What side do you use? The deeper colored side or the lighter smoother side?
Thanks

You use the smoother side... the side that doesn't feel rough. This side will change colour slightly when you rub your finger across it and the fibers go in a different direction, kind of like carpet.

The rough side will pill.

I just got some fabric, but to be honest..both sides feel pretty smooth to me. Also, if the side you're supposed to use (smooth) changes direction..wouldn't it feel rough (when going again the 'grain' of the fabric)? Seems contradictory..and no, I'm not trying to be a smart ass.

I'm thoroughly confused/frustrated. If I can't even tell which side of the suede I should be using, should I just give up? I mean, it has to be an indication of something.

Yeah, I thought that too at first davey, but Peng is right. The shinier side is best. If you use the other side, the material will 'pill' more and way faster, causing the bag to look bad and become grungy.

The side you use has the longer fibers on it. They fibers should also be all going in the same direction, kind of like suede. When you rub your finger across it, it should change colour slightly like carpet does when it goes against the grain.

The side you don't use, the fibers are shorter and less uniform. I really hope this helps. Don't give up man.

Playing with Fletcher's choice bag has made my desire to stitch increase exponentially. You'll never have my fabric!

Thanks guys..I think with the 2 colors I have, it's a little hard to tell which side has the longer fabric but, between that and the shiny-side tip, I'll can differentiate between the 2 sides now.
