In my blog I try to play around with html but it seems that html does not work in this forum - why ?

Is it my fault ? check my blog to see what I have done wrong?

It's likely the HTML you can use here is stripped down to hyperlinks and simple text formatting. You should talk to one of the administrators about the HTML priveledges on this message board for a clear cut picture of what you can and cannot do.
