lost toenail
has anyone else ever had a toenail (almost) fall off due to footbag. I cram my feet into lavers that are a size too small so that I have better control. With all the rubbing and sweating (calm down you pervs) I seemed to have loosened the toenail on my baby toe. It was dangling off so I decided to cut it leaving less than a centimeter of toenail on my toe. It doesn't hurt but it's still disconcerting and I hope it doesn't become a regular occurence. Does this happen to anyone? Does anyone have any suggestions for combatting this menace?

In September 2003 at the East Coast Regional Championships in Melbourne I spent literally 2 hours trying to hit my first 5>5>5 combo (and did) - phoenix>matador>ps whirl. Afterwards I had a huge bit of skin missing from a toe and a toe nail fell out. One foot was actually bleeding

I've had this happen at least three times in my life and every time it was related to improper footwear. Sports in shitkickers (work boots) or kicking before I figured out I wasn't a size 12 in Lavers.
I would check your footwear, personally. And I definitely think that if you continue to use shoes too small, your toe nails will continue to fall out. It's possible that worse could happen too.

PS For me it was the BIG TOE (yuck!)

Haha that's happened to me a few times too. For some reason that pinky toe nail can come right off. You feel like you have an alien or a baby toe or somethin after that. Definitely weird.footjoe wrote:oh man my pinky toe nail kept on rubbing and stuff or somthing and it was all ghetto looking and dangling to i ripped it off it was the coolest thing not having a toe nail

yeah so I didnt rip it off playing footbag, but it prevented me from playing for awhile. At my summer job (worked at a camp) I was unstacking chairs in the cafeteria, in a pair of my chaco sandels, and slid my foot under one of the stacked chairs. The footing on the chair snagged on to the toenail the toe right next to the big toe on my left foot. The toenail got totally ripped off and was still snagged on the chair. getting weak knees just thinking about it.

It's definitely in your best interests to get shoes that fit better. If you ever have a nail that looks ready to fall off, I would recommend not ripping it off. Instead, let it fall off naturally. What happens, is that a new nail grows underneath it, and when the new nail is mostly formed, the old, dead one falls off.
Yea what ken said, get shoes that fit you!!!
i've never actually had a toenail fall off, but sometimes my pinky toe will get sore, or my big toes.
Its actually quite a common thing. It is very common in runners and soccer players. i knew a few who had toenails fall off numerous times
