trains

Once again I couldn't sleep one early morning, and I heard a train in the distance. I've noticed that every house I can remember living in (6) was somewhere near train tracks, and I could hear the trains going by. I am just curious as to how many others live(d) near trains. Do they bother you or anything like that? Everywhere I've lived, they were off in the distance and never really bothered me. I have slept over my cousins' house and there are train tracks across the street from their house. I think every train that went past at night woke me up and kept me awake, but my cousins just slept through them like nothing was happening.

Yeah, there's train tracks somewhere by my house. I can usually hear them going by in the morning in the summer... Blasting their horns. I like it. Reminds me that even if i'm sleeping the motor of the world is still turning.

Most of my life I didn't live near train tracks. But one time, when I was living in Northern Japan, I remember being woken up by what I thought were really nearby trains rattling by the house. As it turned out, it was an earthquake!

I used to live directly next to a train line. I got used to the trains fairly quickly although used them as a bad way of telling the time (since they were usually late).

I grew up very close to a train yard. I don't live near a lot of trains anymore. I miss both the sound and having to stop at railroad crossings to wait for passing trains.

People say that a tornado sounds like a train in the distance.

You know...ever since I heard my mom tell me that (when I was little), I have always gotten paranoid if I heard a train during a bad storm...

it sounds more like a bus just outside the window. not a train

At my parents' house in Havre where I grew up, there was a railroad about a mile or so away from the house. We could still hear it at night and sometimes woke me up even though it wasn't that far, but we lived out in the country on the plains, so you can hear shit from a bit far away.
