Flying Osis?
Yeah I should post this in funky fresh concept thread but not as many people will read it if I do that. Soo yeah. Has anyone ever hit a flying osis? It should be called neurosis unless something else is called that.

Yeah it just sounded harder in my head I guess. I just got back from practice and . . . well yeah I did it. Flying mobius sounds like it'd be pretty fun to watch/do. K well thanks for clearing that up.

I've seen this before. A guy who kicked it with us in the NYFA for a little while, Drew Ciganek (sp?) could bust these nicely. I had never seen anyone else do them before or since.
Nathan, picture a reverse eclipse. It is fairly similar to that. Really cool looking.
Will Diggs,
Flying is like a category of moves, like "spins", or "ducks & dives", though in technical ADD-speak those are all sub-categories of "body" moves (the Body ADD category must be the broadest ADD category, involving so many very different kinds of things [flyers, spins, ducks/dives, paradox, symposium, rolls, and so many other things that are rarely seen]). Whats my point? No point, really, just rambling...

Will Diggs,
You know, flying, as in Flying Clipper, Butterfly, and Dragonfly. A jumping move. Most of them are jumping kicks, but there are some cool stalls too, like Eclipse (and many interesting variations of eclipse).Ok sorry guys im a noob, whats flying? hahha

I've sorta kinda hit flying osis. I accidentally hit a flying clipper stall too. Total fluke, I have not hit it since
Anyone hit:
Inspinning ducking flying osis?
Double spinning flying osis?
Flying Dyno?
Diving flying same osis?

How are defined "rolls"? What I must do to have Body ADD for roll exactly?Outsider wrote:Flying is like a category of moves, like "spins", or "ducks & dives", though in technical ADD-speak those are all sub-categories of "body" moves (the Body ADD category must be the broadest ADD category, involving so many very different kinds of things [flyers, spins, ducks/dives, paradox, symposium, rolls, and so many other things that are rarely seen])
What about other body adds? Where I can find list of all of them?

By "rolls" I mean rolling the footbag down a part of your leg or across some other part of your body. I think you know what I mean. I think you have already seen some of my rolls. Its a very old idea in footbag, but not much used today. I became interested mostly because I would accidentally roll the bag down the front of my thigh when kicking around in hack circles. I began to think "I wish I could do that on purpose instead of just by accident," and so one day I decided to learn. Other people in the past have mastered some rolling tricks. Allan Petersen is one great example. Mads Hole posted a video of the European Championships with some good footage of him here:How are defined "rolls"? What I must do to have Body ADD for roll exactly?

And Allan does one cool roll at about 1 minute 25 seconds. A few seconds after that his doubles partner does another kind of roll across his chest.
Kenny Shults told me some years back that rolls like that were generally awarded an ADD in the Body category.
I don't know where you could find a good list of ALL the kinds of Body ADDs right now. I think its just an understanding that some freestyle skills that require the movement of the whole body (as opposed to just the leg [though in the case of rolls it can be just the leg...]) fall under the category of Body ADD. Spins, for example, as well as jumps and ducks. If someone were to do a backflip or a cartwheel, I think it is quite clear that another Body ADD would be awarded. A list of all of them? I haven't seen a good list anywhere. Then again, ALL OF THEM haven't even been invented yet. My old IFAB rule book defines Body ADDs this way:
Body: An add category that involves extra body motions during a move; typically a flyer or spin.
The book does not go on to define all possible kinds of body ADDs, though it does go on to describe how Paradox and Symposium moves merit a Body ADD.
As I was saying before, the Body ADD category seems to me to be the broadest possible category, covering so many different kinds of elements, like jumps, spins, and ducks (as opposed to "dexterities" which are much more strictly defined as a leg circling the bag). Some elements that fall under the Body ADD category, it seems to me, are not so much a Body movement in themselves, but rather a modifier of a Dexterity move (like Symposium and Paradox) and thus could be considered distinct from the other Body moves (consider: you can have spin or a duck or a flyer with no other elements present, like a spinning kick, etc., but you cannot have a symposium or paradox without a Dexterity being involved, so right away you can see how Symposium and Paradox are distinct from other kinds of Body ADDs: they require a Dexterity to modify, unlike other kinds of Body moves). Whats my point? I don't know, just rambling again... Maybe the point is that some categories are poorly defined. It doesn't really matter anymore. In the old rules of competition, what kind of ADDs you preformed mattered more. We used to count all your unique Dexterites, all your unique Stalls, all your unique Unusual Surface ADDs, all the unique Cross-Body ADDs, and all the unique Body ADDs. In that way a competitor's Composition (variety) score could be determined. You were only allowed to earn so many points in each category, so you had to have a broad array of skills spread out amongst the different categories. That is one reason I have a problem with Paradox and Symposium being in the Body category. A competitor's game could be almost 100% dexterity tricks and they could still get points in the Body category without having to do anything but a variety of dexterity moves. Someone could completely avoid spins, ducks, and flyers and still do well on their measure of variety, when really all they did was different kinds of Dexterities. But it doesn't matter that much right now, since we don't have a composition score any more, just a Technical Merit score, which isn't as specifically designed to measure the variety in a preformance (I like to remember what a friend said to me about judging at Worlds a few years back. It went something like this: "the guy sitting next to me on the judging panel said 'that competitor did Pixie moves, Atomic moves, and Stepping moves; he had alot of variety!'". I'm pretty sure my friend meant that he was surpised and disappointed to hear that somebody serving as a judge at the World Championships would think that "Dexes, Dexes, and More Dexes" could count as alot of variety).
Anyway, like I was saying, right now it doesn't seem to matter what category your ADDs are coming from, just how many you have. Whatever. You could go ahead and call Rolls a Dexterity ADD when you do them with your leg and it wouldn't matter in any kind of competition today. ADD categories are pretty much irrelevant right now. It doesn't matter what category you get your points from, just what the total number of points are in a move. Still, with some reservations (as noted above, like Paradox and Symposium as Body ADDs) I prefered the old Composition score to the present Technical Merit score. It was the limits placed on how many points one could earn from Dexterity moves that lead me to learn more spins, flyers, and unusual surfaces, and in general I prefer those kinds of tricks today (dexes are too easy to THE and can make your knees hurt; spins and unusuals don't have this problem, though I suppose flyers can be done with poor form, making them, in a way, THE, and they can certainly deliver a pounding to the knees. And they're damn hard to control and integrate into a stalling game. I don't care... I'm still determined to get better at them...)
I think I could go on all night, but I should probably go to bed instead.
