Alpha is a part of the greek naming system that tells you what dexterity in a move is done symposium.

Alpha - first dex done symposium.
Beta - second dex done symposium.
Gamma - third dex done symposium.
Delta - fourth dex done symposium.

So in the case of Alpha Atomsmasher, the first dex on the Atomsmasher would be done symposium (Symposium Atomic Mirage). The same applies to Alpha Toe Blur.
