*Socks*

I found the greatest two pairs of socks I've ever owned; I think they were Adidas climacool DSL liners or something. They really do breathe well and the second best thing about them is that they don't get 'rolled' when playing. Some hi-tech has been used for sure, it's tighter in the arch section - this is probably the reason why they don't get rolled.
Only bad thing is that they cost 17 euros, but I think it was still a good buy. My older ankle-length socks were a bit thick, and the normal socks just feel funny when shredding.

Tomorrow should be a longer session, today I played just for 30 minutes.

Ducking clip > diving clip > rpt, finally.
Also 12+ contacts of the Smear > Dimwalk > Pdx mirage > rpt -drill.

I had fun. :D

Today was probably the last good shoe session this year. Now at the moment I've got no chances to shred before the school starts again in January. The Navetta is too cold and all the sport halls are closed during the holidays. Maybe I'll still come up with something...

My Blurs have sucked pretty much and they still do, but I hit Blur > Dimwalk -link. I believe that Stargate is coming soon (or would be coming, I can't say when I can train it again).
...And then, out of nowhere, I hit Blender, third try ever! :D Too bad it was only this one I could seal - the others weren't even footed...:(

Last time I had to go to dinner before I finished the post.
All I wanted to add is that now Blender is one of those tricks I've hit but can't actually hit. :? On my list there are at the moment Drifter, Pdx Whirl and Torque - though these tricks I've hit both sides, and Blender not. (Like said, it was the one and only time when I hit it).

So it seems that my shredding has a little pause right now during the Christmas holidays. I wish Santa'll bring me a heated shredding place with air conditioning. :|
Anyways, school year 2005 is now over! :D

Oh yeah, almost forgot - I've hit Double-Over Down both sides! It goes more often than the tricks mentioned before but needs still skooling. :)

Yay, this is my 1000th post.

I just wanted to say that I'm going to keep on wasting my posts like I've done so far. ;)

Merry Christmas to all (err...both) who read my blog! :P

Santa (=I) brought me 4 juggling balls. :D
And some dvds.
And towels.
And books.
And plates.
And a digital camrecorder!!! :D :D :D
It's a mini-dv cam, Panasonic, about the same size as the Sony Handycam DCR-*serial number* s. It feels a bit more plastic than the Handycams, but I prefer the zoom (more steady, not that rash).
Anyways, it's more than perfect for my needs!

edit:
LET THE FILMING BEGIN! I have to wait till the school starts to have a shredding place though...

Haha, yesterday I finally touched the footbag with shoes on. But only for a couple of minutes, just before I went to take a shower.
I've done some barefoot goofying, but yesterday I wanted to keep the touch with osis too. *I try not to mention the fact that I shredded only wearing boxer briefs - which is a new word I've learned through modified. Thanks.*

Mostly just boring at the moment. My sister is watching Bambi for the 6th or 7th time after Christmas.
The temperature is still around -7°C. If it was +-0°C I'd go to the Navetta but no, oh no-no. :?
Blah.

Aagh, I was searching for juggling tricks etc. yesterday, and found a pretty good database that explained everything step-by-step.
Unfortunately the person who has designed those pages must be severely mentally ill - yellow text on black background. 8O
And that was where the fun only began.
Stupidly lazy as I am I tried to read the epileptic description straight from there without copy&pasting it to Word. The description just for one of the many juggling patterns there are was one page long, going right from the start (roughly things like "the definition of a juggling ball") to the finish.
After all the reading I discovered that I can do that pattern and had done it before. :D At least I learnt that it's called Mill's Mesh.
And some other names for patterns I can do: Cascade (the normal 3-balling), Reverse Cascade, Half Shower, a bit of Showers to both directions.
Juggling patterns and tricks definitely need something like the Job's notation. :)

Today I was running for a while. I'll start doing that again too, I found out that my knees need it.
I also thought that I'd go to the Navetta because it was only -2°C out there, but when I opened the door and walked through a short corridor in the Navetta I noticed to my horror that the floor was covered with 'renovation remnant'. :x Great.

Yay, I may have a shred today! :D
I've got to clean up my shred spot in the Navetta first though... :?
I also think that I could start to do some filming too, I'm not sure though.
If yes, prepare for seeing some skiing gloves and beanies (pipo?) sometime in the future :!:

Hmm, I think I'll ape Anz's idea and write a little summary of the year 2005 and some plans for 2006. ;) But not now, maybe later.

And only two weeks to my 16th birthday! :)
I made a wish for a new pair of Lavers... I don't need them at the moment, the old pair is just fine but I'm pretty sure that when I then need a new pair somewhere at summer, I've got other things that'll take a lot of money.
(Like the Worlds in Germany and possibly right after that 6 months there as an exchange student.)
Anyways, an extra pair of Lavers can't be a bad thing, can it? :)

Happy new year to both of my blog readers!

