Didn't flipsider mass-rename a bunch of established fairy tricks already hit by many people a couple years back? Really bad names too like Glaucoma (fairy same dlo), Casket (fairy same drifter) and Orangutan (Fairy Egg) that didn't have anything to do with the move. Orangutan was the worst because it was already officially named Flic by Yacine i think. Am I just remembering this wrong, cause otherwise it's just too funnyFlipsider wrote:You are missing the point. Renaming moves after years of existence is lame. I'm not pointing the finger at anyone in particular, just commenting on the trend.
no, you're remembering wrong. I've never heard of any of those names.
Edit: that's not to say I haven't renamed plenty of moves/elements in the past, or done so on behalf of others through the guise of Flipsider. I recognize the hypocrisy. I just know better now, and would like to see it stop. It's out of my control, of course, so do your worst. I probably will never (or rarely) notice, and surely won't care. Later.

continuing the ridiculous off-topic trend of this discussion, its ridiculous to be uncomfortable with the evolving nature of footbag, seeing as the nature of the sport exists today based on splitting from a completely different style. i have been hearing a lot of the history of the sport lately, and i am neither a veteran of the sport or an expert in it's history, but from what i hear a lot of the even MORE old school players (the ones who were doing 90% body adds, flyers, and sole kicks) hated the beginning of the freestyle trend towards what the sport is today. i believe its a sport that hasnt completely settled itself yet, and whether that is the changing of how the sport is played or just a constant evolution in the terminology we use, its ridiculous to consider change detrimental and alien to this sport...its how we got where we are today. some people never will accept the changes, and make a decision to uphold the previous standards of play (people like steve blough), and thats just fine as long as the general majority of the sport appreciates the direction in which footbag is moving.
that being said, i also dislike the excessive and often unnecessary naming of previously labeled moves.
edit-
i hope the next few posts are more on topic than mine...i would LOVE to post a fearless string, but cant quite yet
