There are a few stores around me where you can buy mesh lavers for about $60.

I have seen them before, on more than one occasion, in Paragon Sports in Manhattan, New York City. Paragon Sports is a great sporting-goods store, and its about 4 stories tall, its got just about everything in there, and its not known to be a discount store (though I did once see a small women's-size pair of Laver's marked down on sale, but, ya know, too small for me, and not necessarily such a bargain, even on sale, that I felt compelled to buy them).
Paragon Sports is just a couple of blocks from where the New York Footbag Association meets to play ("NYFA: The Stupidest Club!"). I can't remember exactly if its on Broadway or on Fifth Avenue, but its just right around where Broadway and Fifth Ave. meet, one block north of Union Square.
If your friends are going to be in New York City, I suppose I could look up Paragon Sports' phone number for you, or get a more precise address (they probably have a web-site, too) and you can find out for yourselves if they have your size of Rod Laver in stock.
