Magic the Gathering
Magic the Gathering
I know there's a tonne of you closet magic dorks here on modified. Show yourselves. More than a few of you have already revealed yourselves to me.
I wanna combine my two favourite things. The thought of being able to shred or stitch and trade magic in one day would probably one of the best days ever!

I used to play a long, long time ago. Well from when I was like 9 to 12 or so, on and off. I was sort of into it and my dad was REALLY into it. We had thousands of cards. I started playing hacky towards the end of my MtG career, then stopped playing Magic altogether, and then, you know, got really good at hacky. My dad is still super into it, though. He's a certified high level judge and shit, it's crazy.

Despite being a newbie and not going to the Jam and stuff, I must say that if you are an utter MtG geek, you should have played this at some point in your MtG life: Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers aka Shandalar.
Yeah, I am really really cheap. Buying cards IRL is too much for me.

Yeah I was into the game when the cards were super over priced. Like the black lotus was worth 400 bucks or something. My last pack I bought I got a ballduvian hord, a 4/4 creature that only takes 4 mana to put down..pretty useful.. I was always into white and green more than black and red though. I had some killer decks, though they were pretty much just pro deck copies. I wish I knew where all my cards went???
I went to a turney once and did ok. R they still happening peng??

I've been playing Magic the gathering since it was pre-released at Dundercon 1993.
My dad bought 5 Starter Decks of Alpha Magic Cards and taught my family how to play. My mom didn't like it so my best friend got her magic deck.
The most I won was a box worth $250
I've won $1150 at a single footbag tournament.

Ah yes... M:TG.... good memories. Or not.
I absolutely loved the game, but unfortumately I only ever met two people who played who weren't a) insane nerds, or b) insane assholes, or even c) insanely both. I tried to stick with it but the culture just became too much and I quit... very glad of that decision, although I miss the game sooo much

I'm glad my housemates aren't dickwads and they play. I try to avoid the local nerd scene. They are very much like you described James. We also have two honourary housemates who keep their cards at our place because it's the only place they play magic, but don't actually live in the apartment.

Snap! That bag is so hot! I hate you for being able to play magic without wanting to murder everyone else in the room
The local nerd shop is still the only place of business I've ever been in where the employees abuse and make fun of the customers, hahaha... losers...
edit: i shit you not, one of the guys that worked there was the Comic Book Shop Guy from the Simpsons incarnate. He has an american accent, fat, has long hair, and is an absolute asshole. teehee.

The employees, actually making fools out of the customers. It's like just because half their job is to sit around playing magic all day long, they can just make fun of the customers however they want... downside of such a casual workplace. I think that dude got fired cause he kept going too far... not sure.
Oh... did you mean who are the losers? The EMPLOYEES for sure. It's a pity, the guy that actually owns the place is a legend
seriously Pengu that bag is hot hahaha. You make it yourself? I may have to order one sometime in the future... you know... once I get a job and get myself out of debt and actually have money

Yes, I made the bag.
The really funny thing is, the nerdshop where there are magic/warhammer players in Kingston is like a half block from me right now. After Christmas, they are moving in downstairs from my apartment.
Uh-oh... I can foresee more money being spent... as if 1/2 a block wasn't easy enough...
