advice: frame-by-frame video

Post by DoctorJay »

I just found out that it helps me to look at those frame by frame picture series.

It is so good to watch every single movement of the player.

Do you have any idea where you can see such series and maybe print them out .

I can understand/remember things much better when I am able to print them instead of viewing them on screen. Moreover you can take your printed version to the session as well and start the school- and watching procedure.

Thanks for the links or maybe you got the knowledge to post such series .
I could host them on my footbag.org account if you like.

Thanks in advance!

Hey Jochen!

I'm sure there is a program that helps you to create these frame by frame image series.
But at the moment i don't know any keywords to search for this program :(

Maybe there is someone here in the forum who knows a programm!

The only think i could imagine is to take the video and to make several screenshots and then to put it together to one picture.
This might be a solution, but a complex one :wink:

See ya!

If you have imagemagick installed, you can do this with a simple shell script.
This works on MacOS X and other unixy computers, where the arguments are the ID for the window to capture from, and the number of shots to take.

#! /bin/sh
let x=1

# loop until it has captured the number of captures requested
while [ "$x" -le "$2" ]
do
import -window $1 "capture$x.miff"
# uncomment the line below
# if you want more time in between screen captures
# sleep 2s
let x+=1
done

A much better alternative would be to use mplayer:

mplayer -vo jpeg <filename>
