Sony also broke the LGPL and GPL licenses by using open source code in the rootkit. So they break copyright laws to prevent people from breaking them. More info.

Also the first removal program removed the rootkit, but left the DRM program on your computer. Turns out that the DRM program alone is vulnerable. More info.

And now the removal program on Sonys webpage installs an ActiveX component on your computer that gives a possible attacker the right to run any program they want through a webpage.

im probably going with the ps3...it looks soo much better than 360.

But i also wanna get 360 purely for halo3, that game is gonna be insanity. I havent really decided what i want more, im probably gonna go with whatever one my friends get.

Sony is one of the largest corporations around, they're completely effing stupid. NO company in their right mind would make such a poor buisness decision. I really doubt all these rumors are true, but you never know.
btw I noticed tsiangkun's source was The Inquirer, the same magazine that found the bat child, says there proof that elvis is still alive, and says they've found big foot in every three freakin' issues!

Given Sony's history I wouldn't be surprised at all if this is true. Fact is that Sony had a huge user base from the Playstation one and they've completely used that to bring out a technically inferior product (compared with other things on the market) with the Playstation 2 and now with the playstation 3. They go with the easy and cheap options for themselves because they can be guaranteed that no matter what problems and other issues the playstation 3 will have - it will still sell like hot cakes.

PS3 is gonna F'N RULE!!!@!@!@! You'll see, these are just rumors to generate hype. The cell processor that they're using is supposed to be going into all of our electronic products in the future. It's really powerful. Anyway, see you guys in Spring. Remember, if they do pull some licencing subscription fee on the normal games you would buy from the store, just in order to play them, I'll do something really crazy like drink a whole bottle of hot sauce.

They said the exact same thing about the emotion engine (PS2 chip). Im not a sony hater or MS/NES lover, but sony hasnt lived up to the potential after the PS1 (which I may add was actually a Nintendo product that Nintendo backed out of).

@ footbinc: Yeah, but PS2's were amazing when they came out. You can't compare a ps2 with an xbox or even game cube. Xbox and gamecube came out like years after so the technology was way better.

Sorry, my post wasnt clear. It wasnt directed at anything to do with MS or NES, but at the Hype around the Cell/Emotion Chips that sony has made. Emotion engines were supposed to be everywhere and do this and that, same thing they are saying with the cell engine now.

@ footbinc again: who cares if they say that and it doesn't happen the point is they said it with the ps2, and the ps2 kicked major extreme ass (that is, before GC or xbox). From what I've heard the ps3's processor will be awesome, regardless of where else it ends up.

I know I'm not the only one that thought the PS2 sucked balls. As others said, they just tried to ride the success of the PS1. In my opinion, the playstation 2, out of the 3 consoles, had 1) the worst graphics on average, 2) worst developed games (i.e. crashes, glitches, etc.), and 3) the least original lineup (minus Katamari Damacy). I can't believe people would say how great the PS2 was, or how awesome the PS3 was. What system have you guys been playing??? Seriously-- even the one crown jewel of the Playstation, MGS, had its ass handed to it by Splinter Cell.

I'm just confused/sick of people saying how great Playstation was and how back the Xbox/Gamecube was/were.

What I mean is; no shit XBox and Game Cube are better - obviously - that part is unarguable, but like I said XBox and Game Cube came out way afterwards, it would be more reasonable to compare a Dreamcast to a PS1 (which in my opinion is still an unfair comparison). Actually judging by release dates it would make more sense to compare a PS2 to Dreamcast than a PS2 to an XBox/Game Cube, because they came out at more similar times.

The bottom line is, the PS2's processor and all its internal shit didn't suck just because more recent systems outdate it. Furthermore, even if you think it did suck, that is no justification for assuming the PS3 will suck.
btw PS3 is coming out after X360, so that could give it an extra edge. Or maybe it will be shit who knows.

i tried playing ESPN 2k5 on PS2, sweet game on XBOX. the Framerate on the PS2 was SO FACKING BAD! IT WAS HORRENDOUS. (sp?)

Like.. xbox it was great graphics, PS2 it would LAG! wtf

What im getting at is the hype. I dont care if its good bad or ugly, that is inconsequential to my point. My point is Im not gona buy into the hype that this will be life changing and the greatest technological marvel of all time.

why? because Sony botched up their (Nintendo's) idea into the new Sony controller? Did you even look at the demo? It was ridiculous! And yeah at 600$ a system compared to what the Wii will be at (rumors have it between 200 and 300$) one can only agree with you:
