Return of Le Coq Sportif shoes

I've been meaning to post this for several weeks now... Has anyone seen that Le Coq Sportif has released an updated version of the Super Ashe (before it's discontinuation it was one of the most widely used freestyle shoes - Kenny wears them in the original Tricks of the Trade)? Even more interesting is the Smash Cup. Look:

Smash Cup looks freakishly slick! I wonder how that sole performs, seeing that that's the one thing that updated shoes are changed for the most part.

I like the toe box on this one better..very Clima-esque.

I don't know what the inside wall looks like, but I'm sure it's nothing some shoe goo can't fix.

I've always been fan of track shoes, though, myself.

I think this would be an great alternative, but if it wes cheaper than lavers...

But if the company will put effort into promoting their name in footbag (lilke sponsorship for some players, events etc.), and will try to support our sport, and just carry about the worlds of footbag enough... But hey, we don't even know if they know that footbag exist...

Ps. I know that some of you don't need any promorion to know this brand name, because you already know it for years, but I think that most of the players are the youngest one, who have never heard about this. I know it only because of reading some stuff on footbag history...

Hmm..upon further investigation, I don't know how good the inside wall is:

The instep can definitely work for freestyling with enough silicone/shoegoo. Like most people observing those shoes what I'm worried about is that inside wall of the shoe. Will it have a thin canvas for shredders to use in freestyle? Hard to say really.

If it doesn't right out of the box I'm sure it can be as easily modded as any other shoe. Since it's mesh you can just do a Laver-type inside cut, getting rid of thick, excess material.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw these... These don't look like very durable soles. Does anyone know if this is an updated model or the same?

It's tough to say. Of the three Le Coq Sportif shoes discussed above, the Smash Cup is the closest model to the original Super Ashe. However, it's difficult to tell from the pictures what type of changes may have been made to any interior material, the soles, the overall weight, etc. Here is a pic of the original Super Ashe shoe that was around in the early '90s (they look pretty similar):

Yes, the soles did fall apart very quickly....once I bought two pairs, and went through one, and opened the other one a few months later.....and the soles were rotten...what a bummer. I hope the new ones weight about the same, and I hope the sole is more durable, for the old one sure did suck. BTW, Kenny tought me how to tie my shoes, lol..... Ciao, Michael

i'm pretty sure i've read in the news (one or two years ago) that "le coq sportif" had to stop production and went bankrupt. it seems that that the coq is back. anyboy knows more about this?
i like the blue version so much.

I know nothing about that..but it kind of worries me since I just ordered these last night.
