Ellis moved -- both physically and virtually. He moved the site to a different server and then moved himself physically across the country. He has yet to get internet access in his new place -- something out of his control.

Be patient -- I'm sure it'll only be another week or so.

As well as that, Ellis has been waiting on the guy who is helping him make the new site (a professional friend of his) to finish his part of the site, but the guy is busy and it is take a while.
Things are always 10x harder when you have to depend on other people.

dude use the search engine - a topic about flipsider appears on this forum every week. Why don't you email Ellis - since he's the person who knows what's going on too - modified is not flipsider and has no connections to flipsider - Ellis virtually never posts here so the chances of getting answers to these questions are unlikely - apart from Allan's answer of - be patient.

Kinda makes the Email Elis thing a little pointless. That and the spamming of his email address with the same question.

Yes but the question was answered last week with pretty much the exact same answer. And probably been answered with the exact same answer for the last few weeks or definitely with the "be patient" answer for the last 6 months. I don't understand why there is this perception that for some reasons things would have changed at all and Ellis just wouldn't tell anybody. Of course when there is an update it will be on the site - it would be stupid for it not to be. If there is no update it won't be on the site - it's pretty goshdarn simple! Also I don't understand why modified or footbag.org seem to be the place to ask. Ellis hardly ever checks these sites and really only a very small number of people know what's going on - who also very rarely check the forums - so it's a pointless topic that comes up over and over.

I don't ask people to email Ellis for Ellis' sake - I ask that because:

a. - If you have a question about somebody's private website you are much more likely to get the answer if you email the person who owns the private website.

b. - http://www.modified.ca has absolutely no connection to http://www.flipsider.com beyond both of them being about the same sport.

c. - When the same question gets asked every month it gets very boring to me.

There's more but I'm really exhausted and hungry so I need to go.

The reason modified and footbag.org are the place to ask is because they are basicly the only international footbag forums on the net and people at forums are expected to know what the deal is with their sport, including what is going on with major websites relating to it, especially when there are only like 4.
You're right, the topic is pointless and it comes up over and over, but lets be honest, flipsider has been one of the best if not the best footbag resource on the net, everyone is a bit anxious about it's release, it is natural to periodically have threads made about it on other the other 2 major footbag forums.

No matter how much we speil at them people won't stop asking, so there are 3 solutions:
 Don't read these threads if you don't like them, let others answer or try to answer the question.
 Have a uniform informative answer you can copy and paste that will answer the question end the discussion and close the thread after you post it.
 Make a stickey entitled "This is what's happening with flipsider" and post the reasons Elli has givin that it's not finished yet there.

Or ofcourse everyone could just continue to rant and new comers when they make these threads.

This post wasn't directed at you so much J, just using your post as the basis of what everyone is saying/thinking when these threads come up.

Thanks Nic. I think you've pretty much summed it up.
I was checking out the flipsider site the other day and was wondering what the latest news was and then... lo and behold, a thread is started!
Fortunately, Allan (OhYeIsMyGod) Haggett came up with (what I can assume is) a relevant update. So, the question was answered and all were happy.

The Flipsider website is like the add system... it's always going to be talked about within the footbag community. Sure, it's boring to those who've been there, but there are still people who are genuinally interested.

edit:

Sorry please ignore this post - I had been up for 17 hours and only slept about 4 the night before so was very tired. I guess I agree with the sentiment of what I wrote but it's not my place to say so.

I think Nic's comments sum up nicely how I feel.

However, Jeremy, your comments strike me as boldly hypocritical. Did you forget posting this?:

http://www.modified.ca/footbag/viewtopi ... ht=#182376

A little over 2 weeks ago you had the audacity to blast forum members for treating newbies with arrogance, highhandedness, and general negativity. Yet, hnc (who has been a member for less then 3 weeks!) joins a FOOTBAG discussion forum and asks a question about a FOOTBAG website, and you have the gall to sit here and harangue the poor guy? Geez, he just asked a question. Apparently being nice to newbies only applies when they're not doing something that annoys you.

Anyway, I suppose it's irrelevant. I imagine that you'll have some convoluted response that attempts to validate and justify your domineering posts. One thing I have learned from modified is that you hate to admit when you're wrong.

OFFICIAL Edit: Yeah, I guess even though the search engine is pretty sweet in this thing, it's sometimes tough to use at first. Thanks to those who've had the patience to re-direct noobs to the right place.

On a lighter note, most everyone on the site has impressed me with how helpful they are to newcomers in giving tips about pretty much ANY topic out there related to footbag. I must say it's greatly appreciated, and has been extremely helpful. We all know that this is one of the toughest, yet most rewarding sports out there, and making it any easier at all is a huge help. Anyway, thanks! :)

That's a completely different topic entirely - we're talking about people actually attacking somebody for the fact that they post on the forum - rather than their inability in using the search engine - or even just noticing that there is a topic about flipsider on this first page - like all the person needed to do was look down 12 topics or so and they would have seen a topic about this exact same subject.

edit:
dude use the search engine - a topic about flipsider appears on this forum every week. Why don't you email Ellis - since he's the person who knows what's going on too - modified is not flipsider and has no connections to flipsider - Ellis virtually never posts here so the chances of getting answers to these questions are unlikely - apart from Allan's answer of - be patient.
And reading the post you're referring to I frankly think you're full of crap - that's not an attacking or aggressive post. It gives some good advice - ie. use the search engine, don't post topics that already exist (especially ones that are the 15th topic in the section already), if you have a question for a particular person - go direct and Ellis doesn't post here. That's all information that nobody else said and is definitely relevant to the topic and helpful to new people. Clearly my second and third posts in this topic had no relation to hnc at all. Also clearly from hnc's initial post - he's been playing footbag for a while - or else he wouldn't realise that flipsider hadn't been updated in a while. This is entirely different to the situation of a super keen person starting playing footbag and posting on modified at the same time, then receiving so much abuse from members that he quit completely - I'm still ashamed of the people on modified (in general) for that.

Anyway you can think what you want.

edit2: and you response of " I imagine that you'll have some convoluted response that attempts to validate and justify your domineering posts. " - seems very childish. You accuse somebody of being "boldly hypocritical" and then you make a comment already dismissing my response. So your aim then was only to demean me in front of others and make me look bad? I hope you feel big.

All media is back online. Sorry for the inconvenience to anyone affected.

Also sorry about v5. I'm trying to remedy the situation on a daily basis. Are there any PHP programmers out there who could help?
