Klemens - Herzlich Willkomen beim Modified! We have to figure out a way to kick together more often (so that my legs don't get injured from concrete floors). I'm always learning something new when we kick together, especially when it comes to ATOMIC sets! Hopefully we can inspire each other so that you feel better about your game and progress. Also, we should talk about plans to the Vienna jam. :D

Alex - Thanks for writing to my blog! I really understand what you mean about having shin pain. If you look on the modified Injuries forum topic you will see a long thread about shin splints. You should read this, although you probably already have. In particular, calf stretches have really saved my footbag game. The good news is that I think this pain is manageable, if you try to understand it.

Verena, Vienna Crew - I really want to make it to the jam in Vienna, though I may not be able to make it. (75% chance that I can make it.) I have a Christmas party the night before for the Styrian Men's Choir that I've joined. :) 8O :) I'm the youngest one there by 15 years! I can barely underestand German, much less Austrian German. So Styrian dialect is impossible, but I'm trying to sing "Heast as nett..." or something like that. But I digress... So I will plan on coming to the jam and I'm super excited! Will you please post the URL when you have the finalized information? I'll probably need a hotel, etc.

Thanks so much and kind regards!

Hi David!

You really should make it to the jam cause we need some international competitors :)
Props for joining a Styrian Men's Choir sounds really funny.
I think you wont need a hotel except you want your own room.Otherwise you will find a place to sleep in one of the footbag-vienna`s crewmember`s places.

Session with David

Post by Klemens »

I just came home from a session in David's Living Room ;)

It was pretty cool - btw.: David, I was faster than you to write in here :D

We tried to do many drills, and so we did many combinations, that I don't hit normally in a run.
so, for me the best one was:

ripwalk-ripwalk-osis rpt
The stepping set out of an osis is one of the things my game really misses. and so i was really happy to hit that combo finally.

Other really cool drills have been:
dimwalk - blur - dlo - rpt (only david hit this one - props!)

ducking clip - whirl rpt
ripwalk - wirl rpt
...david help me! I forgot the most ones!

but to say it again: REALLY good SESSSION!
cya

ps: I try to put David in my suitcase, when I travell to Kick-mas-jam 8)

I'm writing because I've become quite sure now that the injury I've had to battle with is actually related to the patellar tendon and NOT shin splints. So please disregard my previous post about looking at the shin splint forum in the health and injury forum. I started a forum on this pain and got at least a little useful advice "Can you name this pain in 3 notes?" it's also in the health and injuries forum. Finally, by searching on the string "patellar tendon" or "jumper's knee" you will find all kinds of stuff online. I'm still doing research on what may be done to prevent the problem, in terms of stretches or strengthening. :x

Kind regards,
-David

Thanks David!
I've already seen the thread and wanted to post in it, but I've read it at work and at home I forgot about it. Thanks for making it. I also wanted to ask about it but I had problems to describe my problem in english.
For me it's a lot better now, although I didn't do much against it. I guess it was the weak muscles after 2 weaks no-shredding which caused the patella tendon to overreact. Still not 100% okay, but I guess (hope) it's just a matter of time.

Todays session was okay. I felt so weak and tired but managed to hit some nice runs and one new move:
stepping ss drifter :D

See you soon

boah I saw this dog before in a blog and have to say it is really ugly not a good choice as an avatar - of course you can keep it but then it will prevent me from reading vienna's blog or your blog - maybe there are others who think the same.

urgghhhh ugly annoying advertisement in your signature. How about you take out the animation from your advertisement and I'll take down my ugly dog. I can barely read anything you write anyways because I'm so distracted by that thing. Additionally, why couldn't you post your complaint to my blog, which you clearly knew about? Instead you drag the Vienna blog into it, now I'm going to have people annoyed at me for this conversation.

If people are truly disturbed by the dog, i have no problem taking the picture down, it's just a joke. But it doesn't seem like you are in the position to take the high ground here.

-Vienna crew - Sorry guys, I won't continue this here.

what's going on here? 8O 8O
a clash about an an avatar? 8O
how old are you?
i think it's clear that it's everyone's own decision what avatar they choose, as long as it's not racist or really offending.

that's a link to the dog's diary!

@welcome to modified, klemens!! it's awesome to """see""" you here! :D

.
.
so. yeah. i passed my exam. got a 2 which is pretty good since 5 is the worst and 1 the best mark. :D :D

i only played footbag once this week! that's really sad!
that was yesterday. first i was really, really tired, but then i kind of woke up, only to twist my ankle 10 minutes later.
fortunately it wasn't a bad twist, but it stopped me from playing well, because i couldn't really use my left clipper anymore.
i hate that. i twist my ankle so often, really. and it's always my left ankle. my ankle is swollen now, but actually i think that my left ankle is swollen since austrian championships in september.
almost hit reverse swirl>ripstein>reverse swirl>ripstein. that would have been really cool. three times i just fucked up the second dex of the last ripstein.

next time i play will be on monday.

Yeah Alex, really looking forward to seeing fbv-footage!!!

Yesterday I probably had my worst session ever. My legs felt so tired. I dropped and dropped. I've not been able to do more den 10contact-runs. It was so fucking bad. I think it was because of this very strange weekend. I ate so much this weekend... you can't imagine.
This was something like a pre-christmas-eat-competition.

I definitely want to shred today. Just to see, whether I just had a bad day yesterday or if my game totally sucks

But there are some really good news too. Till now, there are about 6 people from Linz pretty sure to come to the kick-mas-jam.
I hope that some more will join us.
Too bad, that Roman and Martin are already in Lech.

So, greetings from Graz!
See you next week! yeah!

fortunately i played this week more than last week. well, that wasn't hard though.
.
.
hmmm. i didn't play really well this week. don't know...my legs are feeling pretty good...it's probably a mental thing.
.
today i had a solo session and it wasn't bad. practised a lot of pixie stuff. flip ss smear felt really good.
things i can remember that i either hit on monday, wednesday or today were:
-ss smear>smear
-fear>fairy butterfly>pdx mirage>fear>fairy whirl>run
-smear>fear>legbeater>pdx whirl>run
-tapping rake
-run with tapping butterfly and legbeater (my atomic set's finally getting a lot better)
-a few nice atomsmashers to start a run with
-barfly>pdx whirl (finally!)

at the moment i'm really busy with writing two different assignments. one about a labour contract, the other one about a vegetarian nutrition in competitive sports (so interesting!).

and, yahoo, tomorrow i'll leave vienna to vistit a friend of mine in innsbruck which is five hours by train away. i'm gonna take my snowboard with me!!
i'll be back on sunday or monday!
yeah! snowboarding! :D

Yippiee!!! Cool session yesterday in the WUK. Not many people showed up, but still okay. Practiced a lot of flipside. I had one crazy long run starting with pheonix > ripwalk (felt super clean) and including pixie dlo midstring :) Some new stuff was hit too:
- dyno > dyno
- datw(fs) > legover > datw
- SUPERFLY 8)

I got a new cam one week ago and made a short vid of me (+ special appearance by Tommy) trying out premiere pro. Nothing special, just some combos.
