I saw Symphony X in August and have been listening to them religiously since. They are fantastic live! All I ever listen to on my ipod nowadays.

Saturday:
ghosts of war, a life once lost, dillinger escape plan, unearth

this show was nuts, just plain fucking awesome. dillinger is soo nuts on stage - just all out flipping out and having a good time.

unearth was the best though, they just know how to play the crowd!

less than 2 weeks i get to see one of my favorite bands.
Dry Kill Logic... its in a very tiny venue and its going to kickass!

Tonight I saw Defiance, Ohio at a commune in Santa Cruz. Both the opening band and D.O. had banjo players which gave a really neat flavor to all of the songs. D.O. sounds really good live even though the sound system was really loud. Since this show was in a livingroom the audience (of people who were all crazy about the band) was standing/dancing right next to the band. Good feeling show.

About a month ago I saw Burning Spear with Pete Irish. We even finagled our way back stage! Then we met this dude in a Captain's hat who helped us get irie. It was crazy!

I saw Sonata Arctica a week ago -- they were awesome. They didn't play many of the songs I expected them to, but ended with "The Cage", which was pretty cool. I've also been listening to them non-stop since. Actually listening right now as I watch a Jorden Moir video. Victoria's Secret was sick too, and I really like all of their slower songs (I think they played Last Drop Falls).

The keyboardist plays a keyboard-guitar (or a key-sword-tar, as Strongbad would say), which was cool, but there were really tall people standing in front of me, and I couldn't even see the drummer

Tony was wearing bright red plaid pants! Oh, and some Winnipeg power metal band opened for them, they were kinda crappy though (Dream Quest).

Just bought my ticket for OPETH in a month

Should be goooooood.

Last weekend I saw Great Big Sea.

I don't know if anyone else likes them, but I love them. I got row four tickets and the show was amazing. Afterwards I went and met them at the stage door and got autographs and pictures. They were all really nice. I might post some pictures in my blog when I get around to it.

I love Sigur Ros

I saw The Weakerthans again briefly at a local concert. It was just two of them, and the rest of the bands at the concert were very, very bad (except this one aboriginal rock band that won some Juno (Canadian awards) that combined rock and traditional song and dance -- good music, but I think it only perked my interest because of how terrible the previous bands were...).

I see OPETH on the 5th

Man, the concert was intense! I totally enjoyed it sooo much more because I had the option of sitting down! My legs are messed up. I only ended up standing for, probably, four songs, and my legs were like quivering non-stop during the latter of the two because it was so much work for me.

They are soooo good in concert!
They were preceded by Dark Tranquility and Devil Driver. Dark Tranquility is good, but their performance was kinda weak. Devil Driver was AWESOME on stage, but I was pretty disgusted by their really tasteless, incessant swearing and incoherent and monotonous throating. Oh yeah, you couldn't hear ANY guitar in any of their songs either :p We laughed. Hehe.

Opeth was so good...I think they had to change something with the mic between his throating and singing, but it was sooo good -- the singing was so clear, as was the guitar (all of them :p). He has a fucking amazing voice, and he was even sick he said. Oh yeah, awesome speaker too -- he was so fun and told stories between every song: great. They were playing with a fill-in drummer and it was his birthday, so everyone sang him happy birthday, and then he gave us a sick solo with lots of yummy double-bass.. mmmm.

They changed guitars almost every song. There was a rack in the back with, like, 20 guitars. They ended with Deliverance, and extended the ending for forever, which was sooooo intense. It was a REALLY good concert.

Oh yeah, people kept trying to crowd-surf, and would get pulled down by the bouncers every second. That was also very silly. Oh, there was a pretty intense mosh pit during a Devil Driver song. They swore a lot to build up adrenaline, or whatever, and told everyone that they were filming for their DVD; really strong vibe!

Oh yeah, and the show was totally sold out

I'll be seeing Iron Maiden in Uniondale, NY and Rutherford, NJ this weekend. I've been a fan for way too long to have not seen them yet so I'm going twice! I'll also be in NYC for a day or so which should be fun.

I'll edit with my review (it's going to be very biased btw
