That was absolutly insane. 14 out of 15 contacts fearless, just missed that 1 ripwalk that was ment to be a janiwalker you tell me? That's just nuts. I hope Honza and Jim Pensky and David C can stand up to you next month, because I don't see anyone else touching you superman!
2. Jon Harber
I really really liked this string! It had great variety of downtime components which I really like, and it flowed really well, everything was clean and hit had some hard links, everything looked like it was ment to be there, very few bops too . If Jorden's run wasn't so insanely difficult, I would vote you first, I actually found your string more visually appealing.
3. Phil
Some hard stuff in there and very few bops, variety was a bit limited and there were no outstanding links, but I like your style a lot and the run was clearly difficult incorperating several 5's.
4. Henry
I liked this string, a few more bops than I would have liked to see from you, but you had a good range of concepts, some 4's, and everything was pretty well executed.
5. Nic Bathgate
I was glad to get that much variety in but I would have liked to some more 4's and the whole thing looked pretty sloppy to me.
6. Jesse
Mainly bops/ducks/dives, not really enough variety, but a few cool moves in there, 15th contact was a toestall which isn't too hip.
7. Toby
Was looking really good till about the 10th contact, difficulty dropped off a bit there but still a solid effort! It's a pity more tiltless players don't enter this event!

It's 10pm and I just woke up Thought I would put all my votes and feedbacks together in one big post, here goes:

Novice Sick 1:


1. Mathieu Gauthier - That is a very cool move well executed, and it's very hard and unqiue.
2. Shota - Fairy ducking a personal favourite of mine, looked very cool, nice tight duck, and ofcourse you must have a great fairy set to duck it!
3. Hiroyuki Morita - You the man That was executed like a pro, perfect dexes, smooth delay, and a hard move.
4. Troy Ertling - That is a hard move, you would have gotten a lot more points if you did it from clip instead of toe though, set was a bit off but the dex compensated, dodgy seal though.
5. Asmus Helms - set went out a little causing a bad delay but dexs were well timed, one uptime one down, hard move.
6. Kensuke Yabutani - Very nice execution, the duck was awesome and tight and the mirage was right on
7. Joshua Rose - I must admit, I was tempted to put you first just because your so damn cool The pixie set was good and high but you should try plant your setting foot a little faster to make the butterfly smoother.
8. Ben Adler - Nice infinity, the footage is pretty sketchy but the move was well executed.
9. Chris Miller - I think the illusion dex was thin or the sorry Chris, it was also a very scooped delay which should be avoided because they are hard to set out of Props for getting in and entering though
10. David Suggate - A pretty good mirage but you turn a bit much when you do it, try doing more of a dex instead of using your body to get round the bag.
11. Ross Comings - Nice atw, good set, dex was well timed, the catch was a little bit close to your body though.

Novice Sick3:
Hiroyuki Morita - The mirage really let the combo down, and the fairy set went out a little, but apart from that this was a smashing combo! I really liked it! smear > fairy move looks cool.
Shota - The fairy legover looked awesome! Your fairy sets are REALLY good . It's a pity that clipper wasn't a butterfly though, the ducking clip was nicely executed too.
Asmus Helms - very stylie, I quite liked this combo, but I felt you paused a little long on each contact.
Kensuke Yabutani - Very cool combo 3>3>4, an easy 4 but a cool and unique one, props man.
Chris Miller - The first move is pretty easy, but the 2nd link and the drifter were really really good, I was impressed, you have a good way of timing the dexs to make it easier for yourself .
Troy Erstling - Interesting pixie legover maybe you should try doing it more crispy, it will help your set get better. Butterfly > pdx mirage looked good.
Logan Rudemiller - The rake looked wicked and your mirages are really good now! Good to see you've improved so much!
Joshua Rose - Ahh we must be soul mates, you double step on your pdx mirage just like I used to do . I better let you know, it's frowned upon because it makes a lot of things harder later on. Try setting and hopping backward to dex without your dexing foot touching the ground .
David Suggate - Each move was executed great, but you waited way to long on each contact so it didn't really flow .
Ben Adler - Again, sketchy footage is a pity The butterfly was cool, but the pickup was very dodgy and because of it I don't think the illusion was there, can't really tell.

