Emily! It was awesome kicking and hanging out with you again! This year's jam was the best I've ever been to and I won't ever forget it! You've improved so much since last year's NYJ! Okay, so that's a total lie.

Thanks for saying hi to me, everyone. My blog feels homie. I'm not sure if that's how it is spelled. But I don't care much.

Here goes:

LA was fun! I got picked up at the airport and taken to me Motel room.... Chris met me and we went to do tourist stuff. We went to a museum, and I saw Mann's Chinese Theater and the Walk of Starts for the first time! How fun. I've been tired at 7:30pm since coming back to CA, I hope I can stay awake for my first SC session tonight. Anyway, the next morning Chris and I went to Plummer Park at 8:30a to meet with Mark (the director/editor of the promo vid, also my contact with the company), Ben(camera man), Ben (driver), Craig (model), and Bryon (model). Sam and Ashley were in Denver because United's computer system went down nation wide. So instead of arriving at like 11pm on the 3rd, they arrived at 12 noon on the 4th.

Before they got there, we filmed at Plummer Park, then Griffith Park, then I think we got drinks then went to pick Sam and Ashley up at LAX. We got lunch at Quizno's. I hadn't been hungry since a few days before I left for Chicago, and I don't know why. It sucked having no appetite since all of my food was paid for while I was in LA. Oh well. We did more filming and ended up at the beach which was very fun. We were taking turns playing in front of a wall and a man started yelling to me, "Go on girl, go on girl, go, go on, get down." And I had Kanye in my head for the rest of the day. At sundown we stopped for the day and the four footbag players went to Sam's mom's house to meet Chad. We played a few games of 4-sqare. Chad won the first game and the mystery bag and mystery $7. Then we went to the California Pizza Kitchen for dinner. (I know, Amelia. Don't start.

) I had never been there before. Goat cheese, yum! The waiter brought us a Sunday that I thought was free but they charged us $2!!! There was a lot of changing to our evening plans, so I'm not sure that I'm remembering the order of the evening correctly.

The next morning we met at Plummer Park at 8am, picked up Sam and Ashley, then we went downtown to film. We got kicked out of the first stop within about 5 minutes, I think, just like real public footbag is.

It was fun. We did a 20 sec. shot on the top of a parking garage. Then we found a nice spot that we filmed at for about 45 minutes. Circle stuff, individual shots, then 4-square. The camera man almost made me cry.

He was a kidder, he got me so bad.

They had us do real footbag moves, plus a little circle kicking and some face shots. Mark said it's about 3.5 hours of raw footage right now and that'll be cut down to 30 seconds. I don't have any idea what it'll look like. But the shoot was fun and that's all I'll think about for now.

I made some friends during the few days. One on the walk back from the beach to the van. Another was while we were driving and our eyes met while moving through traffic. Ahh Hollywood.

I don't think I gave a big thanks to MIKE and DAT for working on and FIXING my broken laptop. They are great. Thanks so much, guys.

I'm tired of typing but I'm sure there's stuff I'm forgetting.

Those couple of days were sooo much fun! filming, four square, shred, california pizza kitchen, driving around. It was all amazing. Im really really glad I went and got to finally meet you. Shredding with another girl is definitly sick. Besides the shred your a really cool person and i do feel like i made a new friend. I want to meet up with you and dave for some CSS! Im going to try my hardest to be there. I hope Sam will come too. Cant wait for the vid of you slapping sam!

And the picture! Hopefully the model still has it.

I sent Craig an e-mail asking him for the pics/vids. Bryon hasn't contacted me yet. I hope he doesn't forget.

Sat. night Chris Pinkus and Chad Devlahovich (That name is so easy to spell when you've heard it pronounces correctly. Thanks Jeremy.) drove up to Santa Cruz. Chris, Chad, Dat, Amelia, Jeremy and I kicked it at Jeremy and Amelia's and watched Freestyle Reality. We laughed a lot. Jeremy and I did some doctor work on some of Chad's bags which I found satisfying. On Sunday we had a beach bluff session in Aptos. Jeremy, Dat, and Amelia were our spectators. Jeremy has an ankle that was tweaked in the Friday session with Fletcher and me in the laundry room and Dat's hip has been bothering him for a while. Both will get better soon. I didn't have any good strings but thanks to Jeremy's suggestion I tried blender and blur to toe drifter for the first time. I don't know if I hit either, but they were fun to try. Toe drifter is pretty much easier for me than clipper set drifter. And it's more fun. Oh, I think Chris hit backside fairy, but maybe that was someone else. After the sun went down, we went to a Thai restaurant. MMMmmm Thai Iced Tea. Amelia couldn't make it but Dr. Ridiculous (Nate M.) came to hang out while we ate. It was nice to see him again. It's funny (meaning it kind of sucks) when you live in the same town as someone and haven't seen them in like 6 months. But he has been busy with some theme parties lately. Last night Chad, Chris and I were confined to my little room and listened to some Brad Nelson mix CD's (the metal CD went over well, of course). Chad and I played Mancala (I whooped him), Spit, and Card Sharks. He kicked my ass at Cowboys and Indians. Today I don't know what we're doing when. There will be a session at some point; maybe two for the guys.

I feel like the last three weeks have been non-stop footbag with great people ever since Nate L. and Aaron O. came to town. It's funny, too, because I had a two week break just before that. Two weeks off, three weeks very on. I am a very lucky person.

Very recently I lost a lot of weight and I'm looking to gain some back. I want to have a solo skooling session the day after Chad and Chris leave town which will probably be today. I need to do basic basic drills.

