Banging pans on New Years
Banging pans on New Years
Ok...when I lived in Pennslvania my family always went outside and banged our pots and pans and screamed (made noise) when the ball dropped. The neighbors also did. It seemed to die down each year, but it still happened. This year, in West Virginia, we went outside and screamed Happy New Year! Nobody else did. Nobody made noise when I lived in Georgia either. It seems like us Pennsylvanians are the only noisy idiots around for New Years. Is this true or have I just been in the wrong neighborhoods the last five years? Do you guys make noise in your area?

Yup, that was the big thing for New Years for a lot of years when I was young. I'd have all my good friends over for the night and come midnight, my mom would arm us with pots, pans, and spoons, and we'd have ourselves some good screaming. It's funny you mention this because I just recently for Christmas wrote up memories for my mom, and that was one of them
