Yeah whatever Henry. *i'll be rolling my eyes till they drop*
---

No shred yesterday, but did some stretching and it felt goo-ooo-od.
Living at home at the moment sucks. Not that I'd have any problems with the other five members of my family, it's just that there's a renovation going on. And the two or so center rooms are being renovated and the two of the toilets too. You have to go outdoors first to get to the kitchen. :x
Also the other shower can't be used at the moment, which means that we all have to use the third bathroom (where the other shower is too). :? And that pretty much sucks because, like I said, there are six of us living here. My sister should leave now since she's 18 in my opinion. Ain't I just fair. :)

---

Oh yes, the Adidas soft step insoles (or at least the other one) fell apart after like three or four sessions. 10 euros! :x ...luckily I didn't pay them myself.
They were actually pretty nice as long as they last. Though they aren't kaputt that badly yet, I can still use them.

Tip by Lauri Jii:
When I found out that my shoes were getting holes in the soles, I started to think how to fix it. Obviously taking them to a shoemaker and let them put new soles there would be the best option, but who really has time for it? I don’t have, and the nearest shoemaker is probably 20km from us.
Then I thought the duct tape.
Actually I was searching the tape roll when I finally got one of those “achieving enlightment” feelings.
Bingo.
Snap.
I found a roll of this special tape you put to the hockey stick for better grip and to protect the ‘blade’ (what is it called?). It’s “erkka” or “eristysteippi” or something like that in Finnish in case you understand Finnish but didn’t know what I meant. And it’s white instead of black.

I think it’s good stuff, but like any tape it becomes worn out after a couple of sessions. At the moment I’m making some serious product developing – I wonder how the result would be if I first put the duct tape and then this “special tape”...

--

By the way, I just got a new nickname from my 4-year old sister. So far “Laatta” (= something like “slab” in English) was just the place where I shred at summer, but now it’s almost officially my name too. :D

I hear the call of “Navetta”, I’ll go to shred.

edit: woo-hoo, 7 pages already and the story still continues...

The cruise is tomorrow. Usually I've found cruises really boring. Obviously one should drink alchohol to get the right mood but I think I won't be trying that. :D
This time, like said before, I'm going to shred there so maybe it'll be more interesting this time. (I've had dreams about those wall-to-wall carpets! )

Blah...I should probably start to return this blog back to interesting, ie. post at least something.

Yup, the cruise last weekend was ok. Like I said (or did I?) it was a political event, which made it funny cause all the politicians I had before seen only on TV were there just walking, and without bodyguards whatsoever (well, the president candidate Niinistö had a couple of them - that's what I read from the paper after the cruise, couldn't really notice that there aboard :D ).
The only bad thing was the rough sea. The ship was moving for the whole cruise and did stop only for 30 minutes at one point. And in November the wind and the waves are quite heavy which made the ship rock hard (literally and probably metaphorically too). I had done a cruise a couple of years ago in fall, and after that I took oath that I'd never do it again at that time of year. Last time we were more or less sea-sick though actually no-one drank anything.
This time the only 'victim' was my sister who had to spend the whole evening in the cabin (no party tonight, niahahah  ). I ate my stomach full at the buffet, but luckily didn't took any 'major damage' because of that. :)

I played there only 45 min, and that on Saturday. The ship rocked quite much to left and to right all the time, so this increased the hardness factory. 8) Mainly my viewers were people who came for a smoke next to me, or then just random drunk people. Most likely both.
One of the drunk smokers said that he knew someone from Mikkeli who was a Finnish Champion at footbag! He had just played floorball with him last week, though I don't know if he was really serious. I don't know any shredders nor spikers from Mikkeli. And all the footbag players I know better than just the name are shredders.
But...

...I earned first time something with playing footbag!!! 8O So long my amateur days, I'm a *pro* now! :D

Some kid gave me 20 cents. I first said that he should keep his money himself (politely, I didn't want to take the kid's "last coin"), but he said that I played so well.
Actually, that was the first time someone said to me that I played well, and it came out with a voice of an expert. The little fella was as cool as a stone as he showed me the money. :D (Some others have of course said "wow"s and "cool"s etc. but I thought this was funny.)

On Sunday there was less rocking, but I didn't actually have time for shredding, i.e. I had very much time but I never had enough for a proper kick session.

The best thing I got was this überchic (<-- that's called "raping foreign languages" in Finland) babyblue "Niinistö" bracelet.

That shall be enough about the cruise, then some real action.

