I couldn't believe what I was reading... Man I'm writing a comment to them at the moment... it's gonna be flamish!

Baaaaaaddddd. Oh yeah, as a new footbag player I look up to Steve Blough so much..

.
......

not at all. But I mean like, it's kinda shitty of them to praise Steve Blough as the god of footbag when really he's not. Singling anybody out as a sort of "god of footbag" is kinda stupid. I mean sure Vasek is awesome, and right now he's #1 in the world. But footbag is always changing, and one day there'll be someone better. But was Steve Blough EVER ranked #1 in the world? I dunno....it just seems that an article basically calling someone the god of footbag without doing anything other than interviewing that one guy is kinda weak.

EDIT: 10-12 hours per day?!!?! At age 33, the possibility of that being true seems a liiiittle farfetched to me. I mean, I'm 19 and just going to college and I barely have time for 1 hour a day. How can a grown man who has to support himself in say that? So much bullshit.

EDIT 2: "I had no formal training" There's formal training for footbag? This is ridiculous. I'm getting pissed reading this article, seriously.

EDIT 3: "Treating the footbag just as an object to impress people is not in my consciousness. I have little time to act upon such trifles. I’m not saying that people who do shredding and stalling are not worthy people. It is just that I have taken freestyle footbag into a realm of its own." All this stuff that he's saying is just downright pretentious. Oy!

what I want to know is, where does this guy live, and does he ever even go to tournements? I would doubt it seeing as how everyone would argue with him the whole time.

he comes off kinda communist too. " Harmony is foreign to competition"
Let's send this guy to go live in cuba or something, I'm sure he'll find a lot of harmony there.

Here's my reply (on the site, which lets you comment) and I encourage others to help out:

Anybody... and I mean anybody who knows a single tiny lick about footbag knows that this entire sham of an article is an insult to what modern freestyle footbag really is. This whole article is a sham and is probably the result one friend hyping another friend. Nothing more. STOP THE MADNESS. Please don't be so quick to compare yourself to the likes of M.J. That's straight nonsense of the most bombastic kind. Half of the real footbag community could outshred Mr. Whatever-his-name-is blindfolded with their feet tied together. And this is fact, despite whatever pretentious beliefs they may hold. Thankfully, nobody will read this silly farce because the only people that care about footbag are people in the know.

The first couple of days I kicked non-stop for 10 to 12 hours each day. My friend told me I was a natural. She said she had never seen so much talent and dedication.
Damn, they must be living in some kind of abandoned village

That was me :) - I think this is kind of old news now but I wouldn't get too stressed about it anyway - if you check out the site and the guy who wrote it, it's clear that they're all as mad as mr. Blough. I'm sure that there is very little negative effect on the community or the sport from such an article - especially in light of the very first two comments. People are intitled to their own opinions and I think the only worthwhile responce is to laugh. Freestyle footbag right now is much bigger than "bloughchi" will ever be. I don't think anything is achieved by getting worked up by such a load of nonsense.

That's ridiculous. There are plenty of socialists, anarchists, extreme lefties, communists, pinko greenie tree huggers and other such politically inclined people in freestyle footbag. Many of them are also in high positions of power on this forum and with the IFPA. With out these people the cause of freestyle footbag would be set back considerably.

IF anyone should've been interviewed it should have been KENNY SHULTS

I had to write a 5 page research paper about someone who has revolutionized a field of something...and I chose Kenny Shults for footbag! NOT Steve Blough

Yes I'm in full agreement with all of this very sensable logic. However, it's still FUN-AS-HELL to make fun of the guy. And considering his position on something that we hold very dear, I think it's entirely appropriate to CLOWN the guy.

You're making fun of me, right?

Hells no! Footbag is only a sport, and thus only as big or little as the peeps who play. There's a guy in my circle who sometimes wears salty drawals... you gotta combat that somehow!

I have to admit to not being so big sometimes. But I think that given the high ground that this moron (the guy on the site) takes, I say roll with it and play his cards for him. In that case, I'll play small and smak'em up with a cold diss upside the head. I.e. if he's going to look down on me, fine, I'll give him a reason to.

PS I think the G-Unit thread in the Equipment section has my inner gangsta swarming, unchecked, ready for the driveby.

Lets be honest, wouldnt you say freestyle is more of a pastime than a sport?
