First I thought that these are about some "scores during act", lol

But I guess they aren't...

I still don't know what they are so I'm just going to presume that you get some points for bed action.

GG!! 8)

You only do them for colleges... Most colleges these days could care less about the SAT, but you really should take both, just in case.

so acts are for college and sats are university? how do you define college and university in the states?

I looked on google and it said the sats were more popular on the coasts while the act was more popular in middle america. It also said the bigger universities prefered sat scores. Think this is the case?

As far as I know, college and university are synonymous. The only distinction commonly made is between state schools and private schools.

That may be the case, all I know is what I've heard from my counselor about ACT scores being the only necessity these days. However, you're usually applying to many schools at once, who all are going to have different requirements, so it's best to take--and do well on--both, just so you don't find yourself in shit later on. I know I'm going to.

First, there is a distinction between colleges and universities. Colleges only have undergraduate degree programs, whereas universities have graduate programs. However, most people don't know the difference so in common speech they're used interchangeably.

As far as the SAT and ACT, the SAT has historically been the preferred test for the top-tier schools, but a lot of them are now accepting the ACT as well. It is true that in the midwest the ACT is more common, especially for state schools; most of my friends didn't even take the SAT. On the other hand, most of the schools on the coasts prefer the SAT.

I know most of this because my mom is a high school guidance counselor and I spent some time researching the tests in preparation for them.