----

The weather here is cooling, already under zero. I've played twice this week; first I chose the music and planned some runs and combos what I'd like to fit there. Nothing too big, I don't want to do trick>drop>rpt the whole time in the Finnish Champs'05...that are held on the *2.-3. of December* in Kuopio.
Since the it's getting a bit too cold to shred in The Navetta, I'll have to start looking for the times at sport halls. Next week is again the exam week, which means helluvalot reading but also shorter days, which means possibility to shred indoors after school. That's really what I need for preparing for the competitions (think about it - to win the Intermediate, I have to perform my routine (that I'm still heavily planning) three times!).

After the exams starts a new period. After these two first, really crappy ones, I'd reaaaaaally like to have a bit easier period.

Yay, I'll go watch Everwood now. :P

Gah, the back pain is back. :x
Just when I was getting the Atomic-set down, it started aching. Taking a time to see a specialist sucks too, because I'd have to wait 2 weeks before it, and in that time the pain would probably be already gone.
Stretching it is, the solution.

The *super-nicest* thing is that the *FFO* is in less than few weeks and I *suck*. I haven't planned the routine completely yet, not talking about practising it. And the thing with practising anything looks pretty f-wording bad at the moment.
Stretching.

The next period is okay. 9-13 (!!!), 9-15, 8-15, 9-15 and 8-13 and even the subjects look easy enough (som automatisk databehandlung).

Yay, at the moment I'd like something that'd cheer me up.
Well, reading to the history test tomorrow doesn't belong to that category.

S-T-R-E-T-C-H-I-N-G is footbag player's gospel.

I love you too, Mr. Green.

Doing nothing and stretching has helped a bit with the back. Tomorrow after the test I'll have plenty of time before the floorball games start (which I'm going to participate). I'll try shredding gently. :)

In lukio (I don't bother to explain the Finnish school system cause I'm confident that those who read this a) know it; b) don't even want to know) we have - praise the Lord - only one music course you have to take. It includes a singing test. Tomorrow. Yee-HAA. :)
I'm thinking to perform Oolannin sota. (is that punk? if you Riku ever happen to read this, please answer me...)

The only good thing with this back injury is that I think I've developed as a juggler. I'm even going to ask Santa for juggling balls. :)

This back's killing me.
Today at floorball I was able to "give my 100%" in the rink only for the first 30 seconds (GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL), then the back made it impossible to run. After that I could only give my 20%. We have no substitutes, so I still had to play the whole 30 minutes there, just "not to let my team and comrades down".
Anyways, we - of course - won the game (16-4), and this was by far the toughest opponent in the whole tournament.
"I did my best and saw how long it last."

The sport teacher who's running that shiz agreed that I've very likely sprained the lower back muscle which now is stiff and put pressure on the hip nerve. I can feel the pain when I lift my right leg or jump a bit.
I think that practising Atomic set might have a certain connection with this injury.

I put some Ice Power three times today to my back and also did stretching. Now I'm going to see if I can get someone to massage my back. :)

Yay, played for 30 minutes today.
I found out a couple of things:
- the game could've gone worse during the pause
- I'll have to rush to get something practised before the nationals
- I took it easy and stopped training when the back informed about the stiffiness

This all happened in The Navetta, which was pretty cold, but tomorrow after school I'll have time to shred in a place with heating.
My sister bought me some cold gel - the cheapest in the market, lol. This tube sucks, because everytime I'm trying to open it some cold gel gets sprinkled around the place. And the effect isn't even that superb as it could be.

Although my preparation for the nationals has been a bit deficient, I'm still really excited about it. Hope I'll get something down before that. :P

1 hour games today, at school after the lessons (or actually I had German test and we got some other tests back).
Okay, some goofying around but also 'really serious' prepping for the weekend. 'Twas pretty good, felt a bit like shredding again. The bad thing is that I don't want to risk anything now, so no Atomics or Torques. Actually before I hurt my back again I was really close to Legbeaters. I got the both dexes, but then my clipper foot was in a weird place and I missed the bag everytime. :? Well yah, I'll start skooling it down after I get the back back in business.

Yesterday evening I had tremendeus luck; my mom was supposed to have a massage the next day (~today) but she couldn't make it. My dad couldn't make it either, so I got the booked time! (It really was lucky-lucky, cause usually you have to book the time two weeks in advance...)
Yup, it was good for the back. I had never been to a massage before, so what I had thought earlier was something from Donald Ducks - the massager would crack the back muscles and the one who's being massaged screams for pain.
In real life it was quite easy, but damn relaxing [eli siis jos luita ei mene poikki, niin hieroja on pelkkä "rasvanlevittäjä" kuten isäni, vanha kilpahiihtäjä asian sanoi...].
I still recommend it. :D

Heh, heh, heh, heh...where's the beef!

Sorry, I just remember Homer laughing at it on an old episode of The Simpsons. I should remember where it comes from, but I'm at a loss for now. :?

Oh yeah, now I remember, it was for an '80s commerical for Wendy's. Thanks to Allen for that one.

