Shawn Boyles challenges
I been in uber training mode and im looking for some challenges.
I have been training freestyle footbag hard for about a year now, and currently heres what im hitting, i guess im just looking for some new combos and new links to try out.
Pixie sets are my strenght
I can hit Smear, pixie leg over, pixie pickup, pixie osis, dimwalk, pixie clip, pixie pickup, Clip duck clip, clip dive clip, butterflys, paradox mirage, far legover, far pickup, osis, far osis, infinities, and whirls (From clip) Both sides
I can hit Pixie alpine clip, pixie ss mirage, megellan, dlo (from clip), Toe whirl, paradox whirl, DATW Strong Side Only (for now)
Things i struggle with (Tricks i try but have yet to come close to hitting them or get good with them by any means)
Stepping, Drifters, dlo (from toe), Symposium tricks, pheonix, spins.
I also have been sited hitting two adds out of ducking and diving, i dont do it often but have hit ducking butterfly, ducking leg over, ducking pickup, diving pickup, diving leg over stuff like that.
Give me some challenges so i can mix things up a little im starting to feel like i do the same shit every session.
Thanks in advanced i really like it when im challenged, it makes me think of kicking with the cic guys and getting challenged to race to a trick. Last race was me and tim w. racing to ducking pickup. good times

P.S. Hey jake if you wanna challenge me to a pixie leg over comp its your grave pal, maybe not but its really one of my favorite tricks to do consecutively It shoudl be an exciting competition. I think if i try hard i could work my way to 6-8 pixie legovers

1. Toe-set ducking mirage (finish on same toe)
Just a time killer, to think up something else to do from that toe.
2. Clip > Ducking Paradox Mirage
3. a. Diving Knee-pincher > op Osis (corny, I know)
b. Spinning Knee-pincher > op Osis (corny, part deux)
4. Symposium tips:
Symposium Mirage example-
Don't be flat-footed, stay on yer toes.
a. Set the bag high and to the side opposite of your set foot. Bring the set foot down to about the height of your support knee.
b. Ignore the bag( for now).
c. Center your weight on your support leg and crouch your back down a bit and bend your support knee, lowering your body only 2 or 3 inches. (this little bend is important).
d. Jump straight up, just high enough to have a controlled landing on that same support leg.
e. After a few practice jumps, do another, but try to get a few lateral inches toward the side where the bag "should" be.
Face forward the whole time, you want that lateral movement to feel like strafing (see Unreal tournament), with no body rotation.
Ignoring the bag right away keeps you from "chasing" the symposium.
Jump only as high as feels comfortable and controllable, you can always change your set later, to match your jump.
Also, try to do the "smallest symposium ever", with a set below the knee, and the lowest lateral jump possible without tying up your ankles. I hit one the other day that couldn't have been more than 4 inches off the ground.
Challenge the local shredders to the "smallest ever symp....", maybe you can glean the technique better than from my explanations.
Symposium Whirl example-
a. Don't set the bag from the clipper BEFORE the little bend/jump.
b. Doing the "knee bend/jump", should give the bag enough vertical "set" to clear the dex. The "set" foot might not have to move at all(beyond the few inches during the "bend").
c. This is different than the ones Davidson does, he does a monster jump a second or so after the set. It looks cooler, but is way harder.IMHO
p.s. Come to think of it, try the clip stall and the "bend/jump" without doing the whirl dex, just to see how high you can set it.

Yeah symposium tricks are a little harder for me cause im still a bit overweight (about 15-20lbs)
All you skinny kids dont find it to difficult to jump off of one leg, but when you weight 200 lbs thats alot of stress and weight to be putting on one leg. Im on a weight loss program so when im at a more average weight i definately want to start learning symp, but right now i figured if im gonna hurt myself playing this sport over doing the symposium is a sure way to do it.
But i love the ducking paradox mirage, thats tight i will give it a shot.
not sure about trying those pinchers

ok here are some more after seeing your game :
diving clipper > whirl > ducking clipper > whirl both sides
or if that is too hard just ducking clipper> whirl both sides
repeat if possible! but if I remember well your flip whirl is'nt strong yet
did you try symposium whirl yet? I defenetly think you can do this, I think of it has a uptime whirl with no dex, and set the bag with the support leg lift..
pixie legover > dimwalk > whirl
pixie pickup > parkwalk > whirl
hope this can get you some more ideas!

I like these and my flip side whirl is making progress (i hit it 50 percent of the time) the problem is my flip clip is still skill wise behind my strong side,acxel22 wrote:ok here are some more after seeing your game :

so i can get a good strong side set and duck or whirl but i always drop on my flip clipper
But i will try it im sure i can hit everything mentioned, except maybe parkwalk im not a fan of doing butterfly sameside but maybe thats a sign its time i start doing it.
Im gonna try symp whirl when im 100 percent confident with non symp whirl, Im concerned if i start trying that trick to early i can risk injury (knock on wood)
Right now im focused on schooling a few missing componets that are preventing me from guiltless/both sidedness tricks in question: Osis, ducking, spins, flip butterfly, and im starting to realize its time to start doing ALOT of clippers I thought i was past this but after seeing everyone else shred and seeing my self fuck up flip clip time and time again i must of been lying to myself to think it was time to stop practicing such a basic beginer trick.
i been dabling with symp mirage, any combo suggestions?
right now i been hitting it out of leg over, far leg over, PLO, and paradox mirage.
