Good to see that you've been shredding as usual and that you're still better than me. Keep it up and I hope to see you in Seattle or some other comparable tournament. I've been drilling my big-3s for the intermediate competition. Sofar my best is torque-dyno-Pdx. Blender. We'll see how far that'll get me. And what's this I read about a 7 add?!? How in the Hell?

Long time no post.

Played with Richy for the first time in a month and a half, hit a few things:

Ripped warrior BSOS with spinning blender in it
Whirr > Blurry Whirl > PS Whirl
A couple long runs with 4 or 5 fives.
Nuclear inspinning torque off of my foot
Spikehammer > Tripwalk > Ripped Warrior > Blur
A strong run starting with pheonix > ripped warrior and ending with stepping ss whirl > ripwalk > blurry whirl > spinning whirl

Oh.. Finally ...

I thought: where is Aaron? Why he isn't writing in his footblog. And I was worried that you stoped playing footbag at all, because of the army, or something.

Glad to see new post from you, and super nice to hear that you're still shreding.

Nice stuff!

Keep kickin'

Well I usually don't write in here anymore. The reason... I don't think anyone will read it and I don't really have the time or energy for the internet, I have to go out of my way just to check email. So, to make up for my lack and my future lack of writing, I will post a small write up of my life and the events that took place this last few months.

I've been training like mad since October really. I've done desert training, urban combat training, vehicle searches, I graduated squad leaders course, went on three ship ops, done over twenty raids, and picked up three new marines to lead on the way. I try to train them as best I can but I always feel like I can be doing something more to prepare them for whats to come.... my second deployment next month.

This holiday season was.... in one word; dissipointing. I went home for my first leave block since last February to Oregon to only find boredom and expectations unfulfilled. I expected to hook up with some old girlfriends, play a massive amount of footbag, and party without worry. Each and every ended up being a nautious and difficult situation when they came my way. Every girl was either out of town or hooked up with a new boyfriend, every footbagger in Eugene was either gone or injured, and every friend and party either fell through or ended up being a torrent of self responsibility. In fact, my new years night, in which I bought fifty dollars worth of alcohol, planned for, and dressed up prior to, fell through like no other. Too many people showed up, too many people wanted to fight and not get out of the damn house when I told them to, and my alcohol consumption had to be given to friends because I was too busy making sure shit didn't get out of hand. In addition, by two in the morning, the cops had showed up, given my siblings a $1000 fine, and the girl I liked was behind a locked door with someone else.

I don't want to go in depth too much about that though, it only gets worse, and that was only one night of self pity. I dare not bring up the more miserable stories, for it would only allow me to become depressed. I'm on my way back to Iraq soon like I said, and that's the last feeling I need to lead U.S. Marines with.

Anyway, I want to go on about some happier information, like the moves and combos I have begun to hit more regularly and surprisingly. Some are huge, others are innovative, and some are just great drills. Here it goes:

Gyro Gravedigger
Gyro Blurry Whirling X-Body Rake
Stepping SS Symple Reverse Swirl
Blurry Whirl > Spinning Whirl > Repeat
Blurry Whirl X4
Fog > Pheonix > Blurry Whirl
Bigwalk > Spike hammer > Smoke
Bigwalk > Whirr > Void
Bigwalk > Spinning Blender
Double Blender > Blur
Whirr X3
Whirr BSOS
Bigwalk > Double Blender
Reverse Swirl > Spinning Whirl > Mobius
Mobius > Blur
Vortex > Mobius
Symp. Blazing op Butterfly > Whirr
Food Processor BSOS
Leaning Osis

I can't think of any more off the top of my head right now, plus I am pushed for time. I need to do my laundry for the weekend, prep for a gear inspection, and clean my room for tomarrow. Hopefully Richy and Jay won't mind me staying over this weekend for one of my last ones in this country for a long time. Hopefully with luck it will be alot better then the thirteen days I spent dissipointed at home. Perhaps it's my fault, only I can choose what actions I take to have fun, and how to make up for poor situations. Well, enough about me, I'm out and I apologize for the extended absense. Until next time, peace.

Aaron,

You've gotten fucking amazing. I had a blast shredding with you last year, and I can only imagine how you've progressed.
Best of luck in Iraq; try to stay out of trouble.

Hope to play with you again someday--maybe when I can hold my own against your outrageous skills. ;)

Peace,

Apparently you have forgotten about the fun night you spent here in Santa Cruz, wherein we had two different footbag sessions and some awesome mexican food- sizzling fajitas, no? That was a blast and it was so great to see you again. Keep those spirits high. We miss you here.

All my luck to you Aaron. I don't know many marines, but out of all that I have met, you are the best. By that, I mean that you are a good person, you have a sense of humour and ... I dunno, there's something that I'm having trouble putting my finger on. Anyway, of all the people to lead the Marines with, to protect my way of life, as much as sometimes I feel I disagree with what goes on. I hope in my heart that things happen for good reasons, and I KNOW for a fact that you are a good person, and the right person to do one of the hardest jobs there is. I know things sorta ended on a bad note with us. But, I want to say that I consider you a good friend, and I appreciate the time we've spent together. Whatever thoughts and energy I can send to you to keep you safe on the roads you walk, I give freely to you Aaron. I hope that you accomplish your missions, return safely, and make a peaceful life for yourself here. A peace that you helped maintain. I hope you meet the girl of your dreams and have a family. I hope all your dreams come true. If not, I'll see you in heaven, dog. Love ya bro.

your friend,
sam

Thank you all for your kind words, and in reply to a few questions:

Emily - I will never forget going up to Santa Cruz, I should have posted all about the great time I had kicking, hanging out, and eating that great food. However, more has been on my mind just recently and I also thought it was well put in all of Jeremy and your own blogs. I apologize.

Sam - I'm glad I met you this last summer and had the opportunity to be a part of your movie. It's too bad that I probably won't be able to see it for some time. I hope you enjoyed the one footbag movie I made for you, it was completely a gratitude thing because of all the work you have put out for everyone else.

Everyone else - When I do come back some time late this year, I'll go wherever the footbag is like I did last time, I don't care if its a tournament in Europe, I'll be there.

Session with Richy produced:

Flipside Blurriest
Whirr BSOS in good string
Spinning Ducking Osis BSOS X2

Hey, thanks for waking up and giving me a ride to the airport.

I had at least 15 minutes to spare after I got through security.

I'm glad I got to kick with you again before you leave. Your game has improved so much since the last time we played.