Oh yeah, Wendy's is an American fast-food restaurant chain if you didn't know.

I just came back from Kuopio from the Finnish Championships and am pretty damn tired after the well-slept last night.

The event was quite small but the spirit was good. Lots of shredding and not that much of this sleeping thing. IMO, sleeping is soooo overrated and hyped thing these days. There's plenty of time to rest when we're dead, so why not using the time we've got to something else?

On the other hand, everything wasn't that great: I managed to get my Visa Electron sucked to the insides of a cash machine. :x I'll get it back next week they said when I called to the info.
Thanks to Samu Ahola for the financial help.

OK, I'll go to take some ZZZ now.

I'm the Finnish Champion in Intermediate Freestyle Footbag (there were two competitors in intermediate though...)

Booo! You've got the wrong Lauri, Jeremy!
I'm Lauri Jaakkola. The one you think I am is Lauri Airinen. (...see, we have the first name.:) Anyways, props to you for all the "O'Wheel Mark ..." tricks, they're phat, Jeremy! :D )

You can see both of us in this pic (I'm on the left with the orange jacket and Lauri Airinen is sitting there next to me on my right).

I can still tell about the combos I hit there, can't I? :)
I hit my first 4-4-4: Dimwalk > Ripwalk > Ripwalk. That was actually the only new thing I hit there, I tried to save my back.

I played footbag. :D

For two hours, after playing 75min volleyball. After shredding I played a floorball game (which we - naturally - won $;') ).

I've finally discovered the technique of double-over dex. I think.
Today I footed DOD like 100 times but sure as hell I couldn't nail it. Maybe tomorrow then. I hadn't been practising the dexes very much until the day before yesterday, when I started training barefeet at home.
Shredding was nice in general, though the floor at the school's sport hall feels really slippery compared to The Navetta and The Laatta, which have concrete.
And I guess my hockey tape modifications made the slipping even worse. Yup, even more fun: these modifications are (surprise, surprise!!!) caused by shredding on concrete! 8)

I'm also waiting for my Legbeaters to go boom soon.
But now I'll go to 'love my body', i.e. stretching. :)

EDIT: I hit Gyro Mirage; didn't plan it very much and hit it only from the other side - I can't remember which side it was though

It's winter. I've got only 2-3 shred sessions weekly now, though I'll try to practise some things like DOD barefeet at home too.
When the Christmas holidays start in about two weeks, I'll have zero opportunities to shred properly with shoes. I'll have to organize something.

So it seems that now when footbag playing decreases a bit, the footbag talk decreases a lot. This means that writing in my blog in general sinks near zero, or then I'll replace the footbag talk with BullSshit.
Starting now.

There's a renovation going on here. Now I've been evacuated from my room. No, my room isn't being renovated, but it's upstairs and the stairs are being painted and I can't live there.
I have to sleep in our living room, and my little brother sleeps there too. Yesterday night we played Texas Hold 'em for three hours, using our little sister's Lego Duplo bricks as chips. 8)
My brother played for the first time. He won. :x

I heard that I've been asked to play Santa Claus at at least two of our neighbours. It's okay, and you usually get a small tip for it, although I'm not very sure how credible I was: at least my little sister (last Christmas 3 years) realized that it was me in about five seconds. Though I think we saved the situation pretty nicely. What concerns me, is that she's this year four and a lot sharper...

Blah, I'm bored.

I hate slippery floors, just like the ones that are in the school's sport halls here. Makes shredding reaaally exhausting to shred when the feet slip all the time. Nice to practise stepping-shuffle and torques. :?

Well I had a session yesterday. First it seemed that I couldn't go to either of the sport halls I have a connection to by bus, but after a phone call I managed to get to the newer one (which is closer to me and more slippery floor than the other place). I guess that I stayed there for 1.5 hours.
I also think that my cd-player has taken some damage, because it didn't play my records and showed only "error". I think I'll by a portable cd-player which are as cheap as bread now when everybody wants an mp3-player. I'd need a pair of loudspeakers of course, but I think I could manage to find a pair in a reasonable price. Actually I've got an mp3-player, but I'm too lazy to convert even my OWN cds to it. ;)

I really wish that I'd get some editing equipment for Chistmas I asked for... I guess I could start to do some filming again. :) (Still haven't edited anything I filmed last time).

Next session will be on Friday, I've been planning to start to do some other excercises too to 'develop' my body.

Jees, katselen The Joulukalenterin 13.12. nyt ensin kun sain sen ladattua ja meen vetään vähän jumpp...kuntopiiriä.

It's Thursday morning, 8.20 AM. I'm just wondering if I should have a small session before I go to school, I'd have about 30min time... I'm feeling a bit sleepy though. :? What should I do?
