Elder Scrolls 4: OBLIVION

Post by Muffinman »

So if you've never played any of the Elder Scrolls series (Arena, Daggerfall, and Morrowind), you will totally hear all about it when the XBox 360 comes out next month! I don't know how it will be playable on a console, since Morrowind on XBox wasn't possible... but check out the trailer @_________@

With voice acting by Patrick Stewart and Sean Bean! Wow...

Morrowind was possible on a console. It was released on the X-Box, then after it's success on the X-Box, they released a Game of the Year edition with both of the expansions and the original game on one cd.

After seeing Oblivion screenshots and whatnot, I'm pretty sure I'm getting myself an X-Box 360 for that one reason. The rest of the games can go to hell for all I care.

Morrowind kicks ass... Whenever i get into the game though and start making some progress, my computer starts fucking up on me and I have to reformat. So I haven't played it quite a while. Going to have to do something about that here soon, after this quarter ends.

Yeah I have it on xbox, its fun, but after a while it gets kinda boring and I have to stop and hit my self in the head a couple of times to remember where to go because the worlds are to freakin huge for me.

Its just a pain in the ass having an interuption in a game like having to reformat. Since the 2nd time it happened I keep 3 copies of my save files for several of my games. One on disk, one on a separate hard drive, and the actual save file. But those are all for my 3rd start... and yah after not playing for a while you forget where you were supposed to go and all that crap.

I just started a new character last night though :D

I actually have the exact same problem, Aric!! Ever since I reformatted ages ago, my copy will randomly shut itself down, because I never reinstalled it, I just played the old copy that I installed before my reformatting (on a partition)...so a lot of my other apps are screwed too...haha. I guess I could reinstall, but I use some mods, like the trees, and better faces, and stuff...

I know Morrowind is on XBox....I just meant that you seriously can't play Morrowind on XBox...for one it takes, like, 2 minutes to load a game, and you just don't get the same feel....console controllers are so limited, especially for a huge RPG like Elder Scrolls.

I backup my save files too... and I also recently started a new game... I have a billion. I love this game so much, and there is ALWAYS something new to do, regardless of how many times you've beat the game. I realized I'd never finished all the imperial legion quests, and it's great. Plus the expansions have a ton of sidequests I never finished too...

I've been playing Morrowind religiously ever since I got it. At the rate I'm going, it will take me about a year to explore the entire island.

Just out of curiousity, but what kind of characters do you guy's play??

I'm using a female Wood Elf, Thief and Archer. I'm a good person, though, saving slaves and killing all the bad people. I also steal anything I can get my hands on

Male Nordic barbarian all the way, bitches! Mastering the guilds is fun, that's generally what I did.

Oh yeah, just so you know, if you join the Imperial Legion (I think, or Fighter's Guild, one or the other), you have to assassinate Thieves' Guild members, thus making it not possible to be the head of both of those guilds. House Redoran sucks, go with House Hlaalu. House Telvanni is pretty cool if you're into the sorcerer stuff. You get your own little manor after a bit, which is neat. It's almost like when you could buy a house in Daggerfall.

You can totally master all guilds, if I remember. You just have to do it in the right order -- I think you have to kill members of opposing guilds in each of the three main guilds (fighters, mages, thieves)...so if you have to kill someone in the thieves guild for the fighters, just make sure you attain guildmaster status in the thieves before you have to kill for the fighters...that way it doesn't matter, y'know? In my longest game I was guildmaster of every guild, I'm quite sure (actually I'll double check next time I play...)

My latest character is a male Orc Crusader.
My last was a male Breton Bard, I think.
My character before that was a female Woodelf.
And my very first character was a male Argonian.

I have tons of sweet screenshots (like 800) -- I love Morrowind.
You get a house (get to choose 1 of three built just for you) in the main Solstheim quest.

EDIT: I was guildmaster of all three:

and that character (he was actually an Auror...named...Albus Dumbledore) with Sunder and Wraithguard 8)

Sweet. I figured they'd've kicked you out even if you were guildmaster. Oh well, it's been a long ass time since I've played Morrowind and it'll be even longer, probably.

Elder scrolls. Awsome. Coolest rpg Ive played. Like my short sentences. Sure.

No, morrowind kicks it. It is seriously the best gome Ive played. One time i played it so long, my arms started shaking uncontrolably.

Morrowind is acually how I got my user name.... jbalexdarkelf.

My best carcter right now is a male darkelf, and I have two people that are vampires, a cat person thing, and two argonians.

I love this game.

OBLIVION!!!
Oh, I can't wait. Just over a month and I will never get anything done ever again. Morrowind is the best, but I can't even play it after watching the Oblivion videos over and over every day. I'm such a geek. Oh yeah, I've also read every single thing on the website

I feel sorry for anyone who is going to try to play this on Xbox 360 though.

Good gravy.

Do you know if it's a continuation of Morrowind, Eric, or like a completely new game altogether?

I just got back into Morrowind. I made a new character (male High Elf, lots of magical abilities but is versitile with Medium armor and a Long Sword) since my Thief/Archer became too powerful (lvl 45ish, never runs out of Fatique and I enchanted my Daedric Sword with absorb health  ).

I had half the island explored. Half.

Oblivion is a completely new game (none of the games really "continue" in that sense; they're all set in the same world, but the storylines are separate), and it is MUCH larger than Morrowind. They said 16 square miles @______@

You have to see the "real world physics", NPC AI, and "home grown" forests in this game... Plus it's all voice acted (50 hours of recording).

I think I will play Morrowind again now too. You make it sound so good. I have SO much school work I should be doing though (and it comes out just before finals!!)...

Two new videos:
http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/media_movies.htm
(They're posting count-down videos every day until next week (6 days-ish!! (Not actually sure anymore; first they said the 21st, then they said the week of the 20th... their countdown says 6 days, so, I guess it's the 21st...))

My brother and his best friend and I are all going to buy it on Tuesday and go to my brother's place and all play at the same time (like a LAN party minus the LAN :p) I'm so geeky. This is going to be sooooo great!!! :D

Gameplay!!:
