Today, I fell, but...

Post by Switch Kicker »

I got a weird idea for a weird looking trick. I did a left side clipper (Left side, right foot.) and was going for a opposite side pick up. Well, the weird thing is, the bag was dexing around my thighs instead of down by my feet, ankles, shins, w/e. Well, the weird thing is, when I lost my balance, I fell over to my left, and I ended up dexing the bag one more time, in weird manner. I didnt' catch it of course, fore I had fallen on my ass, and it hurt, and I sat out for a couple minutes, but anyway. I had dexed it with my thigh, trying for a pick up, but then, I bent my knee, throwing the lower part of my leg over the bag in the opposite direction that I had just dexed it... Confused yet? I don't know how I would explain this in job's notation, so don't ask me to. But it just looks so damn funky doodle. So, here's what I'm trying to do know, Left side clipper to opposite dex, to reverse dex, landing in a right side clipper. The first dex has to be with your thigh, and the second dex has to be in reverse using you shin portion of the leg.

If anyone who understands my gibberish, can explain this better, by all means, take the stage. Ah bloody hell, if no one will be able to understand this, it'll never be done, cause I can't do this trick, probably never will be able to, and it'll be lost forever...

muted quasi SS double down...

Bless you, now what were you saying? Lol, sorry, I jsut havn't a clue what that means. Could you by chance, explain what Muted, quasi, and ss stand for? I just so happen to know the double down portion of it.

left side clip set>op in>same side leggy out>same side clip

Does that explain it better?

Oh, and if your, quasi, ss, thingy, and my little attempt at using a poorly done job's notation are different tricks, could you tell me where I can see a vid showing the, quasi, ss, thing. Btw, I've never seen the thing I just tried to explain, so... yea.

Anyhow. Do you know where I can get some vids of that Jordan guy, the dude that's really good with those pull backs, whacked out toe stalls mixed with dustpans and claud stalls? That guy is... really fucking good, screw allan hagget and ricky moran, this guy's style is just fucking kick ass. Thanks.

I'll try to explain:

Forget quasii for a moment it will only make things worse for you to understand.

Let's look at jobs first:

Clipper set> same IN > (no plant while) same Out > OP clipper

See the Same and Same above?

This is SS, which stands for Same Side.

See the (no plant while) part?

This is Muted in this example, which stands for a dex performed without planting that leg after the dex.

Generally when a change of direction takes place between dexes, a plant is required to clarify the 2 distinct dexes. Since you did not plant your first dexing leg before performing the second dex in the opposite direction with the same leg, you perfromed a muted dex.

Quasii = paradox IN dex

Forget even trying to explain paradox, it is too complicated to understand at your level of play. It will only confuse you and me, and everyone else on this forum as PARADOX itself is controversial, so trying to explain this here will not happen.

Personal Suggestion:
Video tape your attempts and tricks for viewing online if you can. Otherwise, until you can learn jobs effectively, you will only sound ignorant to the sport, which upsets upper level players. A good raport with other members of modified will go a long way towards increasing your knowledge and understanding of the sport.

EDIT: I meant the above advice in a good way and by no means do I think you are ignorant. Just wanted to clarify that, so you don't take it personally. Others on modified may not be so kind.

Thanks again flex, and I understand pardox enough to understand what you just told me. And I agree, paradox... that's could be very controversal if you start getting technical. But then if you get techinical, you start running in with other tricks that have already been named and such, and then, it all starts becoming a mess and I had an argument with my friend Josh today about whether or not my PS Mirage was really a PS Mirage or not, ugh, I personelly don't like Paradox....

But yea, thanks for the help what what muted meant. I suppose I could've figured out SS if I would've sat and thought for a couple minutes, but I was already late for class, so, word ever.

matt damon, this is not a quasi muted ss double down, though that would be a sweet trick.

this is an infinity whirl.

clip>same out>same front>op clip

original paradox tapping whirl

downtime nuclear whirl

infinity whirl.

Wrong.

He said the first dex is like pickup. He then falls over to his left, dexing it in the reverse direction (read; butterfly). Thus, I'm pretty sure he is describing

clip > same in > same out > op clip

where the first dex is probably done around peak time.

i think that when you set up for a far pickup, if you dont get behind the bag, it is really easy to accidentally do a butterfly dex at peak time, if you try for a pickup and dex the bag hippy out to in, and then attempt the leggy pickup dex, bailing to clipper (i e infinity whirl) would be a hell of a lot easier than a peak quasi muted leggy butterfly.

he said hippy dex>leggy dex, which leads me to believe that the first is out to in and the second is in to out, not the other way around.

even paradox miraging reverse whirl sounds unlikely

But that goes against everything that has been said.

In all likelihood, there may not have been any (clean) dexes at all since the two would cancel each other out.

The second dex would be "leggy" like the second dex of a muted parkwalk would be. He dexes it with the lower part of his leg since that is pretty much the only way you could dex it from that position.

This move is possible in the way he described it you just need to think about it a little. It's most definitely not an "infinity whirl." If you've seen bent-knee stepping before, you know this is possible. The move is basically a muted quasi ss <thing that Cameron Kennedy does>. You would need to get a fat peak time dex, but it's probably doable. Not very practical though.

I did it... Well, yea, I basically did it.

I was shredding for hours apon hours last night (Because XBox Live wasn't exactly working at it's best...) and I got a lucky completion of the trick. Sadly, I don't have cam corder... I will try to get a camera, and continue to try and get this trick down so that you can see it.

The trick I did last night was

clip>ss hippy in>ss leggy out>ss clip

However, I'm trying to do the two dexes in one motion. I"m sure many many people can do that trick described above. But can you do it in one single motion without changing the direction of travel with you legs? I did, it was rather lucky, and the bag did nick my leg while doing it (Not enough to where I would'nt count it though.)

The trick I want to do is this

clip>op hippy in>ss leggy out>ss clip

But yea, just think of a way to do hippy in>ss leggy out with only one motion, and then put the trick together and you should have a very good idea of what I'm trying to do here.

My friend witnessed it and he told me that, well, it bugged him out at first, and told me that my leg seemed to wrap around the bag in two different directions at once and that it looked as though the bag was flying out the center of several legs, but he said that it all looked extremley cool, so I'm definantly going to keep at it with this trick. It's the fastest double dexing move I've ever seen actually. Because you're almost dexing the bag twice at the same time, eggbeater, double leg over, double dex, swirling whorl, whorling swirl, none of these is faster than this trick.

Someone said that the trick begins with step set I beleive, technically, you could do that, but the trick I did I just did anormal clipper set and then did the two dexes about 3 feet in the air, it looks cooler and I think presents more of a challenge, and also changes what the trick really is. It's not a step set trick.

sounds like a sidewalk.

maybe muted.

I don't think it's nearly as confusing as everyone is making it out to be.

also, what the shit is an infinity whirl?

The trick you describe is a muted stepping grifter.

But only if it is the trick you describe, and not the trick you think you are describing.

Fred,

I understand exactly what you're trying to communicate. However, your job's notation is a little incorrect. You should read this post by the hardest working man in footbag, Steve Goldberg on Footbag.org. It's a well-written tutorial, and knowing how to read and write job's notation is a really great way to communicate a lot of the things you can do with a footbag. It would have really helped, in this instance.

the move he's trying to describe is clip >> same in >> same out > same out> op clip. The >>'s are a peak indicator. Usually there's only one per move (like "clip> op in >> op in > op toe" for blur) but with this move, if it's actually going to occur cleanly (which might not be possible, but we'll see), the first dex must occur totally at peak time, and then it will be on the inside of your leg, so if there is a reverse whirl-like dex that is going to occur, it's actually going to be a paradon. Were it just one dex, then it would be like a paradox sidewalk.

I think that sounds a lot more doable, though still pretty crazy.

<thanks cam>

I see a funny looking blurrier in matts notation.

but

I don't see a funny looking blurrier in either of these descriptions. I can see stepping butterfly done funny, or I can see a muted reverse drifter, depending on which of the descriptions is more correct.

A)
Left side clipper to opposite dex, to reverse dex, landing in a right side clipper.
or

B)
clip>ss hippy in>ss leggy out>ss clip

Either way, I'm not seeing that mysterious third dex in matts notation.

The very very very first textual description of the trick,
but anyway. I had dexed it with my thigh, trying for a pick up, but then, I bent my knee, throwing the lower part of my leg over the bag in the opposite direction that I had just dexed it...
, sounds most like my stepping bent knee clipper, done without the plant.