...me too. I have to read my blog a little bit to see what I've actually done this year. :?

Thanks, though you're a bit early...:)

But back to the subject: I had this little session today. It wasn't that cold there, I didn't need the beanie nor the gloves. Longjohns are for weak (off the topic: the slang word for longjohns here is "tykit", i.e. "guns"). 8)
I filmed a little bit too, yay!
Because I haven't downloaded any editing software yet and I'm not sure if I've got to buy a FireWire card and cable, I'm not sure when I'll get something edited. I think I'll ape another Anssi's idea and make a blogvideo or something in the future. :)
Well, I'll spoil a bit now.
I hit (and caught on tape) my second 4-4-4(!!!): Blur > Dimwalk > Ripwalk. This is the first 4-4-4 I've hit both sides I guess. :)
I also hit some challenges.

If it's not too cold tomorrow, I may go to shred some more.

I know, I was just joking. :)

Okay.
Here comes the summary.

***2005***

I've got to say that it was a good year.
I got my first pair of Lavers, my first good 32s, shredded in a circle for the first time, saw my first Worlds and Finnish nationals, etc...

Actually I counted that I've kicked about a dozen times with other footbag players this year, which has been hell of a good thing for my game.
If the years 2003-04 were the years when I started playing footbag, the year 2005 was when I started shredding.
Sometimes it's been a bit difficult to figure all the things out on my own - problems with technique cause I've understood it wrong, then I've discovered how it should go and after that finally noticed that the both first techniques were wrong, and I should do it completely differently (illusions & atomic).
I thought I hit PS mirage when I hit paradox mirage without planting (I've hit the real PS mirage after that too though). :)
In April I was really confident that I was close to Phoenix and Torque. Phoenix maybe, cause I had been training Pixie ducking, but my torquing wasn't as good as I thought.
Anyways I hit them both at the change of summer and fall.

When I started footbag, I set some goals without actually realizing it myself. I decided unconciously that I'd have to hit Ripwalk, Torque and Whirl sometime. I hit them all last year (though I've still got problems with Torque). :)

Somewhere about a year ago I also set a goal that I'd go guiltless the same year. That didn't happen then, but I'm sure that it'll happen now. I can go guiltless for a bit but I'll now concentrate on hitting more guiltless/tripless/fearless tricks, better links and longer runs.
In 2005 I also hit my first 4-4-4 and I'm really happy that I've stayed quite both sided. :D

In December I competed for the first time, in the Finnish Footbag Open in Kuopio. I won the Intermediate, though it’s pretty embarrasing ‘cause there were only two people competiting in Intermediate.
Still, it’s a nice merit I can add to my curriculum vitae. :P

Footbag has introduced me to filming (that was the original reason why I took those filming and editing courses), juggling and cool and nice people from Finland, from Europe and from elsewhere. :)
I think that I wouldn't also want to take a website-course if I didn't play footbag. I also appreciate other forms of sports more because I've realized that doing sports manysidedly is healthy and good for my body – which helps .

It hasn't been all that good all the time. :)
I've had problems with getting a shred place for winter (and I still have), learning tricks alone, spraining my ankle twice (first time I wasn’t even shredding), hurting back, funny knees etc., but with the support of ice gel I’ve made it.

Finally, I’d like to thank you all who have been helping me – by challenging me, giving useful tips, making free videos to everyone to watch and learn from them, accommodating me (thanks, Anssi (edit:) - and Antti, my godfather) and so on. My parents don’t read this blog, but I’d like to thank them too, because – despite they most likely don’t understand what footbag really is all about – they still have helped me out in many occasions.

Yeah, thanks everybody, and a shredalicious year 2006! ;)

Lauri going guiltless... :)

Today's session

THE GOOD: I hit some nice guiltless combos, mostly challenge drills. The Navetta has a nice concrete floor, it has a really good grip though it wrecks the shoes more. Anyways, in school sport halls the floors are feel like they were waxed (which they definitely aren't!).
I hit (you can read the same in my challenge blog):
Ripwalk > pdx mirage > Parkwalk > rpt
Ripwalk > crispy DLO > Dimwalk > rpt
ss butterfly > whirl > pdx mirage > Dimwalk > rpt

And then I hit 9 Ducking clippers, which I can't believe! My previous record was 4, and I've totally sucked at ducking. I was so surprised and glad that I wasn't even sad because I didn't catch the 10th (until now...). :D
Maybe something else too but not really worth to mention. I footed Drifter pretty well, if you can say that a footed trick can be footed well.

THE BAD: I filmed first but then the battery needed charging, so all I got on tape is some crappy kicking... :?

...AND THE UGLY: My attempts on Legbeater. :P Close, but damn ugly.