Dear witnessed self,

Yesterday Chris, Chad, Fletcher and I played on the UCSC campus. One person was interested in what we were doing but had to go, so we told him to find our club on .org. For most of the session, everyone was either tired or sore. I hit toe drifter bsos with no trouble. Chris suggested I try symp pixie>smear, but I couldn't hit it. Once I did a butterfly instead of mirage, and another time I did a plo instead of mirage. We watched Surf Ninjas and at spray cheese.

:D:D YEAH, it was that good. Then they drove back to LA at around 10:30pm.

Today I'm going to meet Dat at Stanford. He's going to hang out and I'm going to play with the crew.

But before Stanford, I think I'm going to the school that Dr. Ridiculous teaches at. He and some kids play hack in the courtyard during lunch and I'm going to see if any of them want to play with the club at some point. No high hopes, but it'll be fun. I like playing hack.

Yesterday Dat and I went to Stanford. He helped some people with some footbag stuff (I wasn't watching because I was playing). I played with Kevin, Steve, crazy Dustin, and some other people. I didn't catch their names and I feel kind of bad about that. One of them might come to SC to play with our crew here because his mom lives in town. He tried rev. whirling swirl for the first time since he does both individually pretty easily. Dustin is so good.

Some good guiltless strings, ripwalk>ripwalk x3 (he has done more than that before), worked on atomic, lots of other stuff, and he's always nice to kick with. Come visit us in Santa Cruz, Dustin. Steve tried paradox drifter. I hit the lowest ripwalk I think I've ever hit, toe drifter bsos, and nothing else. I like playing footbag. Lots of talk over the past few days about CSS7. I'm recruiting as many of my friends as possible. So fun.

Fletch and I skooled in him laundry room yesterday. I did 20 ss clippers on both sides. Tried: drifters from clippers (FAIL), illusions -damn you flip illusions!, pdx drifter, and whirls for the first time in way too long. I would like whirls if I could hit them, but I can't. I hate trying to relearn to do them so much at the time, I don't even know if I can make myself do it right now. But I remember hating pickups and Qphox said to "learn to love them" or something. I couldn't step yesterday. Not at all, BLAH. I did some osis and pdx mirage practice.

Session with Jeremy and Fletch at Jeremy's. I did a little symp. pixie/mirage work, a little toe drifter stuff, and like 15 seconds of whirl tries each side. I don't remember anything else. Oh, I did some illusions on both sides one turn.

I wrote these at different times and added to them when I remembered anything. So this is a bit choppy.

Friday night: Session outside at UCSC for maybe 45 min. Tried spinning clipper a few times. Hit an okay one strong side and footed it flip (out of a bunch of tries). Then Jeremy came and we went inside. I didn't play for very long.

Sunday afternoon: Fletch and I kicked at the ol' tennis courts. I hadn't kicked there in a long time.

-10 infinities
-14 contacts of mirage>legover rpt.

That was all I was satisfied with in a three (and a half?) hour session. It didn't help that I felt kind of ill at the start of the session. He and I both skooled pixie and fairy. He did his first real pixie sets and hit Dimwalk, obviously for the first time. Way to go! I sort of got the idea of fairies better.

Monday evening: Jeremy and Fletch at Jeremy's. I feel like I'm pretty consistent with the way I miss pdx drifter. I like the way it feels just to try it. I felt much better during this session than I have for the last bunch of them. Physically and emotionally, I was in a much better footbag place. I still couldn't step.

I came home and did a little fairy skooling which went fairly well.

Tuesday afternoon: I went to Stanford. Steve, Dustin, Kevin and Ben (who is recently back from visiting his home in Australia) were there. Them + Brian are who I think of when I think of the Stanford crew. Joe and another guy whose name I don't remember were there. The other guy played by himself outside of the main circle while he was there. He spent a long time trying to hit mirage and after a little advice he pretty much got it. There was a little 2-square but it was too dark to be much fun.

and nothing else that I can think of that's worth talking about. I still can't step well. That will be a theme in every post of mine in here until I can do it comfortably again. I feel like my game needs to get better, but I had so much fun playing.

I saw Tapeheads today and I'm sad I didn't ever go to Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles while in LA. Next time.

Body (back/legs) still feeling good. Footbag is fun.

Footbag is fun.

The mouse on this computer isn't working so everything is being done using only the keyboard. It's kind of fun seeing how much I can do without a mouse, but I will get sick of it in about 5 minutes. I remember using an Apple IIe which didn't have a mouse, with that green/dark green screen and the big floppy discs. I know people who don't remember life before the internet. Weird.

Last night Fletch and I went to SF to go bowling with Ahren, Tu, Olivia, and Phil. Ahren whomped me, it was terrible. I’m hoping to get plenty of opportunities to redeem myself.

Today Fletch, Ahren and I watched a good movie then went to Golden Gate Park to kick. Golden Gate Park SO has “Buffalo Paddock: Home to Golden Gate Park's small herd of American bison.” Ha. … I played really poorly. Sat. night my leg started feeling tingly, Sunday my legs were a little tight, and I wasn’t feeling footbaggy. So I stopped playing and lay in the grass under the warm sun. Wonderful. I found a soft stop on a tree trunk and rested my head. Ahren is a little rusty because he hasn’t played for a while, but you can tell with a few sessions he would be back to normal.

Edit: When I walked into Ahren and Tu's place on Sat. night and sat down, Ahren almost immediately noticed that I have my braces off. He is the 3rd person to notice that (or maybe just the 3rd person to say something?) since I got them off the day after Halloween. Both of the others are people I work with. No other friends or family.

Edit II: Oh yeah, Sunday night we watch Tricks of the Trade 2. So good!

I was really happy to see it.
