Growing into your (my) body

Post by HG »

i was just thinking before i went to sleep last night. i am definitely not done growing (i just started :) ). I started playing footbag before i started growing. I have been roughly the same size for like... 4 or 5 years.

The point is, as i grow bigger, will footbag get easier or harder? Will it stay the same? Will i have to adapt and make my style much different? Will different concepts grow easier and harder as my legs get longer?

Essentially, i am worried if starting footbag before i started growing will hurt me, or benefit me? This probably goes for Nathan also, seeing as he is pretty small too. i know when Joe started he was kind of smallish, and now he is bigger, if you read this joe, how did it help/hurt you?

Thanks

I doubt your game will suffer any, but you might change styles or maybe different tricks will become easier and others harder.

But, I seriously doubt that your game will suffer any.

No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.

Well I've grown like 20cm (ie. if an inch is ~2.5cm, 8 inches) in the past year.
I'd say that the growing happens so slowly, that there won't hardly be a day when you wake up and find out that you can't do anything with your legs.

You should probably pay attention how your muscles grow and develop and do many-sided exercices to keep up a good muscle balance. A bad muscle balance will make problems in the future. Like the distance skaters (or what are they called) do pretty much the same movement all the time, and their back muscles are bigger than the abs. This may cause them back pain.

The only problems I've had are sometimes back pain, which is probably caused by growing and shredding too much (or pushing too hard). Then I was getting flat feet but luckily noticed it before it went bad, but I wouldn't say that this was all caused by footbag. Now I've got no problem with them.
And at the moment my mom thinks my inside-knee muscles might be a bit over-grown compared to the outside-knee, but that's not that bad either. I'm doing exercices to get it right.

Many-sided exercices --> good mucle balance --> able to shred when your 30.

I think starting Footbag earlier on is good for you, now when you grow your body will already be comfortable with Footbag and it will be like walking, only more jumpy, and dexy, and you won't actually go anywhere.

It seems from watching other players go through the same thing that your body will grow into a footbag machine. I think starting as earlier as you have is fantastic for future developement. I think it will be a natural progression of body/footbag growth where things will get easier for you and not harder.

My personal experience has been starting just this year, and I'm 19. Not so old, but I'm definitely done growing (I'm pretty small anyway). My problem was that I've had a whole bunch of years of laziness and my joints are always hurting.

....that had no relevance. I guess I'm just saying that in retrospect, I wish I had've started when I was like 12-14. I woulda been so much better by now.

Here is a nice example. Vasek was your size Hen, he grew...sure didn't fuck his game up. I think you two have similar early styles on some tricks, so you're blessed.

Vasek, Honza, Dan ednie, felix, jordan and many others.

These are fine examples why starting younger is much better.

You have nothing to worry about henry.
