cool article too bad they never refered to footbag as a sport and said that the ifpa is a group trying to get footbag recognized as an olympic event, but other than that it was great

He did, actually, mention IFPA and the olympics. Yeah, too bad about no "sport", but at least there's some history, clarification on "hacky sack" and an active link to .org ...

The Clavens and company story is pretty snazzy too. I thought it covered a lot of important topics with pretty good flow-- what equipment is needed, what sort of skills are required, what the atmosphere is like, how to get involved. Overall, pretty darn good.

I read the link to f.org about Steve G. I dunno, I think this article has flaws, no doubt, but it's not nearly as offensive as the Article about Steve B!! I see where he's coming from, saying that this one was more "stupid" then "mean" but I think I do preffer it that way... I think this article is pretty good... it has my aproval

PS: What's this about him using a 32-p filled with BB's and sand?? I've never presonaly tried it, but I've only ever heard about how bad that is...

allan i meant that it was a bad thing he mentioned the ifpa as an organization trying to get it recognized as an olympic event. i think it makes the ifpa sound kinda stupid. instead of saying that the ifpa is the governing body of footbag trying to help further the sport or something like that

but i do think as a whole the article is a good thing, just picking at a couple things i thought could've been better.

My god that was horribly written. It really gives me hope that I can get a job by the pen. If that person can make a living like that...

If you knew nothing about footbag, that article would give you the impression that it is all kicks, that judging at events is arbitrary, and that there are no major scenes in the world. Such a waste too, considering they had one of the East Coast's premier players to interview too.

Gah, the only hope is that if anybody reads it, they may check out footbag.org by accident.

In the future if somebody writes an article about me, I will offer/insist to proofread the article before it goes to press, just to "fact-check" it. Oy.

hahah the title is grammatically incorrect. "Mount Olive Students Gets a kick out of Hackey Sack" obviously should read 'Get'.

Alright, at first I thought it was a decent story, but I guess I'll side with the cynics on this one. I guess reporters should dig a little deeper when doing any story. In all honesty though, footbag is a difficult sport to grasp to a casual observer, and even going to footbag.org may not give enough clarification. Yeah the FAQ is detailed, but maybe a little too cmplex and difficult to understand for someone who's just writing a story about 3 local high school students. But I think Ken hit it on the head. Just ask to review the article, and ask them to mention some more pertinent facts next time. Oh well, at least the site got mentioned.

This is good experience that we can all take lessons from for future press.

I handed that guy so much good stuff to write on. Explained adds, stalls, dexes, tournaments, everything. I guess it just didn't connect. Sucks that my name is attached to this, but he didn't even focus on Chris and I, just non-important stuff.

Oh well.

Yeah, plus there's no reason to stop there. Maybe you guys can get with another reporter from a different publication and show him how he can 1up the guy by telling a better story, and revealing the TRUTH behind footbag...What is it those crazy kids are doing anyway?