Open Sick1 - (Frick that intro was cool )
1. Jeremy Mirkin - Holy cow, your furious sets make Gandi look like a child pornograher , truely beauty in motion! The move is VERY unique, and VERY hard, and PERFECTLY executed. Major props.
2. Honza Weber - Wow, ground breaking stuff, I have seen someone foot alpine your sister, but actually seeing alpine your mom on video executed perfectly is insane. Your crazy Honza .
3. Byrin Wylie - I LOVE this move! Man Barroques are so cool, and mobius is so cool, combine them and you have... something so magnificent it can only be discribed by one word... scrumtralecent! . I don't even care if it's thin, props!
4. Jon Haber - Flip that move is cool! It flows together so well and it's so furious! Damn, I really really really like it, almost enough to make me learn whirls and quantum right now.
5. Chris May - ZOMG! Double blender! I looooooove double blender Looks like you do too Very nicely executed dude, first dex could have been a little less uptime though.
6. Phil Morisson - Very crazy move, if I hadn't seen Vasek do it so much I think it would get more credit though! It flows nicely but looked like it rolled down ur ankle at the end, can't be sure though.
7. Anssi Sundberg - Very cool, I don't know how you get your torque so awesome and quick! A very hard move executed perfectly in my opinion .
8. Henry Griese - This is a very very hard move. Atomic is a hard set, and torque is a hard downtime = big points. Torque was slightly scooped but the set was awesome.
9. Takumi Ozawa - Very nice! Spinning ducking looked great and the blender was there Hard move! I liked your fairy mobius better though
10. Nic Bathgate - single leg tripple dex earns a lot of points, but the fairy could have been deeper.
11. Jesse Malouf - Very cool, a hard move and relatively well executed
12. Peter Bowler - Nuke is hard! Props! Very well executed, albeit in your boxer shorts Props.
13. Maxim Zakirov - Hey! SIck move man! Definatly something I would like to hit someday, it looked sweet but the first eggbeater dex looked a bit thin .
14. Jamieson Hickingbotham - Niiice, very smooth, drifter looked very economical Video was a bit dark though, and I should have streached it horizontally.
15. Joe Kulacz - Cool move, but I don't think it's too hard, set was a bit low.
16.Toby Suggate - Sweet move Tob, I think the reverse whirl could have been a bit bigger but the move is unique though not too hard.
17. Jorden Moir - Go Jorden! You break the bondage of modern freestyle constraints! Can't say I really like it or it looks too hard though man .

Open Sick Three
1.Honza Weber - Wow, now this was amazing, I can't say i've ever seen anything like it, even from Vasek... the first move was hard and origional, first link quite difficult, 2nd move is insane, having a 7 in the middle of sick3 is totally crazy, but it's the 2nd link which is the insane part, stepping out of gangsta party? Has that been done before? Not only that, but into locomotion? Wow. props.
2.Jorden Moir - WOAH, you really outdid yourself this month Jordo! 7>6>6, very nice! Good alliteration too montage > marius > mindbender
3.Phil Morrison - Man, this combo was so cool, flows so smooth, it is like a dream, I love the way you time your hops and steps, everything is beyound perfect in this combo. Props.
4. Jeremy Mirkin - Very cool combo, fog looked really good and quantum out of fog is insane.
5.Byrin Wylie - Very cool combo! Atomic ducking seems to be the flavour at the moment and I like it! Mobius was a great way to finish this combo off Props Byrizzle.
6.Chris May - Ahh! Siiick! Man this combo really did it for me, flowed so well, perfect execution, fairy ss symp mirage is coooool.
7. Jon Haber - It flows well, all the spins in the same direction, the 2nd link was especially cool. Would be cooler with gyro dlo at the start though .
8. Henry Griese - Gyro butterfly is really hard! I was trying it last night, all round a very nice combo this month Hen, props.
9. Nic Bathgate - 4>4>5 adds, 2>3>2 dexs, sounds good to me .
10. Jesse Malouf - Solid 5>5>5, done like a pro , a little unorigional though.
11. Jamieson Hickingbotham - Nice combo man! Those drifters are crazy.
12. Toby Suggate - Very cool first 4>4>4! Your pdx whirls are sick and you have a very good pixie
13. Peter Bowler - Simple combo but very well executed, props.

