I'm surprised this wasn't posted.

Worth a listen if you haven't heard it.

About screaming? I'm not sure. I haven't heard emo music yet. Just goth and a damned lot of metal. And with metal it's mainly growling...

But, yes, there are two sets of vocal chords. Or maybe more. I can make strange high-pitched sounds, in addition to strange Gollum hissing sounds, in addition to normal speech which all use different strings.

So I guess you just have to try when warmed up and use various vocal chords/muscles and find the right ones.

i think that emo is not my type of music i prefer metal and hardcore the screaming there is really awesome like trivium and all that remain they are awesome as for screaming it a talent that come from your belly and thats all i can say, im a guitarist in a hardcore band so i kinda know how but not near as much as the vocalists in my band

On the whole emo argument I must side with the don't make fun of it group. And now relating to the topic of this post does anyone know how that one guy in blood brothers sings/screams so high on there new album (not burn piano island) it's like creepy. I saw them in concert last year and it was super weird live. Is that the same type of thing?

alright dude, im actually in a screamo/hardocore/metal band, and right now im lead vocals. screaming is a talent that takes ALOT of training with your voice.for the first little while your voice and throat will be sore and your breathe will be short while trying to scream. and you just dont scream. its gotta be on key and its gotta come from the gut and not from the vocal cords.

check out my band at http://www.myspace.com/covband

use it as a reference, if you need any help trying to get that "special" sound, then pm me man :D
Your next task: Go to the bathroom.
Wash your face.
Put your shoulders hunched upwards.
Look really, really slowly upwards towards the mirror like in the movies
And slap yourself in the face.
With your game face on.
And go shred with jim.
It'll work, trust me.

I used to listen to emo in high school (late 90s). You know how those kids parents were suing the heavy metal bands for their kids who were blowing their brains out with guns? Can I sue Sunny Day Real Estate for turning me into a wussy in the late 90s? That would be nice. Ben in court...

Emo, it will fuck you up and make you hate life. Much happier without it.

Bane4 wrote:ok i love emo and scremo but I have no idea how they are able to scream like that, is it just an abnormal amount of musical talent. Second, if any suggestions are given about how to do it, I have received offers to be a screamer in a band and I need to know if there is any way to do it without killing ur voice, peace
warm up, and dont just strain your voice, actually try screaming it works... i learned the hard way, i scream and growl for a metal band
