I hate it when people call thes on me. I like it when they politely tell me at the end, "The paradon was the", or, "I'm not sure if the dex on that eggbeater was there", y'know? I find it very insulting for someone to call "THE!" in the middle of a run, or even commenting after if not in a considerate manner. I'll tell someone really politely if I think they the'd something, or just keep my mouth closed, because it doesn't even matter. I'm pretty against that state of mind which defines a the paradon as a butterfly...it's clearly still a paradon, it's just unclean...
I'll either not say anything in response if I found it rude, or say, "thank you", if I found it helpful and politely communicated.

When I play with people I know, I'll call 'The' during a run.

When I play with people I don't know, I wont call The. However, I won't give props if the rest of the run is good, without saying "that [inert trick here] was a little thin". Or words to that effect.

I think if the person can hit the trick cleanly almost all the time and they arn't starting to "slip" doing the trick, then pointing out 'the' dosn't matter as much. I also definatly think that people should never call 'the' during a string. If someone is shredding, let them shred. This is their own time that they have the bag. I think calling 'the' during a run can be rude. Tell them after.

The again, different groups play differently and like different things.
Yeah, this is coming from a person that always has played solo, lol.

EDIT: After thinking, maybe calling 'the' when it happens is better so the person knows and remembers what they did and can fit it in the future. It all depends on the person.

I agree with Nic totally.

It's like going to a fruit store and buying some fruit then noticing it is slightly bruised. Do ya tell the person who sold it to ya or do you just accept it. It can be very tricky.

I like to call out "BAIL!" when someone has bailed to an easy trick

That is a flipping annoying thing to do, if you did that to me I think I would kick you, honestly, I woulden't be able to stop myself.
I guess if it's what you and your friends are used to then it's not an issue though.

I am going to go to the supermarket today, find a bruised apple and scream "THE!!!!" and toss it at one of the shop attendants.

i think calling thes midrun is mean. call it afterwards. i also think that calling thes on someone you dont know, or haven't bothered to compliment them on their game first is mean, its been done to me before.

Interesting replies.

I was actually referring to things I'd seen on video and watched the moves frame by frame and then posted on the forum that I thought they were "the" or thin.

In person I'll let the person know after the run.

most people know something is "the" so there is no real need to be overly foward about it. But it's hard when someone thinks they hit something big when they missed it, you get conflicted on what to say. Do you call the? Do you say nothing? DO YOU EAT A HAM SANDWICH!?

If you respect their desire to improve then you will call "the". I hate it when people humor my slurred or "the'd" tricks. It was because of the critizism of others that i cleaned up my stepping, which i though to be clean! So call "the" if you have respect for a persons desire to up their game.

I don't call it mid-run. I let the person finish out, then I compliment them on the good stuff before I tell them that move X was thin or the.

I call 'the's midstring, that gives the person an opportunity to hit it again, cleanly.
And I don't give props for runs that has even one 'the' move, if the move isn't hit again cleanly in the same run.

Well I would like to see that Barraging Ducking Ingyro Barroque first.

It's not that if someone hits 20 contacts fearless to start a string and later the's a Pdx Illusion I can't give props for the run. Some limit.

Your right, my friend has a camera and I get him to film all the concepts in my game periodically and then decide what I like and what I don't so I can work on steering my game towards the style I want, and ofcourse no thin moves

i have the biggest problems when calling 'the'. Firstly, i am too weak to do so. I always feel really mean when im just about to call it so i pull away. When somebody hits a big trick and i know its the, i know it would be better off for them if they knew, buti i just cant tell them...i guess it doesnt matter so much in nornal cases though..
