but calm. Tomorrow I have to get up at about 5:30 am so will go to bed early - hopefully by 10:30.
I spoke to ken on footbag chat a tiny bit last night and he told me not to read his blog but that he hit a new set in my honour so I'm looking forward to that. I think I've figured it out and would guess flipside sailing since I guess sailing set is my "famous" set although I don't actually hit it in runs much lately - I guess too much board short play has pushed it out of my game. I know Ken's done sailing on his strong side but since he hasn't hit flipside smog I'm guessing flipside sailing is hard for him. lol - it'll probably turn out to be something completely different like mouth set ducking but I've made my guess.
It seems to me that footbag in Australia is about the most exciting scene in the world at the moment. We have this huge promotion, we have an awesome player none of us have played with visiting the country, we have our only big tournament coming up and we have some more big demo stuff happening (taste of tas). Actually that's funny because at the Taste of Tasmania I'll be advertising some construction company or something - which proves my point that you can use footbag to sell anything. We probably have 3 bap level players as well - which is a high percentage for about 15 serious footbaggers. Having only ever played with 2 bap players (Ales Zelinka and Dylan Fry - also Johnny Murphey but he wasn't bap at the time) I think I probably have no idea what the level is actually but we have 3 really good players (Lynton, Dan and Jason Po )
I guess I feel really positive and invigorated about footbag right now - which is a nice feeling! We're so lucky to have found this sport.
I will finish off with a story I heard at work (a true story).
This couple were going up to a mountain right near where I live (Mt. Wellington) - you can drive all the way to the top - in the boyfriends brand new expensive car. They had a dog with them. When they got to the top and went for a walk the dog ran off into some bushes and dug up a human shit and ate it (in National Parks you have to bury your own shit). Pretty yucky. I think almost everything is under control too - which is a great feeling. I still have so much stuff I should be doing, but I spent today (up til now) sleeping and then watching futurama and I feel pretty good. I'm going to go into the city for a light kick before work too. I had a small session yesterday and played really really badly so I want to have another quick one. I also need to burn a cd or two for ken to use at his demos. I really should have asked what music he liked. Oh well - d n b it is
. I think the pixies have swearing in a lot of their music.Anyway I feel slightly excited but calm. Tomorrow I have to get up at about 5:30 am so will go to bed early - hopefully by 10:30.
I spoke to ken on footbag chat a tiny bit last night and he told me not to read his blog but that he hit a new set in my honour so I'm looking forward to that. I think I've figured it out and would guess flipside sailing since I guess sailing set is my "famous" set although I don't actually hit it in runs much lately - I guess too much board short play has pushed it out of my game. I know Ken's done sailing on his strong side but since he hasn't hit flipside smog I'm guessing flipside sailing is hard for him. lol - it'll probably turn out to be something completely different like mouth set ducking but I've made my guess.
It seems to me that footbag in Australia is about the most exciting scene in the world at the moment. We have this huge promotion, we have an awesome player none of us have played with visiting the country, we have our only big tournament coming up and we have some more big demo stuff happening (taste of tas). Actually that's funny because at the Taste of Tasmania I'll be advertising some construction company or something - which proves my point that you can use footbag to sell anything
. We probably have 3 bap level players as well - which is a high percentage for about 15 serious footbaggers. Having only ever played with 2 bap players (Ales Zelinka and Dylan Fry - also Johnny Murphey but he wasn't bap at the time) I think I probably have no idea what the level is actually but we have 3 really good players (Lynton, Dan and Jason Po )I guess I feel really positive and invigorated about footbag right now - which is a nice feeling! We're so lucky to have found this sport.
I will finish off with a story I heard at work (a true story).
This couple were going up to a mountain right near where I live (Mt. Wellington) - you can drive all the way to the top - in the boyfriends brand new expensive car. They had a dog with them. When they got to the top and went for a walk the dog ran off into some bushes and dug up a human shit and ate it (in National Parks you have to bury your own shit). Pretty yucky.
