he just doesnt need all that other fancy stuff...hardcore shred at its best can also make a perfect routine imo

Just curious to hear your opinions. What are the best freestyle footbag routines you ever saw, whether live or on video. and why?
I'll start:) (in no particular order)
Lon Smith's "Black and White" routine at Worlds 2001
very impressiv, very creative routine, killer idea to swap a black and white bag midstring continuously. unfortunately rumor has it that each "swap" of the bag was awarded a drop by the jury. i think that routine was much underrated that year and should have come at least second.
Eric Wulff's finals routine at Euros 01
i think everything came together for Eric on that one. he was in great form and the crowd loved him. his performance matched the feel of the music perfectly (and i don't mean he "shredded to the beat"!!!) although he later admitted that was more of an accident than on purpose. still one of the greates footbag performances i've seen.
Ole Schnack&Jan Zimmermann's Doubles Finals Routine at Euros 01
simply becasue it was the best i ever felt performing footbag! we had the routine planned out from a-z and every single thing worked! plus the crowd was going nuts cos ole is the showmaster.
Isabelle Widmer&Nadine Beyeler's Doubles Finals Routine at Euros 02
Same reason as above, with every second of their perfectly choreographed and executed routine you could see how surprised and happy the girls were themselves at how good things were going.
Niki Bagic's Finals Routine at the Swiss Nationals 03
This I have to add kind of in (). I watched Niki practice this routine countless times so I knew how it was supposed to look and was therefore a little biased when I watched the real performance. He exceeded all my expectations on the presentation (I had never seen him that full of energy), but his execution was not as good as he is capable of. Still Niki is one of the few people I know who knows how to put together a routine and actually makes the effort to do it.

Although I think he doesn't really plan or choreograph his routines he always has enough good ideas to make watching them worthwhile. Plus he's a natural performer who projects and multiplies the enrgy he gets from an audience.
Marc Inzingers Finals Routine at Euros00
Although not a very charismatic figure on stage, Marc Inzinger was on the peak of his footbag career that night in Paris. His routine was perfectly choreographed and executed and many agree that he should have taken the title of european champion that night (he placed second behind Justin Sexton).
Illka Malins Finals Routine at Euros 99
Stylewise Illka is and has always been my favorite player. And at Euros 99 he had the crowd wrapped around his (broken) finger. It was a great moment to see.
oh and almost forgot:
The tripple freestyle routine that's on the Tricks of the Trade II Video
That just blew me away!!!!
I probably missed a few but those were some of the greatest moments I had with freestyle routines. You will notice that there is a lack of "recent" stuff. That's partly because I don't go to tournaments as much as I used to, partly because I've seen too much of the same old stuff (i.e. "shredding to the beat"), and mostly because I think creativity and varity are lacking in today's routines. Or rather creativity and variety are drowned by the players' ambition to at least come somewhere in the vicinity of the difficulty of a Vasek or Ryan routine.

Probably not actually the best routine on camera but Ryan 2001 finals routine was the routine that got me into footbag so that routines had the biggest impact on me of any routine.
Apart from that I'd say either Ryan finals 2002 or Vasek semi finals 2002.
I'm not a fan of gimmicky "circus" style routines but of routines that demonstrate the incredible skill, strength and timing needed to be at the top - as well as real well thought out choreography. I think Vasek and Ryan generally have really professional routines which are unsurpassed, not just due to skill level but approach to routines. I think I agree with Honza that Ryan (and Vasek) is one of the first real artists of footbag.

my favorite routine ever was one of peter Irish's routines in 1997. I can't remember where it was at, but his friend is playing this australian instrument called a digi-something (digidoro maybe?). It's featured on tricks of the trade 2. It probably was not the hardest rouitne ever performed trick-wise, but I really like the music and the feel
