quote]

Back in 96/97, a symposium reverse whirling swirl (when executed with the legs real close together) was known as a double helix. Then around 97, Scott Davidson started hitting reverse swirling symposium whirls, which I think were also known as Double Helix. You can see them on Skool Daze I think, but one is the. As for what is known as what now...I dunno. Kinda like how Rippin first named clip>back spin> opp back front swirl>clipper Dyno. He thought of it like a behind the back swirl, but now the move everybody calls Dyno is in fact a reverse blender. Weird.

As Kyle is my witness, I hit Barroque. Need to work hard on my seal though. It wasn't going into anything. Also, though I've hit before, had a good Symposium Barrage, Blur on both sides, and several other back to back 4s. Kyle is really kicking mad skills these days, I'll let him speak for himself if he wishes, but damn, the kid is sic! We also played a little add up game, like 1add > 2 add > 3add > etc... Mine was Toe > Illusion > Butterfly > Ripwalk > Paradox Legbeater. I'm thinking of a 6 to bust out of that! OH, and started doing hippy atomic flipside (I was always leggy), and even though I could hit leggy legbeater, I also hit it hippy today, sexy! If you can't tell, I'm mad stoked.

well, theoretically it should be symposium,
but i heard butterfly can`t be symposium,
so i decided to simply call it simple...

could someone please tell me,
if butterfly can be symposium
and if it would get an additional add...

man, i`m confused right now :?
anyway, i somehow like that type of stuff,
no matter if it`s simple, symposium or sim simma

Butterfly is always butterfly. Symposium Butterfly is more of a style than a move. It can not receive the symposium add because it is not a full dex. This is the same reason Stepping set can not be symposium (Pogo, symposium stepping, doesn't get the symp add, but it is unique).

Butterfly CAN be symposium

Post by Senor Grommet »

I also agree with chan. Butterfly can be symposium. heres why:

1) it follows the "symposium" rules. The leg that dexes in a butterfly is NOT the leg that delays, hence if the dex is done without a plant from other foot, the move IS symposium. It cannot be "simple" because the dex leg does not also catch the bag. A butterfly is caught with the foot opposite the dex leg.

2) the only reason peeps dont give symp. butterfly its extra add is because most people do it very sloppily and they pull the bag through to the butterfly position(similar to a sloppy dada curve) instead of clearly dexing the bag before the clipper delay.

Weren't you saying that no *sets* should get symposium, even flailing or wonton because it's too easy Erik? ;)

I think symp atomic clipper should be a symposium butterfly.
