am i the only one who feels that he only is jewish as a gimick to sell more records. and to have a "thing" to make him stand out?

It's possible. It does seem to be a little gimmicky, but in all honesty I don't think he's faking. I'll admit there is a possibility, and I don't doubt record companies abilities to make personas for artists, but I just don't think it is.

no, he doesnt use it as a gimmick at all...he is a genuine jew, and has believed in it heavily his whole life. I saw his interview on mtv, and it talks about his jewish upbringing and all this crap. he says that he just always liked reggae music and thought of it as a great way to express his ideas and beliefs from his jewish heritage. I just think he is very talented, and regardless of whether or not he is genuinely jewish doesnt make his music any better or worse.

according to the bio that was posted in this thread he wasnt at all jewish all his life.
but that doesnt matter.
whether he wants it to or not, his being a hacidic jew is a gimick.
that doesnt change whether his music is good or bad.
but it is his way of getting noticed.
most people would not have ever heard of him if it wasnt for his gimick.
Im not trying to knock him down, i was just pointing it out. even if you like his music you should be able to see that hes gimicky.
