Russia and China

Post by carl winslow »

I have to write a 15 page paper on russia for my russian history course. And I have to write another 15 page paper about China for my history of China course.
I can write about any topic I want, but i cant pick what topic is good.
for China I was thinking about writing about Daoism or Buddhism but im not sure.
And I have no idea what im gonna do for Russia. maybe somthing with the mongols or somthing.
Both papers are due around the same time.
any suggestions on what would be an interesting topic to write about would be appreciated.

How about this: Russia's role as a European "power" in the post-Cold War era?

You can write about Russia's role in II world war.

Or just Russia's war with fascist Germany in 1941-1945.

thanks for the replies. I picked a topic for Russia- the reforms of Peter the Great.
I still need to pick a topic for China, it has to be narrow, i cant just do ancient china. i hate picking topics.

Opium Wars

A quick google search will give you all you need to know, and I think the conflicts which brought the wars about will be of pretty big interest to you.

The Opium Wars -- very interesting war!

How about the Taiping Rebellion? ;) I also find the origin of wholistic medicinal practices of interest, though I'm not sure how much of an abundance of related resources there is.

How the preschool system in China is a reflection of the cultural values that are held in esteem by Chinese culture.

Why is it that's all people want to talk about concerning Russian history?

How about how the Russians were teabagged at Tannenburg in 1914? Or talk about the bloody Czars (or tsars as some like to put it) before that? Or, you could just hand your teacher a copy of Rocky IV instead.

I think an interesting topic about China would be...TEA! Or the problem of Tibet. Or maybe you could just hand your teacher a few copies of old kung-fu movies like Drunken Master or Invincible Armour.

I'll be quiet...
