Making Patterns

So, I'm trying to make my own pattern for a 32, but I don't really know what I'm doing. What is the aim of the pattern? Should the sides of the pentagon be the same length as the hexagons?

What do you guys think of this:

the hexagon should have 3 short and 3 long sides, with the shorter sides being approx. 1/3 the size of the laonger sides. The long sides of the hex should be just a tad longer than the sides of the pentagon.

why dont you just start with an existing template and modify it? just take the 3 sides of the hexagons and divide then by 3....*basically repeated what Senor Grommet said

all u need is a protractor and a ruler.. my template is 4 mm short side on the hex, 21 mm long side, and thepents are 14 mm each side

angles for the hex .. 60/120, angles for the pent.. 72/108
