Plain, Train, or Bus?

For long travels in which you can't drive, which one is your favorite? Least favorite?

I like the train the best. It's pretty cheap and on land.

I like buses the least. Old people + bus = not cool.

I like the train. You can hang out and get drunk and walk around and meet people. Fun fun fun. Though, I think I'd prefer a car for a super long road trip.

No way, train whoops car's ass. I mean, if you have no choice, road trips okay, but then you gotta get stuck driving. And yeah, getting all shitty on the train and playin cards with the old men down in the club car rules.

i would LOVE a super long road trip with a bunch of friends in one of those huge economical/business dodge vans that can fit like 15 people
you have the most freedom in this situation

my least favorite would be the airplane. that fucking blows. i flew from chicago to LA to hawaii a couple years ago and it was hell. short plane rides are cool but once they get that long, its hard for some people to sleep (me)

i agree with matt, if there was a car option, id take that. you can always bring friends, and switch shifts. i don't mind driving on road trips at all. i actually kind of like it.

i've actually never been on a train. Well for a long trip, i think when i was a kid i was on a trolly thing that went from one town to the other. i've only been on a plane once. and i don't enjoy busses very much haha. I think i'd go with a train.

Trains if I'm just by myself or with one other person. Something classic about it.

Cars/roadtrips if three or more people.

You've clearly never taken a long bus trip...you think sleeping on plane is rough??? @____________@ You could probably fly around the world a couple times in the same time I've taken some bus trips; the bus sucks.

I used to like road trips, I used to like driving for them too. Until the road trip today... I was driving... we were 15 mins from home... so close... I got busted speeding and lost my license for 12 months. Wish we'd caught the train :\

Train. Definitely.

I can't sleep on any of them, including car. By bus I've been travelling from 12-24 km daily for about nine and a half years now. The long bus trips alone suck, but if there are enough people you like to spend time with and the others don't mind the possible noise made, it's a nice option too. The bumping and shaking isn't nice.

Flying was cool for the first 20 minutes and then it started to feel just boring. The view is pretty much the same all the time, especially if it's cloudy. Nice for a few minutes, after that no. And it pollutes heavily.

Train is IMO the best option - goes fast and smooth (depending on how new/old the equipment is) and the view changes. I guess train is the most environment friendly of these options.

Car may give freedom etc., but I'm trying to avoid it and using public transport instead if possible. At the moment it's really easy because I'm only 15 and you need to be 18 to get the driver's licence.

You can't even move that much in a car, so usually all the body parts are done after a long drive. It's nice if the whole car is packed with people - lots of fun etc - but it makes 'the being' even more unpleasent.

I have been on quite a few plane trips, but nothing longer than an hour. Hour plane trips are awesome, love it.

Trains are OK, they have their own appeal... spacious etc... I've always been alone on trains though so that's sort of boring

I've been on a couple of bus trips about 8 hours long. It actually wasn't htat bad because I was with heaps of mates, and on one I spent most of the trip sleeping on the floor, which was insanely comfortable, so that rocked.

Yeah, public transport is OK... if you live in a city. I don't live in a city. I live in the bush. The town center is 15 minutes drive away... at 100km an hour... No car = no freedom. I'm gonna feel like a real dick riding a freaking bicycle around all the time. I guess it's just another reason to move to Melbourne... so tempted... but also can't be bothered.
