Update: I played with alex strassman and josh benham 2 weekends ago. Since I played alot, I overworked my groind and it hurt pretty bad. So I took 6 days off, and then played. After about an hour the pain came back. So i took three days off, played today, and after 20 minutes it came back. shit.
so now my groind really hurts and i cant play and that sucks and i dont know what to do cuz taking a week off didnt work, and then taking 3 more didnt work either. i guess the worst thing to do is play with it, so i stopped. ugh, and im so out of shape becuase of taking the break and all my strings blew and i couldnt hit anything. i really hope this shapes up before css.

jan. whatever day it is 2005
well, the groin feels a little bit better after 2 light sessions on it. so today i played a little harder. hit some ok strings, but from the 2 week hiatus my concepts are kinda rough. like it took me 5 tries to hit matador. whats up with that. just gotta play more and then get everything fresh. i should be able to do that by css. at least my shred 30 is getting solid.

it sucks when your forced to take breaks because of injuries. i had to take about a 2 week break last summer when i twisted my ankle. I became soooo rusty. If you pay hard afterwards though, you warm up quick after a good session or two. good luck man. I wanna see some more videos of you

oi dave,
glad to hear you're still playing. some quick advice:
LISTEN TO YOUR BODY! if your body says "doing this hurts" don't do it! i am still sitting on my ass (four and a half months and counting) because i wanted to get ready for the next competition and pushed too hard. Groin injuries are very sensitive. even when you think you aren't using groin muscles, you are. when you walk, stand, balance, run, climb stairs, crouch down, etc. a small action can set it off and put you back on the couch for another couple weeks.
take it easy and bust out hard!
p.s. i hear what you mean about the jar.

played today for an hour. slight twinges of pain throughout the session but it felt alright. got bad torwards the end, so i stopped. no big combos becuase i didnt want to do any whirls or double downs on my bad leg. all attempts at shred 30 sucked. i was thinking about combos that used mostly one leg and i hit ps whirl>janiwalker. that was the highlight. i suck pretty bad.

Oh man bud, not you too! I hope you feel 100% better within 6 hours of reading this message.
If you didn't gather from my lack of presence lately, or from my rudely not returning your call, I will not be attending css. It seems like its going to be the best one yet (assuming your strong), but I cannot pay for more than 1 minute without pain, and for more than 3 without extreme hurts for days after pain...and yet I experience no pain under any other circumstance except if I have to run really fastfor longer than I'd like...like catching the bus when its ahead of you by a block and still moving (but I can still catch it though
).
However, due to other factors, I probably would be able to make it anyway. I am making one last blog entry that will blow everyones mind, so please check it out. And I hope you recover to double strength and potential. Peace bro.

Blog,
Tommorow is CSS. It feels like just yesterday I was counting down from 2 months when I got my tickets for X-mas.
Plagued by a reoccuring hip injury, the last month has been a mix of highs and lows, pain and recovery. As it stands, my hip is pretty sore, but I've had about 2 decent sessions, and I feel like I at least won't be embarassed to play at CSS.
I feel like maybe this injury is a way of telling me I'm too serious at tournaments. Like I should just chill and meet people. So hopefully this time I will. I really want to become better friends with a lot of the people that are going that I talk to online. I hope 4 days is long enough for that.
In other news, I watched this competitive eating thing last night on TV, and it just made me realize how little cross training we do in footbag. This guy was lifting weights with his stomach to make it hold more food. I think I should really look into cross training as a method to improve speed, endurance, and whatever else footbag calls for. It seems way too simple to say that footbag is the only way to get good at footbag.
I really am optimistic for this weekend. I want to play well, feel good, and play with style, not just speed and adds. I hope my hip puts up with at least an hour or so each day. I know this is optimistic, but my goal is to place top 3 in all 4 events (rippin run, last man, shred 30, sick 3). Considering I had about 10 sessions in the past month it would be a testiment to my muscle memory.
A report perhaps when I get back, although it will probably be overlooked like my videos from earlier this week, so maybe not.
Peace,
David Clavens