November 05 Sick 15 Vote

Before I go into specifics of each persons string, here's my basic philosophy of judging Sick 15.

I judged everybody by looking at the overall string. The ideal is a string of 15 tricks which is sick throughout, interesting links throughout. I don't look at adds or add ratio really, but links and variety. I'd much rather see 15 tripless, than 5 fearless followed by 8 BOPS then 2 fearless. That sort of thing. That said, onto the votes.

1. Jorden Moir. This won it easily. 14/15 fearless with a decent ratio of interesting/legit tricks (lots of pdx whirl based 5s though). I'd like to see more 5s that use your flip osis. All minor suggestions though, considering you won this so easily.
2. Jon Haber: Phil had more 5s, but you had better links. I liked that you had good links throughout. You finished with a very styly combo (rip-rev swirl-torque). 5 BOPs is a bit much, but it didn't hurt your flow.
3. Phil M: This was real close with Jon's. You had some bigger moves, but 6 BOPs is a lot. it looked like a strong start, but towards the end it really dropped off in intensity. Too many bops and easy downtime 4s at the end. I gave it to Jon in a close one because his was more consistently interesting.
4. Nic bathgate: I was very impressed. Similar to Phil though, I thought you had a great start which dropped off in the end. The 2 ducks in the end were the, which also hurt you. I thought the first 7 or so contacts were fantastic though, stepping out of spins, lots of variety, just excellent. If you can do a Sick 15 with the intensity and links of your first 7, then you would have been 2nd this month. Very good showing.
5. Jesse: What a tease! I saw your name and expected to see the shredder I played with last month, not really old footage! You've gotten so much better since this clip, you really should get a new sick 15 in for next time. Also maybe get Gareth to shoot you closer, cause it was hard to see the bag most of the time. The start of the string is good, but more variety would have scored you higher, and the string fizzled at the end. But this is all moot, since the string is so old. Submit recent stuff next time!
6. Henry: Good diversity of components. I liked seeing atomics, drifters, dlos, spins and ducks. It was great to see so many elements, but there were too many BOPs in the string to hold my interest. at one point there were 3 BOPs in a row, and throughout it looked like you could go a lot harder. I hope to see the same diversity in your next submission, with less BOPs and some harder links.
7. Toby: Props on entering Sick 15. Your foundation looks great, so I know you will improve quickly. Looking forward to it. The only reason you are last is due to difficulty, but that will take care of itself as you get better.

Novice Sick 1:
1) Mathieu Gauthier, "Outside DATW-in set from inside": styley as crap! Way to go!
2) Kensuke Yabutani, "Ducking paradox mirage": another cool, pretty unique trick.
3) Shota, "Fairy ducking clipper": The fairy is the ("ankled"), but the creativity of the move (clipper rather than butterfly) really grabs me. If it had been clean it would have bumped Kensuke down one.

My next choice was Ross Comings with his Stallbergered ATW-in -- I don't know if that was intentional or not, but it definately added style to the move. Uniqueness is a huge factor or me in judging sick 1s.
Oh another note: I felt that ducking whirl should have been in open, especially since matador is in open...so I just didn't know how to vote on a move that I feel is in a completely different category...



Novice Sick 3:
1) Asmus Helms, Pixie inside > legover > pixie same clipper: creative. I loved the inside stall and pixie same clipper...
2) Ben Adler, Butterfly > pickup > illusion: STYELY! You've got some whacky rubber legs! Kickass





Sick 15:
1) Jorden Moir: The sheer difficulty of your tripless, almost genuine-fearless!!, combo blows my mind; this takes the idea of sick 15 to a whole new level. Crazy stuff!!
2) Nic Bathgate: Intense shuffle! Go Nic!!
3) Phil Morisson: Some 5s were nice, but they were easy fives, and the amount of bails brought your score down. It was pretty close between Nic and Phil, kinda. I was pretty sure that Nic would come first, though, just from the intensity of his combo -- hardcore!



