I concur, Wim was off the hook last Friday. Very close to rubberman, bubba beaters off his foot, super long runs with incredible both sided variety (double atw > paradon bsos I think, barrages, pixies, fairys, atomics, ducks, double atws all over the place). Was good shredding with you, can't wait for next shred

Instead of a Friday session in Brussels I had a 2h solo kick. I gave up the sandbag and kicked with a lead bag again, which I found refreshing.
First I kicked in the garage, and after 30 minutes I moved outside as the terrace was pretty much dry by then. What both places had in common, however, was that they were TOO SMALL for a decent session. To my surprise it didn't upset me too much; normally I get frustrated really easily when I feel that I could shred better if I had more space.
Thus a nice feeling overall!
Here are some highlights:
-double legover BSOS
-spinning clipper BSOS
-consecutive osi: 16 (dunno if this is my all time best, have to check)
-blurry whirl BS
-paradox whirl BSOS + b2b (a challenge I had set for myself. Long time since I last hit anything from my challenge thread!)
New tricks! (I hadn't hit ANY new tricks in ages, so I was pretty stoked to feel that 'new trick' sensation again)
-ducking legover BS - I could probably have done this a century ago, but for some reason never thought of trying.
-paradox drifterrrr!!! I hit it once strongside but couldn't seal it with a handcatch as the bag slipped between my fingers...
I finally figured the trick out though; it doesn't differ much from regular drifter. In fact, it helped to think of regular downtime drifter first, and then just drop the bag to the other clipper.
Other things that got me there:
*set high, just under nipple height. Unless you have low nipples, then you should set the bag nipple high.
*HOP (I used to think I hopped, but didn't)
*keep it pretty hippy!
My personal job's notation would go something like this: 1/ Set, 2/ bring leg across + hop + twist body towards the bag just a little simultaneously, 3/ Look down on the bag, and ideally it should pass through the little hole under your knee, that is twisted inwards, and 4/ don't forget to drifter and catch.
There, easy as pie.
Anyway, these unexpected drifter revelations made me try anything drifter (pixie, blurry,...) and I got close to a few of them. I should be easy on that paradox stuff though, because I was soo enthusiastic that my paradox muscle hurts BS.
I also burped "I'm a wanderer" today. It's always a delight to burp sentences, although this sample wasn't near my 7-syllable record I set a few weeks ago. Today's burp was "just" a fearless

Hey Daryl, good to have a shredita in this blog (WTF is that on your avatar
)
You nailed pdx drifter too? Maan, reading about your progress is impressive, and I haven't even seen you
since DM anyway. Unless my eyes were cheated by some spell, you were just about solidly tiltless back then, and had some fours (atomics) under your belt, right? What have you been drinking these last four months?
No chance on Berlin. My next trip to Germanyland will be for the Aachen Indoor Open in March. What's the odds I'll see ya there up north, Bavarier?
I went for a pretty long run yesterday night and in spite of my sooperdooper €100+ running shoes I have a blister that has kept me from playing today. Mmmnarh!

I went to Germany for my first time ever last w.e. Berlin to be precise. Man that city ROCKS. I found out, quite to my delight, that the stories I'd been hearing about Berlin clubs have been true! So yeah i'm all up for heading back to Germany asap. When and where is Achen?

Berlin ROCKS indeed!
Aachen is... uhhh in Aachen.
It's just across the border on the Treiländerpunkt (uhhh - three country point). Last year we (Sean, Seb, Alexis, Dimi, Kevin) went there by thalys which took us about 2 hours. It might be cheaper to go there by bus, but probably less comfortable and slower.
I've checked .org but the event isn't on the upcoming list yet. Last year it was organised from March 4-5 roughly, Saturday and Sunday. The tournament is/was mainly net-oriented in previous years, but last year enough shredders gathered for a freestyle competition. And now that Justin (the main organisor) is a little more into freestyle, who knows what might happen...
Anyway, I've heard he is working hard on getting some really cool locations, accommodations for freestyle etc. Last year accommodations were thumbs up I must say, so yeah I'm in for the 2006 edition!

well my last news on AIO, were that they won´t happen. all that, cause some punks puked in the gym, so the people, that rented the gym, now wanna have some money (lets talk about some thousands...) to get the gym for yaself!
i wrote a mail to justin, to get some more information, if it will happen or not, but he didn´t answer.
if AIO will be in 2006, ik ben daar!

