hahaha... five new moves eh? ok...that should be relatively easy considering i've got a few more weeks to shred before i come back and i've already got 4 new moves you haven't seen.

Session at the hermosa pier with big add chad and dave. played for 2 hours and 40 minutes. So much fun; I love it when people come by and go "Jesus Christ!" or "Holy shit!" when they see chad shredding. some people even complemented Dave and I.

five moves you havent seen...

i hit atomsmasher twice today (1)

i hit legbeater for the first time today (2)

i hit zulu pickup for the first time today (3)

i hit tapdown>pdx mirage (you've seen me do tapdown but... 4)

hit crispy eggbeater (5)

if you're not going to count tapdown, i guess ill have to hit something else new. any ideas?

couldnt hit double atw again today. That makes baby jesus cry.

hit ripwalk bsos.. (footed it flipside, but damnit, it ought to count.)

hit dlo, some decent runs, pdx illusions, worked on flipside stepping and atomic...still not pleased. also tried atomsmasher after six 2-add tricks but missed it. just trying to get the feel of switching midrun; it's a tough concept.

hit atw X14 out to in on flipside and X10 in to out on flipside (new records for flipside)

came close to ducking spinning toe

tried zulu clipper.. its tough!

new thoughts/concepts: want to hit pdx DLO, started trying butterfly>ripwalk so that i can hit ripwalk>ripwalk. attempted ducking toe torque.. hilarious. tried quantum, came kinda close on one set but it's a ways off.

very very very fun session.

12.21.05 sessssssion

Post by funklovesfootbag »

decent session.

hit a run of twenty contacts with mostly 2-adds, and a few 3's. longest string ever.

however, my legs are in constant pain. For a while i was doing ok tricks but struggling trying to hit stepping and atomic stuff and noticed that's what's making me hurt.. it's probably a combination of me not stretching enough, and working parts of my legs i havent used before..... and playing every damn day for hours.

hit a flip ripwalk, but that was the only 4.

i decided to stop trying stepping and atomic and did really well consistently with 2's and 3's, but eventually i'd try another 4 and .. I can't help myself but I really need to rest my legs. :( probably going to ice them also

also hit some decent ducking toes and zulu toe pickups and legovers.

played with dave, brett, mark, and 2 new players, my friends Sam and Ben that both went away to their respective colleges and picked the game up a few weeks ago; new players make me happy... it's nice to see their motivation and also how much I've progressed. Dave was going off with some fatty tiltless runs; cleaner illusions than myself. fun session even though i'm semi-crippled.

12.21.05 6 feet underground session

Post by funklovesfootbag »

had a session in the underground parking structure in manhattan beach with dave and brett tonight; about 2 hours long.

very good session. kicked lightly to warm up, stretched out a bit, and stretched after the session too. My legs feel better except my right achilles tendon area still feels fuct up.

hit drifter twice clean, footed it 3 other times. footed it flip.

hit sidewalk for the first time.. hit it on my flip stepping side first then strongside also.

hit ducking legover, zulu pickup, tried ducking clippers to no avail.

drilled butterfly>pdx legover>ss butterfly>pdx legover repeat and worked it into some combos.

had a few really good runs with 2's and 3's.

hit atw>atw>pixie>legover>pickup>atw>atw>pixie>ducking toe>ducking toe> drop on spinning toe

fun fun fun. legs are feeling better; footbag is fun again. :D

12.22.05 / 12.23.05

Post by funklovesfootbag »

uhh, i thought i posted last night but i guess i never submitted it.. bummer cus i dont remember most of what i hit. i know i hit blizzard for the first time though, both sides though thin on my flip, and some other good stuff and long runs. tried barrage for the first time.

today i had a session with chad and dave.

hit clipper>spinning clipper twice. (first time.)
also hit merkon, footed gyro mirage. couldnt hit it flip but came close; also footed clipper>spinning butterfly

some really good runs; hit butterfly>far legover>ss butterfly>far legover>ss butterfly>far pickup>ss butterfly>far pickup>ss butterfly>pdx mirage>ss butterfly pdx mirage and worked each of them into my runs with 2's.

