Anything you can hit, I can hit better . . .

Post by Senor Grommet »

This thread is not for me to boast about my awesome shred skills but rather to challenge some of us to hit new things and for others to hit those same moves but with extra components (a duck/dive, an extra dex, a symp/ symple dex, a gyro).

The way I conceptualize this thread is one player calling out another player to challenge. The one challenged has to hit any trick he/she pleases. Then, the player who did the calling must hit that trick, but improve it in some manner or another.

If the challenger CAN improve the trick, then he/she "wins" and the on who was challenged in the first place loses face. It is a battle.

I will make the first challenge:

CICflurry, I challenge you to hit a trick that I cannot improve in any way!
My name: Jeremy Mirken, AKA Chocolatey Shatner, AKA jerk enemy rim.

I kick it with trunk chef elf and liz luck key my.

This could hard if the tricks get too complex, it will need video evidence.

This is a great idea Jeremy!!!

Do you mind if I move this to competitions forum (since it is a form of online competition) and keep your head post updated with all the challenges put forth by everyone? (For ease of operation purposes)

I challenge Jesse Malouf to hit any trick that doesn't involve whirl, butterfly or double down, that you think I can not improve on in any way!

I think this is a great idea and hope it picks up! Maybe a way to make it a bit easier (and maybe funner?) is be starting off real simple and let the competitors build upon it between themselves.

Like, if Jeremy and I were competing, maybe we'd start off with a concept, maybe something with a Mirage.

He could hit Smear.
I would see his Smear and raise him a Backside Smear.
Maybe he would then hit Assassin.
I would hit Atom Smasher.
So on and so forth until either one of us can not increase the difficulty anymore.

I think it would be interesting to see the directions that players would take the competition on a 'beginning to end' scale sort of thing.

Ya know?

How do you know which trick is harder?
For example my brother can hit Atom smasher far more easily than Assassin or BS Smear.
But I can hit BS Smear or Assassin far more easily than Atom smasher.
I think that the improved trick should include the trick that was hit before.
For example:
Mirage
Smear
BS Smear
BS Assassin
Well, after that it would get pretty hard...

Or maybe the players should just agree about the hardness of tricks.

This is still a really cool idea, and I'm gonna challenge... Aleksi!
I hit a Rev. Whirl. ...Well, not yet because I just woke up, but I'll hit it during today's session.

yeh you would have to make sure the relevancy of each new trick was maintained.. like to go from Assassin to Atom Smasher isnt right i think. If its a pixie trick it should stay pixie, so you might go to Smog from Assassin or something

How difficult a trick is, is subjective.
Some people find assasin easier than smog.

Perhaps a concept should be chosen, for instance pixie, and the players have turns hitting a move involving that concept untill one of them can't hit a different move with it that hasn't been hit already, you would get some crazy moves, like pixie flapper, or pixie spinning heal stall, could get interesting :)

Chan made a thread like this a while back, where it was a competition where you had to add an add to the previous trick. Pinkus won the first one, then it died out.

There is absolutely no need for video verification. There are no world records being set, and these bouts are completely informal, just friendly competition between two members of modified, trying to show eachother up.

Video verification is unnecessary and taking someone's word for hitting a move will do in this thread.

CICfluffy, I mean flurry, Im still waiting for you to hit a trick . . . so I can crush it!

someone else saw this as a problem too!

And Nic, of course difficulty is subjective. Im just saying that to step from Assassin to Atom Smasher is just silly, the moves are totally different
