What are some good exercises?

Post by Guest »

I'm relatively new to the game, and I am not very limber, and I tire easily. What are some stretches and exercises I could do to increase my stamina, support my weight better, and to become more flexible? Thanks.

As far as my learning experience is concerned, doing simply toe stalls for as long as I possibly can has been a great way of building stamina.

To tell the truth, I can't even do stalls yet. I'm sure it has a lot to do with the bag I'm using, and my shoes. I'm using a footbag that came out of a cereal box, lol. I of course plan to get a new one before too long, but right now I'm still on the basic kick. Would biking or running do anything for me?

And also, I hear good things about this "Mr. Sandbag" footbag. Are there any chain stores that would sell it in the USA, or do I have to order it from online?

Definitely!

Keeping in shape will help you in any sport you do. You don't have to be particularly flexible to play footbag. It may help a little, but it's not necessary. It is although very necessary to stretch. It helps to keep your muscles healthy.

I'd say just try kicking the bag as much as possible. The name of the game is RECORDS!

Keep records for yourself. Kick as many times as you can and count how many you've kicked. Then try and beat that. Keep on trying to beat your record. You can have records for everything. You can keep records for how many inside kicks, toe kicks, outside kicks, sole kicks, whatever.

I find keeping records is the fastest way to get better.

Mr. Sandbags are very good footbags. They are optimal for beginners because they are inexpensive and they are very stallable. But don't think they are only good for beginners. Many top players use Mr. Sandbags. You can only order them online because like almost all quality footbags, they are hand-stiched.

No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.

A very good excercise for control, balance and stamina is the "1,000 kicks". Don't count the drops, just keep on kicking from the number where you were before the drop.
Practice especially the inside kicks, but the outsides too (they are the most important in my opinion). The other kicks are useful too.
REMEMBER TO TRAIN YOUR BOTH SIDES.

Welcome on boards, have you already registered? Also I think you should put your home town there too that the other players from that area know you exist. The company of other players is very important, it'll help you so much with your game.

Yes, I've registered. I just thought this name was unique, so I went with it. If I wasn't registered, I wouldn't have a post count. I know there are no other major players around my area, I live in the sticks. I'll try that 1,000 kick thing, though. For the kicks I'm not as good at yet, I guess I'll do 500 until I get get several consecutively. Thanks for the tips, everyone.

Uhm, yeah. I think that's what it's called anyway. I saw someone do it on another forum once.

Hey guest, that Mr. Sandbag can be found on www.worldfootbag.com . It's cheap, only 6 bucks. There's a couple of other sandbags on www.efootbag.com as well. Have fun!