didnt try any atomic or setting stuff today because of my leg pain.. but as a result im getting way more practice on my other stuff which is great. feeling very confident with working clippers and butterflys into my runs now.

hit some great alternating clippers, and started doing some new combos like clipper>ss clipper>ss butterfly>opp clipper>ss clipper>ss butterfly and variations of stuff like that.

hit drifter once, footed it at the end of a run.

tried blender, pdx drifter, pdx torque.. just a bit above my game! haha. blender is so sick though i can't wait until i can hit that.

happy holidays. I'll be in vancouver and seattle over christmas and new years so i might not be posting for a while. after christmas, however, i'll be getting a new camera so expect some sweet santa cruz footage.

session in victoria hotel

Post by funklovesfootbag »

played by myself today in our hotel in victoria..vancouver was a lot of fun.
havent been playing much, about one session every 2-3 days now.
played for like an hour tonight, i can definitely notice the junk food and beer affecting my gameplay (i had no stamina and my chest hurt haha..)

hit flipside atomsmasher and some good ducking clippers.

that's really all that's worth mentioning; i feel like i was playing too fast and way off my game but i had one or two ok runs.. at one point a little boy was running down the hall, stopped and asked me what i was doing. I told him it was called footbag, and he ran over really excited to tell his sister. I usually dont like kids but that kind of made me smile.

well... ill be playing more solo.. cant wait to get back to california and kick with friends again!

1.3.06

Post by funklovesfootbag »

had a session on new years eve solo in my uncle's office.. carpet. different. too cold and rainy to play outside, and another session the next night.

hit far osis for the first time and practiced it a bit but my osis suck hard still.

hit flip legbeater and some ripwalks

and started practicing clipper>dlo for the first time, which i hit tonight for the first time.

tonight's session i kicked with dave, chris, brett, and my girlfriend tani hit toe-to-toe (i had her order lavers today, the pink and green ones. I'm stoked on playing with her.)

mark was filming, i hit some stuff on film which i might put up later or wait until i have more footage, i dunno, mark has a sweet new camera and i wil l be getting a new one very soon.

i hit a few ok things today but one good thing, clipper>DLO for the first time (off camera of course, bummer.) and couldnt duplicate. get psyched out about the set. tired and hungry.

back to santa cruz tomorrow, sessions this weekend for sure.

laundry room session 1.6.06

Post by funklovesfootbag »

three hour session with jeremy and emily. played long and hard.

footed barrage!
hit a run of 18 contacts with lots of good stuff :D
hit two 4's in a run, i think it was atomsmasher and ripwalk but it might have been legbeater and ripwalk.
spinning clipper, uhh gyro toe pdx mirage? dunno what that one's called..

hit clipper>dlo
ripwalk,blur,atomsmasher,legbeater,tapdown
tried curve for the first time and made a few attempts at ducking PS mirage, i think im capable. it will be my first 5.

thats it i think.. lots of good stuff tonight, haven't played that hard in a long long time. still need serious work on my flip stepping set and flip atomic set but its getting better and also getting much better at throwing in infinities and 4-add tricks in my runs. hopefully going to be going to san francisco with jeremy amelia emily chad and pinkus. it will be sweet.
im going to get really good at this footbag thing.

hit some long runs, improved my pdx mirages a lot, improved my stepping form, practiced atomic stuff, hit drifter, tried pdx DLO tried pdx torque

hit clipper>butterfly>osis>clipper>something else.. far osis in there.

feel like there was more stuff i hit but can't remember anything specifically.
came close to spinning clipper>drifter

came close to barrage but failed yet again. some spinning and ducking stuff.. i dunno. long fun session. totally stoked about that ducking PS mirage, cant wait to get the footage from chad.

barages already?
can you try whirl?
since your symposium mirages seem great, once you get the hang of whirl, i'd say even symp whirl, once you get the motion you will be impressed how this move can be easy as a legover!
props on ducking PS mirage, thats a nice 5, I should try it one day, I can probably hit that without sweating :D
