music to admit to

Post by Sporatical_Distractions »

okay, this thread is all about admitting to liking music that most people hate. I'll start: female singers. a lot of people hate female singers. I'm all about fiona apple, alanis morissette, and bjork and i'm not afraid to admit it. How about you? what bands do you admit to listening to?

edit: changed thread name to lure more of you thrill seekers in

I was just telling my brother this the other night: everyone makes fun of Enya and Yanni for some reason, but they're actually really amazing and I love them both!

I love female singing bands so that I can sing along. Enya is awesome...very soothing. And I didn't know Happy Hardcore was hated, but they are cool too. Some of my friends play country so much that I have to admit I don't mind that anymore. I've really grown into liking just about anything lately.

Kim Deal is a good musician - I've never heard of Enya, what kind of music is that?

Enya = new age celtic stuff

Enya is awesome!

I would say the one artist I could admit shamefully to listening to is Madonna -- who is awesome (yes, all of her music... Lucky Star is probably my favorite track :) ).

im not at all ashamed of any of my music, but some people do dislike things like opera and show tunes, both of which im an avid fan of.

i also love ani di'franco (whom i gather not a whole lot of you have heard of) and tori amos, janis joplin, empower!!!

and to perpetuate the "stupid stoner hacky sacker" persona, Phish, the dead, pink floyd, led zeppelin, yes, the doors, the who, the guess who, and a whole slew of other music, im such a deviant!

Yeah, Yanni is awesome. I taught myself to play half of one of his songs on piano, never finished, oh well, it was fun.

I love, love LOVE dance music, and everyone hates it, but only because they don't understand it  little do they know but the 'dance music' they hate is pretty lame IMO. If only they could hear some real dance...

Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack.

I've been listenting to it alot lately. Some songs are pretty cool. Some just remind me of the fun I've had going to see the movie with friends. That, and the first song is a nice little pean to old sci-fi movies, of which I am enamoured.

I love Missy Higgins, who is an Australian artist. I find her stuff inspirational.

I like Sugababes - Push the button. I don't know why, I just find it really catchy, hahaha.

I also like some Hillary Duff stuff.

Wow josh, you've heard of Kim Deal? That's crazy. Lead singer for The Breeders in the 90s, but she also played with a couple other bands such as The Pixies and I believe Throwing Muses. If you like her, check out Tanya Donelly, or more specifically her music under her band Belly. LOVE Belly.
