how much do they cost
where to get them

I know planetfootbag has them but I dont see them on the site, and how about the price, is it ridiculously expensive, or affordable?

When I was looking around they fell into the "ridiculously expensive" category. Here's a "cheap" used wrestling mat I found...a steal at $410.

Here are some smaller mats, for a bit cheaper. Still don't know if it's worth it to you..it wasn't to me.

i don't know the prices for shred mats, but this must be a joke!

i think, you won't have to buy more than $50! (and this isn't cheap too)

i know the ones planetfootbag bought for the footjam etc. were about 1000 euros (1200 $), however there are much cheapers (but smaller and thinner) ones from poland for around 200 euros, contact the polish footbag assoc. for those, pf doesnt sell them i believe.

I thought I saw those interlaced squares (like a puzzle) mats at Walmart for around 6 bucks a roll. You might need two rolls for a larger area.

They might be crap, tho.

But there are other brands of mats that lock together in pieces. I don't think they would cost an arm and a leg.

Yes, but us tall, old folks would like to know if we could preserve our knees by shredding on them. I would love to shred more often but I'm totally limited by knees.

Seriously, I would definitely shell out the moulla to have a surface I knew kwould preserve my knees. So any reviews towards this end would be really appreciated.

I'm sure that with a small amount of imagination you can find something suitable for a shred mat.

edit: in some of the Tuukka's Joulukalenteri training sessions they have a "mat for shredding", someone could pm him and ask what it is.

It's a piece of a whole room carpet that was on sale in a hardware store. It cost something like 30e. We bought it cause the floor is so slippery that it's annoying to play on.

Yeah I'm going to definitely have to find a "shred mat". The room where we host our footbag club has really really incredibly silppery floor and you get ZERO traction.

there's no such thing as a "shred mat".

planetfootbag had some professional gym flooring made to shred on for the footjam03 and footjam05. but that stuffs expensive (like paul said), especially considering switzerland is a very, very expensive country.

in the end its a question of quality, as usual.

we had sponsors for the footjam, so we could invest in quality;)

anyone intersted, the stuff is made by the company gerflor and called taraflex. what we paid 1000€ for in switzerland would cost not even half as much in poland, but i wouldn't know about other countries.

and if you're a bunch of guys and girls with a regular spot to kick you might want to invest a little something.

Haha, in the last Worlds I shredded on a "shred mat" and tripped over for the first time in a year or so.

Jochen Bauer can witness this (if he still remembers that).

... OR maybe I just suck.