Open Sick 1:
1) Honza Weber, "Alpine your mom": GEEZ. This move is HUGE. The funny thing is the name is totally way bigger. Aragog -- that's hilarious!!! SO EPIC. Haha. Not a big fan of all the crazy senseless move names, but this one is just so funny Props Honza; this trick is unbelievable!! I hope to see it on Flipsider's Massive Trick Section soon!!
2) Jeremy Mirken, "Furious drifter": WOW!!! This was actually close for me, too. I think furious drifter takes a lot more precision and speed -- pure ability. Props on this HUGE move, Jeremy!
3) Nic Bathgate/Jesse Malouf/Byrin Wylie -- all so close. Nic loses points on the the fairy, sadly -- HUGE move, though. It was really hard to judge all these tricks after the top two. Byrin's is really big, but doesn't strike me as too unique...I think that may just be because he makes it looks way too damn easy. Jesse's flurry really struck me because of how crispy it is -- it really is more of a furious legover. Nice work guys!!




Open Sick 3:
Man, this one was SOOOO close. I'm not even sure how confident I am in my ranking of these! Honza and Jorden hit HUUGE tricks, but I loved the creativity of Nic and Chris' combos...such a hard call...
1) Honza Weber, "Atomic ducking whirl > gangsta party > locomotion": I think the locomotion really make this combo...I dunno. They're all such big tricks, especially gangsta party...but for some reason that was the least attractive move for me in the combo...this would be so much easier if all the combos were executed by one person, y'know? I feel so prejudiced and stuff...
2) Nic Bathgate, "Atomic smasher > fairy same dlo > fairy symp rev whirl": NICE unique creativity on those last two moves -- holy! I'm so impressed! I really hate the fairies -- they're very the, but the bothsidedness and the unusualness of the tricks is so rad!
3) Chris May, "Fairy same symp mirage > atom smasher": A really similar combo in my books, even though the tricks are so different, they kind of have a similar feel...like one triple dex, the atom smasher, and the symp...these two were really close for me. Nice form, Chris -- I always love watching your shred!
4) Jorden Moir, "Montage > marius > mind bender": The tricks are so huge, but I kind of got that Vasek feeling from the combo, like...rather than cool combo the focus seems to be on huge ass tricks that nobody else can even hit (similar to Honza's, which is why I had so much difficulty ranking all of these...)...marius and mind bender are so cool, but there's something about montage that screams "uncreative".
5) Jeremy Mirken, "Janiwalker > fog > toe blur": I loved this combo, but the moves feel too common for me, especially the toe blur to end it -- it's a cool move, and quantum is pretty funky, but just toe blur doesn't feel like a good way to end a sick 3. Janiwalker > fog is huge, but I feel you could have been more creative, like...high plains > wetdream > slap, or something...you know?





Anyway, holy crap that took so long. Thank god we don't have to rank every one -- this took me like over half an hour!!!!

Genuine fearless? Don't get me wrong. A 15 contact string which is made up of 14 five add tricks is incredible. Only a handful of people can do that. But 8 of the 14 tricks were pdx whirl based 5s. How many of those links or moves would you give props to if you saw it/them alone? Not taking ANYTHING away from Jorden's string. I've seen Jorden do genuine fearless, hell I've seen genuine beastly... but let's not get carried away.

Erik, thank you for making the effort to give extensive feedback It is great to read what you thought about everyone's combos.

I am not sure if my fairys can be called 'the' though, I believe that it is a style, like leggy atomic set, I do my fairys leggy.
They are less clean in that the dex is further down my leg (ankle sometimes) but the dex is still there so I believe they are clean.

On leggy fairy sets: they are much easier to knock with your leg during the dex because the window is much smaller but they allow you to plant setting foot much faster, good for moves like fume and figbeater.

I completely agree... Move choice is such a subjective matter. I almost prefer your 'the' rants to you going on about paradox free fearless. Let people play how they want. Believe it or not, there are people who LIKE whirls and the paradox component and who think ridiculous fearless combos filled with blurry whirls and ps whirls are actually cool (myself included)...
