Pdx pickup?

Post by Guest_2 »

Why doesn't a clipper>pickup or legover get a Paradox add?

Its just a hole in the add system really. Don't let that stop you from doing the trick. That move is at least as paradox as "paradox" whirl. :?

EDIT: this post was in reference to pdx pickup, not far legover. Pdx pickup has a double hip pivot, whereas far legover does not.

Thanks! I wanted to submit all guiltless into my Sick Three, so I think I'll have to substitute it for a pdx Mirage

Thanks!

Also keep in mind that Sick 3s aren't necessarily judged on adds. In fact, I might give more props to pdx pickup than pdx mirage, just because it is less common and therefore more eye-catching. It also depends on how it is linked as well.

hmm interesting. These days I tend to find pickups easier than mirages because it's less footwork. I still hit mirages way more than pickups but almost all my consecutive records ending with pickups are bigger than my consec records ending with mirages. I think mirage is easier to learn than pickup but pickup is actually an easier move - less footwork for pretty much the same dex.

I generally agree, but there are exceptions . Atomic pick up is harder
than atomsmasher imo.

Jeremy, what do you think about pdx double pick up in term of adds ?
I believe it is four adds - normally pick ups dont get a pdx add, but
shouldnt one see the frist dex for what it is - a miraging dex, thus
"pdx add worthy"

How do you see it ?

Reaper doesn't get xdex while Illusion has more dexterity than Mirage.

And imo it shouldn't.

No I believe the add system should be based on logical reasoning that applies to all moves rather than simply saying "this move feels like this so it should get an add". Pdx is not a feeling that moves have - it's when you do a far full dex. People talk about double hip movements etc - watch players like Vasek - none of their "pdx" moves have double hip movements - they position themselves well and early. You can do pdx moves in a range of different ways making the move harder or easier and more or less stylish - the common link is that all moves with a genuine far full dex get a pdx add and all other moves don't. The only exception I believe is nuclear ss moves that are followed with an opside component - ie. moves that would get a pdx add if it were not for the nuclear set. Again this is for logical reasons - ie if pdx mirage is a 3 add than clearly you are doing one more component to pdx mirage with a nuclear ss mirage and you should get another add. I don't believe the add system has anything to do with how moves "feel". Personally for me pdx dlo on my strong side is just as easy as clip or toe set non pdx dlo - they feel exactly the same. Because of the way the move feels should I still get an extra add for pdx dlo? Should each individual player have a different add system applied to them based on how moves feel to them? Of course not.

:D hmmm, interesting.

I never, not even around my closest family, said that i believe, adds had
anything to do with feelings.

The add system is as logical as it can be, and we all know, pdx mirage is
a 3 add move, simply because there are 3 components defining/describing
this move.
I, infact, only stated, that i have problems with that "logic" since
double pickup would be the same thing like pdx mir, just with more dex .

So i wondered, if one added an extra dex - a same pick up in this case -
how many adds this move would have, since it has one more component
than normal pdx mirage.

If both of the dexes arent considered neither far and/or full, then of course, (far) double pick up is only three adds.