I guess Justin is in Kuba right now- I am sure he will be enlighten us very soon . It is easier to find a place for a freestyle challenge than for a net tourney - otherwise aachen team got mostly net players in the club .
Na we will see

True, Jochen. I Hope everything works out fine.
I've been doing some stitching and I really dig it!
Here's a pic of my creation:

Here's to give you an idea of its size:

And even though I fucked up the blind stitch

I'm really stoked about the bag!
Technical details:
It's small (7mm seams) and heavy(over 50 grams), just the way I like it.
Pentagons: brown
Heptagons: brown
Thread: brown
(I'm never doing that again; choosing a tiny 32-panel pattern for my first footbag was challenging enough as it was)
Fucked up the blind stitch a little. Final pentagon is more like a square.
Filling: tiny steel balls normally used in bike wheels (don't know exact term in English).
Tissue: synthetic suede or so.
Hell! It feels like all this technical crap is just INADEQUATE; there's nothing like FEELING this bag! It's so soft and sweet... hmm.
I can't wait to test it. Because of its weight and size, I think shredding with it should be incredibly beneficial to the precision of my stalls.
I haven't kicked much lately as I've been either busy overeating for Christmas, renovating the house, stitching, waiting for the sun to come out, or the freeze to melt away... Today afternoon qualified but for some reason I wasn't on top of my game at all. The bright side, however, is that this doesn't get me annoyed like it used to. It seems I'm putting things into perspective, which is a very healthy approach.
OK, it's 1AM, I'm popping off to bed!

Props for your first bag - it is well done!
It seems that you got a good size for you. I woudl prefer them a little bit bigger but maybe it will grow with the time.
I can assure you that you will get a very different feeling when you shred with your own bags. You will be able to find the best bag for you and that is what really matters.
I can show you the blind stitch - but cannot explain it due to my lack of visualizing skills in my language.
The only thing is you are on the right way !
It is sad to hear that you are not able to shred much these days.

Thanks, Jochen. Compliments from a pro stitcher feel twice as nice.
That's exactly what I was thinking; it better be too small than too big right from the beginning of its life.but maybe it will grow with the time.
Exactly! That's one of my main goals in stitching. I have shredded with quite a few bags I found to my taste, but I still feel like exploring.I can assure you that you will get a very different feeling when you shred with your own bags. Deal! I'd love to see "The Blind One" done in real life!I can show you the blind stitch - but cannot explain it due to my lack of visualizing skills in my language.
Call it a little New Year's resolution but I've gotten so upset lately about not progressing in footbag that I've decided to shred every day from now on and - if possible - to have TWO sessions a day (of which one BOP session).
SO... today I kicked twice!
Kick 1
The intention was to have a BOP session, but I got a little enthusiastic because the sun was out and I was doing well. In fact I think it was my first satisfying and high-level session in weeks!
Here are some highlights:
-paradox drifter sealed BS
-longish runs
-NEW TRICK! fudge BS
-NEW TRICK! quantum legover BS
I hit both during a new toe to toe trick hunt. They may not be spectacular, but new nevertheless
Kick 2
For my second kick I moved to the public park just before sunset. In spite of the park being public, there wasn't a soul out there exept me, which was good because I didn't feel like talking nor showcasing.
Shreeed!
Highlights:
-consistent spins, ducks, and sets.
-7 consecutive ripwalks (record 10 or 11). I dropped the eighth butterfly even though I felt like I could have gone on forever.
-I cooled down with infinities, tried for a record and did 110 infinities first try
(previous record a mere 45
).
Wow! I had a pretty productive day.
I also did a little cleaning in my room and to my surprise I found some weed in a drawer! It must have been there for about five years because I haven't smoked for exactly that time
. For those of you who have a keen interest in chemistry: herb stays green, even after five years
. However, I am wondering if it is wise to smoke it. Any of you have experience with that? I could sell the stuff off to my sister before she notices it's rubbish
.

Yo Wim, supre props on those 110 infinities! that's damn good endurance! Hey we're having a little kick tomorrow at the ULB at the usual time (8pm, maybe a tad earlier). Come along.
err, yeah just bring it along with you I'm sure we'll find a footbagger with a "keen interest in chemistry" as you put it.herb stays green, even after five years Shocked . However, I am wondering if it is wise to smoke it.

Nah. I got your messages too late. Mea maxima maxima culpa.
My mobile has been acting super strange. Whenever I try to listen to voice mail, it automatically shuts down a little into the first message. At one point, I was 11 messages behind
! + for some reason I didn't check my e-mail.
Anyway, I hope my phone will stay with the living some more because I don't feel like spendi di moni at the moment.
But I'm definitely in for a kick next week! When do you guys play?
Wannakickiwannakickiwannakicki
!!!
Hell yeah, I'm still having outside sessions. Largely due to lack of inside space. Besides, I normally kick better when I'm playing outside. Something in the air I think.
Session Jan5
Okay session, although not on top of my game. I didn't insist and cooled down with one goal: to break my old consecutive osis record (18). I did 21 third try or so, which I was satisfied with.
Session Jan6
I had gotten a bit enthusiastic when running 5/1 at night so I was sore the day after. No big session either.
Hm, my game really isn't as bad as it sounds. I kick daily, which I think will turn to my advantage in due time. Even though my shred level isn't exceptional for the time being, I'm not getting frustrated over footbag any more. I just refuse to do so
Oooh, my gf is on msn. Gotta go
